…call the year 1907 “nineteen oh seven” and not “one thousand nine hundred seven”? But the year 2007 is “two thousand seven” and not “twenty oh seven”? It’s pretty universal. The only time I’ve heard of 2007 as “twenty oh seven” is when I’m calling the automated tax line at the Commonwealth of Virginia. Their recording pronounces the year differently than the rest of us, and I wonder why we don’t pronounce it that way since we did in the 1900s. Does anyone have an explanation? For the life of me I can't understand why you would even admit to going there. Are you kidding? The Women's Forum is the most entertaining thing on this whole freaking website. Oh, he goes there. On larger tracking dives I join them for some swoopage. Generally flying several high speed passes around the group. First pass I think about 60-80 mph closing speeds and swooping about 30 feet in front of lead tracker. So much fun for me and it seems to scare the shit out of the trackers on the first pass. Now all I need is a couple wingmen and we dive bomb it as a group. Quote Careful... The tandem masters are extremely wary of wingsuiters at Orange. Make sure everyone on the tracking dive knows your plans and can 'opt out' if they are not comfortable with what you are going to do. Orange seems to err on the side of caution on safety issues. One lesson I learned the hard way that resulted in a sprained ankle, it that when the canopy has a partial collapse low to the ground, don’t look up! Keep your eyes on where you are going - paying attention to the ground may help more than looking up at a problem you can do little about. Quote I wasn't even tempted to look up. I believe that is because I knew what a collapsed canopy feels like. I took Scott Miller's Canopy Course, and one of the exercises he had us do is to collapse our canopies... waaaaay up high where it would be guaranteed to reinflate before arriving at the point where you enter the landing pattern. It was fun. I'd encourage everyone who hasn't tried it to experience the feel where it is safe to do so. That way you will recognize the feel of it when it happens close to the ground, and you won't be tempted to look up when you should be paying attention to where you are going.
