  1. Both. Mike Mullins won as a write-in back in 2000(?). Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  2. After making as many jumps as you guys do a day and running, in that heat none the less, wearing black, I don't know how social I could/would be. I think I would pretty much be asleep. judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  3. Ron, I wasn't talking about you guys. I thought the tall guy on your team (dave?) was very nice and funny. I was never on the plane with you so I have no idea if you hosed anyone by taking too much time and I never heard anyone there complain about your team. My bitching is from experiences that happened some years ago and yes, I know staff/instructors can be complete asses also, but this thread was about 4-way teams and aircraft. I still think a mystery plane at Nationals is a good idea. There are alot of good skydivers out there that would compete but won't because they don't have an otter or good access to one alot and the perception is (and reitereated here) that if you don't have the "right" door you can't win. I would love to see a non-otter dz team win. When exactly are you threatening to visit. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  4. I'm only bashing the teams that take up too much time in the door and kick around other people's canopies cause "they are on a team". If they can't handle jumping from a different airplane then they don't have to. They don't HAVE to compete. If the winds aren't perfect, they don't HAVE to jump. I just think its really weak, but I jump to have fun and not compete, but I still like the idea of a mystery plane for Nationals, it might make it more interesting to watch instead of the same or about the same outcome every year. I ususally root for the underdogs that don't give up - even if they get a zero. and honestly, I'm only on this thread cause I'm waiting to see if the Jet thread is updated, and I'm bored. 5. One of my jump planes is a C195 - the same C195 that a very well know 4-way team trained in in Deland. In fact still have the video hook ups for the debrief on they way backup to altitude. Before Nemisis (I can't spell) moved, they jumped a KingAir. I learned alot jumping with them in just one weekend and what can be launched from a tiny little door. I've never trained for world meet. I trained one summer for Nationals but we couldn't go and we trained out of a kingair and the C195. I think it would make for better competition at least more interesting if they changed up the planes every year and even kept them a secret until say a week or two out, but then again, I'm all about having fun and less about being competitive. have you heard back from michael? 6. I hope someone in a position of authority had a quite chat with these folks. This is completely unacceptable behaviour, even if they are paying alot of money to the dropzone. Unfortunatly it happens alot and in many places. I've been screwed on a spot many times because the 4-way team HAD to go first and then they take way too much time in the door, especially for the amount of time the spent on the ground in the mock up setting it up. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  7. so any plane other than an otter is the "wrong" equipment? If they are any good they should struggle any more than any body else and should be able to make up for their short coming in freefall. The door doesn't come with in freefall. judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  8. Skydiving Magazine had a huge ad in it about Summerfest. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  9. The BOD or at least some of them recogizne this and tried to get a change with a proxy vote the but enough members were too paranoid to send it in. I really don't understand why they wouldn't send them in. Worst case senerio is they go on a power trip and change a bunch of stuff the members don't like, we either temporarily quit the USPA or we just don't elect them next time. NWFlyer - you are one of the first people on here to actually research and not just speculate how the elections are run and then start ranting and raving and how stupid it is (which it could be better). kudo's to you!
  10. 10 years ago 7 levels + ground school AFF cost me over $1200. $1100 is a bargin! I paid $20 in gear rental for each jump 10 years ago also until I got my own gear. What altitude did you get when you were "cleared". j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  11. no, that one was over a few years ago. This is skyride suing the USPA. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  12. FYI - National directors don't have to get any signatures. Regionals need 10% of their region signing the petition. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  13. why would you smash your face on the airplane, that would be difficult and it would hurt. Don't do that and you will be fine. Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  14. What is a big business? I work for a company that employess 10,000+ people globally and believe it or not, our email goes down sometimes, things get lost in the servers and spam filters, etc. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  15. Yep, what Scooby said. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  16. Did you e-mail them or call? I've received quotes right over the phone. If you e-mailed them, well, you might want to follow up that they actually got the e-mail. Sometimes computers break. J Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  17. I lived in one up in Minnesota and it was great. My kitchen was seperate and tiny but I didn't need that much room and they also had a very small room off the "main room" next to the bathroom. You could have probably put a twin bed in that area but nothing else. I used it to keep my dressers and stuff like that. I say give it a try. You don't have to live there forever. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  18. BS. My "big time job" is as a jump pilot. It took a lot of "hours" that I paid for to get into the pilot seat of the jump plane. Anyone want to compensate me for that time? If you don't like your job, or your pay, get a new one. Most people don't and won't have the pleasure of getting rich doing what they really love. If you love to fly, well, you now know, pilots don't make alot of money (compared to what - I haven't figured that out). I know I could go do what I really love, but I also know it doesn't pay as well as what I do. You make your bed... j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  19. First, I don't know anywhere that will pay a coach $50. Most AFFI's don't make that on any AFF jump. Maybe the DZ will give you a raise if you pay for the gas and upkeep on the plane. Sorry, but I have to agree with Ron on this one. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  20. She sits outside the door and meows loudly. When she is outside - she knows where the bedroom window is so she will sit right outside that and meow or squeak and make strange noises. She is very vocal which I thought was kinda weird. Thank you all for your help - I will try it all! Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  21. This cat seems to have no interest in catnip. I thought of tuna oil but then I don't want every cat in the neighborhood to find the doors and wonder in. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  22. To quote Buzz Lightyear "I'm not flying, I'm falling with style". J Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  23. We recently installed cat doors. Anyone have any tricks on getting the cat to use them? I'm really tired of her waking me up between 3-4 a.m. to go out. (She seems to prefer to go outside instead of using the litter box) This is my first cat, she moved in with us a few months ago. I threaten her with the animal shelter if she continues to wake me but she doesn't seem to care because she probably knows I won't follow through with the threat. Any suggestions will be tried as long as it does not harm the cat (or me). Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  24. Valid question. I would ask your regional director or a National director in your area. There is a BOD meeting next weekend and maybe they could find out for you, if you ask them. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  25. The Group membership does not pay for itself. It not just instructor renewals that is paying the way, its also individual memberships. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
