I hate to jump back into this, but I've got to tell you that if that is what you think, you are really missing it. With regards to incels, specifically, I doubt if very many of them, if any, are part of his fan base. He repeatedly has said that they aren't getting laid because they're pathetic. I don't think that's how you build a fan base. This has been quite an education for me. I underestimated the degree to which people will parrot what they have been told to think about someone. Like I said earlier, I no longer listen to him, but I've listened to him enough to recognize that there are a lot of people here talking out or their asses.

He has, for sure, but If I were to speak publicly for hundreds and hundreds of hours on a limited scope of topics, I'm sure I would also. Regardless, the responsibility is his to put together a consistent message. I think his strong suit is his message to younger people that life is difficult and chaotic and the best way to get meaning from it is to take on as much responsibility as you can handle and try to make your small part of the world as better as you can make it. Another topic he is known for are his lectures on the Old Testament as an archetypal story as well as the prevalence and importance of other archetypal stories in our culture. As he became known for this, he was frequently asked to declare whether or not he believes in God. His responses were always evasive, as earlier stated by The Plummeter and Yobnoc. This evasiveness reached a crescendo in a recent lecture which I think he intended to lay the matter to rest. I thought it was was a big disappointment. It's always been clear to me that he does not believe in God and his attempt to avoid saying it was a big disappointment.

I have heard him discuss the topic a few times and have not heard him say this.

You really are determined. I did not say gender fluid nor did I imply it. I said lying, as in lying to him just for sport, or to test him. Look, I really don't want to be his mouthpiece, I'm just telling you my interpretation of what I've heard him say. I don't care what you think of him, I just object to how reluctant you are to hear what I'm saying.
-
That's not at all what I am saying. If he thinks a person that claims to be trans is telling the truth, he will respect their referred pronoun. If he suspects that the person is lying, he will not. That's my take on it, anyway. Can you not imagine a situation where smartass cisgendered student meets highly controversial professor? Jakee: All of the guy's lectures from the past many years are online. The amount of content is enormous. I wouldn't know where to suggest you start. Like I said, I stopped listening to him. This was after his discussions with Sam Harris regarding the existence of God.

I don't know what happened to it, but I do know there is an alternative in Skydive Fayetteville. I don't jump anymore, but I did stop by there a few weeks ago and saw several of the Skyranch folks. The facility is really nice and I'm told that it is a great place to jump.
-
The impression I got was that he would not oblige the request to be called by alternate pronouns in cases where he thought the person was not actually trans, but just trying to be obstinate. Such a situation is not that difficult to imagine, is it? I'm not carrying water for the guy, believe me. I no longer listen to him due to another, unrelated, issue that I don't agree with.

It was a podcast. That was definitely a paraphrase of what I heard. Not a quote.
-
I've heard him say that he will call them by any pronoun they prefer, if he thinks they are being sincere and just trying to create controversy. He just says he won't be forced to do it.

About the same as the predicted second coming of Christ, or was it the end of the world?

Nice VW bus! Glad it went well!

Merit based immigration - good idea or not?

This whole administration is nothing but posturing. -
There will always be plenty of stupid people to believe anything. It's the "Anything" that keeps changing.
-
Well yeah, but only "the best" criminals.

I agree with your broader definition of social media. I was referring specifically to Facebook. I should have made that more clear.
-
Or just stay off of it completely. It's not required, you know. Friends of mine told me how awesome Facebook was when it came out. I got right on it. After two weeks of avoiding "old friends" from high school I deleted my account. I don't feel like I have missed anything.

What's close to me may not be close to you. I live ten plus hours away from the nearest beach. With that in mind, four to five hours away is not bad. We aren't going there and back in one day. It will be a three day weekend. Probably too much trouble for most people, but if you've only been to the ocean four times in your life, why not?
-
Excellent advice, everyone. Thanks!

Sounds good. Thanks!

Hi Folks! My wife and I will be in Atlanta (actually Peachtree City) in late July. We are thinking of running down to the ocean for a day or two. Our time will be very limited, so that's why it needs to be close. We will drive to the beach Friday night and come back Sunday afternoon. Thanks!

Why you need to pass an Act to know what's in it. . .

That was depressing. That's going to be a deep hole to dig out of. -
