Robin Heid on Jumper Retention
jlmiracle replied to Airman1270's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Because you only have an A license. You have enough for a D but did you do everything that is requried for a D? If you only have an A license and 800 jumps - they could be all solo's. The S&TA used to and I believe still can waive it if you really are qualified to jump with an unlicensed jumper. Why don't you have a D license? j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. -
or both. I would suggest giving away a couple raffle prizes for people who demo the rig and fill out a form. Send paying customers the patches and a little goodie bag stuff (pull up cords, etc.) AFTER they order the rig. Just think of the money that could be saved and those savings could be passed along to ALL the customers or used for R&D. Back in the good ole days when skydiving was thriving, the manufactures spoiled the skydivers with all the freebie stuff (pullup cords, closing loops, key chains, etc). Well times have changed and some skydivers are going to just have to quite whinning and loose this whole entitlement attitude. It may take another year or 2 for everyone to get it. Just my thoughts on it. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

You obviously don't know as much as you think you do, because it has changed. I found the pop (soda) last year. Wasn't a problem . Having to deal with people like you, I would be rude and very unhelpful. Maybe its just you. I've never encountered this problem. The staff I've dealt with have always been very nice and professional, especially for volunteers. Much nicer than manifest people at most dz's. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Maybe if they didn't give away their products to every tom, dick and harry that promises to promote their products, blah, blah, blah, they would have more money to spend to get to events such as this. I am looking forward to the WFFC. I know what is like to volunteer an abundance my time to make the skydivers happy. Well, its really really hard to make skydivers happy, if you give them one thing they will find 20 more things they want and at 1/2 th price, cause they think they are entitled. If you don't like it don't go. If I bashed every boogie that I thought was disorganized and could have done something better, I would never be able to stop typing. This whinning is getting really old. Its like when people bitch about the USPA, but don't contact their directors, or go to a BOD meeting. Everyone seems to want something for nothing. I go to a dropzone skydive. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

That logic is lot like politicans' solutions to rather simple issues. Roundabout and likely to create a lot more trouble than what you're fixing in the first place. ("Why are you spreading dog food on the counter and the leaving the front door open?" "because the cat is licking the butter. See, the dogfood will attract dogs and that will scare the cat away." "Why not just put the butter in the fridge".........."huh?") I have a better solution. Retrain them in basic body position with their hands out in front and then they can wear the right kind of weight. (If they even care at that point). Definately have to agree with this one. I was once the believer that woman needs weights up high but over the years I found that when probably placed in the middle area they can reduce the amount they have to wear. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

I went to your website, all I saw was a bunch of drunk white boys trying to make gang signs and a can of green beans. What is that suppose to tell me about you, that you are an alcoholic wannabe in a gang vegetarian? j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

I know I'm not supposed to think this is funny...

it was probably hijacked at gun point along with this thread. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. -

yes, you can dump your weights before your hit the water. You probably don't want to dump your rig before then. J Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

You are lucky to see icarus - I love my saphire and I need a new one i wish they would come over. Most dz's in america dont' have a revolving door of vendors coming through, if they are going to be there, its often not advertised except to the locals. I have never seen most of vendors listed unless I travel many many many miles to a "big" dz boogie. (It would be cheaper for me to fly to Amsterdam than it is to California) Some people are really slamming it who haven't been a years and some are slamming it because they didn't get enough free beer. In skydiving - especially in America - things aren't always what they advertise. I've come to accept this from every dz because my desire to skydive is bigger than my desire to be miserable and bitch, moan, and complain and I've actually turned into a very cynical person in the last 2 months so this is big for me. I hope you will give WFFC a try and I really really hope you have a good time. Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

I go to the WFFC to skydive and see people I don't normally see, except for there. I have never and will never go to a skydiving boogie because of vendors being there. I rarely go to the "big" skydiving dz's because they are all the same pretty much. I've traveled to one "big" dz during the 4th of July to jump with a specific organizer and the organizer never showed, to find out it happens alot at that particular dz. So broken promises don't just happen at the WFFC. J Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

I agree that would be the thing to do, but it doesn't seem to be the popular opinion on here. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

I think you are asking alot from the people who post here. We go to the internet and these forums so we don't have to think, we just find the opinion we like and run with it and then tell everyone its true cause its on the internet. j j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Missing polish and you would be the Ultimate soccer hooligan! j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

You should read some of the "fine print" available to you by the airlines. As far as suing packers - can't squeeze blood out of turnip. What do you think you would get for suing a packer? Would you be able to prove that it was a bad pack job and not YOUR body position. If you are not willing to accept responsiblity for yourself, please don't skydive. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

You are toast! Although its okay now, you will pay for it dearly later. Good luck! j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Are you looking for experienced instructors or an instructor to tell you it would be fine, great, dandy to have a student under a spinetto. I am an instructor (only 5 years) and it would be insane to put a student under a stilletto under any circumstance. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Mine woke me up at 4:00 A.M. today. She prefers to use the outside bathroom instead of her litter box. If I don't get up when she wants she will nibble one me til I do. J Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Do you talk to people at your DZ about DZ.com
jlmiracle replied to CSpenceFLY's topic in The Bonfire
Yes, and I tell the new students, don't believe everything you read on the internet. If you have a question, any of the instructors at the dz will be able to help you. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. -

this type of thread came up a while ago and you should have seen the angst of some low timers with this attitude - I was a bit nervous about the 'wiseacre' comment though I think it applies. and every 10,000 they should get dropped in a baby swimming pool of dogfood and vegetable oil we put baby food (turkey and meat and gross stuff) in one of Miies pies once. I think he was actually pretty pissed (since he is a vegetarian). Since we have a pool at the dz, you get thrown in for graduating and often for getting your A and sometimes for shits and giggles.
