yeah I have 350 jumps.. and the reason I want to do a handfull of jumps before jumping it is the winter reason exactly... I went to zhills a couple weeks ago and jumped 11 times down there on a 149, but I want to feel really comfortable making my transition. thats why I am opting to not just jump under it just yet... as far as the wing loading kelly is right its right between 1.7 and 1.8... I dont mind the criticizm by any means... I like all the input I can get, with the exeption of anything out of kellys mouth:):) actually I look forward to working on my piloting skills this year with kelly... he may be young, but he is very mature (most of the time) under canopy.... btw kelly what did you say about the cypress... I think the only thing in the bag was the batteries.. did you think there was another cypress in there? pm me.. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

What do you do when it doesnt open me: grab the grass can you really breath through your skin? me: can you? "I saw this movie once and the skydivers in it were moving around...then I remembered that you skidive and I wanted to ask..you cant really move around when youre falling right?" me...THINKING this is gonna take a while.. me: I fly a high performance canopy that is capable of landing at 50-60 mph whuffo: Ohhh My how dont you break your legs every time? doesnt that hurt? me: no its forward speed...then I slow the parachute and myself down before I put my wieght on the ground whuffo: yeah I get that but you slow down so fast when you hit the ground right??? its not like you have air brakes or something... me...ahh hell if you really want to know jsut come to the dz sometime.. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

It would be fun, but the only real problem I see is the cost of the material.. not buying in bulk and where would we even go?? would a canopy manufacturer sell just some zp... or do you want to be daring and make a f-111 ?!?!?:) -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

Well Last week my Oddessey finally came in.. so it completes the deal... javelin, crossfire 2 111, pd 126r... now the only thing I have to do is like 30-40 jumps to get current enough to jump my own gear!:) HA! I have to jump my but off in the nex few weeks so I can start to play with my new toy! laters -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

I suppose we could have huh??? well sorry to clutter it up even more with this appology:):):)\ back to the matter at hand... new canopies... so kelly and anyone else out there for that matter.. who wants to design build and jump a new canopy (with a tirsh sp? rig of course?) I think it would be fun... -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

people with a wing loading of 1.8 or more, or have a small canopy
Yoshi replied to skygod7777's topic in Gear and Rigging
well you know that I have a crossfire 2 111 with my javelin both hip and chest rings.. unfortunately I cant tell you how it flies yet cause its getting assembled! laters -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent. -
Beginning swooping, question about efficiency.
Yoshi replied to Auryn's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
definately let the canopy plane out before flaring (alti providing of course) you will end up getting longer swoops rather than just going streight to your flare from your riser... start a bit higher and do the same slow carve let our as slow as you initiate it and the slowly transition to the flare... by all means stick to the 90 until you can put the beggining and end of your swoop where you want it (consistantly and safely) -yoshi ps have someone video your landings and watch them over and over.. its a great tool to see what you are doing and its fun to just see yourself also! _________________________________________ this space for rent. -

yeah when down in z-hills at the red bull meet (qualifier I think) the sensei didnt seem to have the desired flight characteristics of a swoop machine... but what do I know... I just noticed that the velocities and fx's and vx's hell even jonny on his crossfire were getting longer swoops.... but like vern said it could jsut be from lack of time under the canopy and learning the points where to push it to get the performance.. anyways thats my 2 cents.. -yoshi kelly gonna be at safety day tomarrow??? see you there. _________________________________________ this space for rent.

Yoshi replied to Skydive2's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control

I love my eg freakfly suit.. has lasted me 2 years and it has plenty of jumps left in it... not to mention they are pretty affordable and if you know anything on a sewing machine the pattern is simple to repeat.. I just made myself a new jumpsuit (40 bucks and about 6 hours of work) -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

How Many Crossbraced Canopies at your DZ?
Yoshi replied to Skydive2's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
we have a few at our dz.. maybe a few too many, but the people flying them are current and obviously have some clue what they are doing.. I on the otherhand wont fly one for at least another 500-1000 jumps.. its time for me to hone in on my new pocket rocket and learn all the aspects of its flying.. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent. -
I never had to use it, but I was glad it was there... (the catepault sys.) anywyas when i had a reflex I had to sinch the pop top down every 100 jumps or so.. I never used the reserve in the air, but I did pull it every time before its repack was due and never had much of a problem getting it out.. -yoshi btw... if the rigger is a good one he shouldnt have any issues with packing it.. I kow riggers that have packed so many pop tops that they almost prefer having one... well thats just my 2 pennies _________________________________________ this space for rent.

Swooping in the World Games and Olympics
Yoshi replied to listo's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I think it is a good reason to get people sstarted.. dont get me wrong swooping isnt the first thing a student should be learning or trying to do, but any way to get more people into the sport I think is a good thing.. not to mention that with more people in the sport the accident rates will definately go up, but now as the experienced jumpers we need to make sure that the newbies are getting the training and attention the need and deserve so they dont go out and try to hook it on thier 5th jump.... much less thier 1st.. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent. -
I got my icarus main from the time I ordered it to the time it was in my living room was 3 weeks and 6 days... I thought that was awesome.. my pd reserve took about 5.5 weeks and my oddyssey is running about 10 weeks right now and still isnt here.. they today is the expected delivery date though.. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
