  1. I don't think you have any idea of how common such thinking is in the gun community. For lack of a better term. There is scarcely any gun forum in the US that dosn't have separate sections on "survival". Survival isn't how to live in the in the bush should you get lost while hunting. Its all about assembling a "bug out bag", a rifle(usually AR-15), handgun and misc backpacking supplies. All to survive a meltdown of US society. Brought about by civil unrest, a debt implosion, domestic political unrest, etc. Those with financial means buy rural properties stockpiled with weapons, food, etc. Is Ron alone? https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/jan/29/silicon-valley-new-zealand-apocalypse-escape https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2017/01/30/doomsday-prep-for-the-super-rich Additionally, Ron is not unique in viewing any organization, be it the UN, the FBI, democrats, etc. Who want to remove gun rights for them. As having some sort of ulterior motivations. i.e. first the guns, then freedom, aka George Orwell 1984. AFAIK such thinking is unknown in Europe, given limited consideration in Canada and Australia.
  2. Thats a good example of the type of medical issues that need to be addressed in order to prevent mass shooting incidents. None of them will be of concern to criminals in possession of guns. But to date most run of the mill criminals use guns to effect robberies, not shoot up schools. Those restrictions are similar to Australia and more restrictive than Canada. Whats important to realize is the Colorado, recent Florida and the Sandy Hook events. Would have had substantive bars to those shooters ever getting near a gun. Let alone a AR-15. Using UK or Australian type regulations. IMO, for the US, thats 50 years and about a 1/2 million homicides by guns away.
  3. Again, reinstating the assault weapons ban is an excellent starting point. Demand that media start showing the actual wounds suffered by the victims when covering mass shootings. This is a simply outstanding idea. This is the current ad in Brazil on cigarette packaging is attached and one from the Gifford story below. Many other countries have the same or similar legislation. But you can't have the images on loaded ammo. The average voter needs to see the ads. This is a proven effective measure for the anti tobacco efforts. Some people have no concept of the damage high speed metal can do to a body. http://abcnews.go.com/Health/tucson-shooting-gabrielle-giffords-survive-shot-head/story?id=12593878
  4. There is no quantifiable way to identify a barrel rifling, firing pin indentation or chamber/extraction markings on fired brass. Forensic matches are done by skilled examiners comparing two samples next to each other. In addition a firearm can have its barrel, extractor and firing pin exchanged. Voila, new weapon. Alternatively a dremel emery flap wheel could polish and change each of those features in a minute or so.
  5. All of the posts above have solid remedy's to deal with both school shootings and gun violence. With one exception. "2. Background Check (Criminal & Mental – defined as one who has a condition that makes them dangerous) ." A mechanism to deal with the removal of guns from someone deemed to be dangerous, or convicted of a felony. Specificity of what construes a dangerous mental condition. Because placement on a national cannot aquire database represents a serious removal of constitutional rights.

  7. Given the rigorous testing there it does show, who and what countries are clean. IMO this story most accurately reflects the IOC. Of course Russian sport is corrupt, but then so are the Olympics https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/dec/06/russian-sport-corrupt-olympics Russia’s backdoor Olympics https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2018/feb/02/winter-olympics-russian-doping-ban-pyeongchang
  8. I was thinking exactly that. The loopholes and expense in getting full auto puts a high bar in acquisition. AFAIK no lawfully acquired full auto has ever be used in the commission of a crime. At least in the last 20 years. If you needed a carry permit for five years before you could buy a AR-15. It would certainly change the dynamics of their use and acquisition. The flip side is at the 2018 SHOT show. The national firearms trade show. There was at least 50 companies selling mainly AR's. Some exclusively. Its a huge business.
  9. Wow. Just. FUCKING. Wow. We have two Muslim training camps, that I know of, in GA. Yes, we are on guard here. Ron ...its time for hypervigilance...your data is old and you're actually surrounded. https://www.salatomatic.com/reg/zmRgsyhrWJ
  10. If you want meat there is a whole series of excellent stories in The Nation. Which is the oldest US weekly magazine. Could Paul Manafort Bring Down the Whole Trump Family? He sits atop a massive tangle of ties to Russia, pro-Russian Ukrainians, and shady New York real-estate deals. https://www.thenation.com/article/could-paul-manafort-bring-down-the-whole-trump-family/ In addition The Atlantic has a great story in the March,2018 edition. The Plot Against America Decades before he ran the Trump campaign, Paul Manafort’s pursuit of foreign cash and shady deals laid the groundwork for the corruption of Washington. https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2018/03/paul-manafort-american-hustler/550925/ Manafort makes President Nixon look like an altar boy.
  11. You're right about the Christians. The statement of the woman seems somewhat credible: " the woman claims the governor asked her to "come downstairs" at his home where he would show her "how to do a proper pull-up." The woman alleges he then taped her hands, blindfolded her, took a partially nude photo of her and then warned her to stay quite about the sexual encounter.". Given she consented to the quasi bondage. Then was subjected to the blackmail.
  12. "You CAN, however, lessen gun crime AND the outcome of domestic terrorism by LONG TERM PERMANENT restrictions on both. There is no debate to the fact that if there are fewer weapons being made and there are tighter safeguards on who can wield them then eventually the number in use illegally will be reduced. " Agree. The problem is that republicans want to nibble around the edges of the issues. The NRA is correct about many points they make. But in the end neither they nor the RNC want to compromise because they fear, probably rightly, a slippery slope to outright bans. The whole AR-15 debate is but a sidebar on the whole discussion.
  13. Mass shootings are NOT domestic terrorism. Terrorism is defined as the use of violence and, or intimidation, to obtain political goals. No mass shootings with the exception of the California IS incident had political objectives.
  14. Did you ever pray to your God and ask him to give BHO strength and guidance? Or did you ask your God to remove him? Whenever the Holy Spirit leads me to pray for the president I always pray for wisdom and guidance for him. That did in fact include Obama. Now I pray the same for Trump as he shakes up the Washington cartel and seeks to drain the swamp. I don't know if you've read the latest Mueller indictments of Gates and Manafort. But you should because the hills of Tennessee are interfering with the messages to God. Over $30 million of illegal payments to Manafort laundered into US real estate, of which Gates got $3 million to help. The trump Russia cartel to launder cash has created a swamp from Washington DC to NYC.
  15. I believe President Jimmy Carter is a good man and he professees to be a Christian. Only God knows the heart and quality of a good Christian. The Bible says that to be a Christian you have to believe in faith that 1) Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; 2) Jesus died on the cross as the propitiation of all sin, for all peoples, for all time; 3) Jesus was resurrected from the dead and is available to all who call on Him for salvation. Then you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord you will be saved. That is it. That is the simple truth. The Bible also teaches that if a person proclaims they are a Christian we are to accept them as such. We are not to judge their level of faith, their walk or their behavior. We can only examine their fruit of the Holy Spirit and even that is risky. We are only to hold them in prayer. I thought that that was an excellent question, pertinent, material to the issues. Mr. Carter, IMO is exemplary of what a Christian is. Setting aside the merits of this presidency. Which had the misfortune of the energy crisis, Iran hostage, etc. As for Ron's answer, I think the Romans are off the road. https://bible.org/seriespage/lesson-10-judged-your-deeds-romans-26-11 A recent book: https://www.amazon.ca/Call-Action-Women-Religion-Violence/dp/1476773955 And Fox News: http://www.foxnews.com/story/2005/12/27/role-faith-in-president-jimmy-carter-life.html
  16. If by the "school issue" you mean school shootings, I am not sure how you separate that from gun issues. In my experience, many of those school shootings are being done with guns. I think the rest of your comment shows that the US simply has no interest in fixing any issues related to guns. These shootings will simply increase in frequency and severity over time. Of course the kids watching their friends and teacher getting murdered in front of their eyes are going to be voters. I think that once the old guard dies off, you are going to see a rather dramatic shift to the left. In the US today 56% of households don't have guns. 26% of voters would vote to ban ALL gun possession. On the pro gun side about 10% of voters vote solely on the gun issue, the NRA vote for the lack of a better term. The middle ground is somewhere in between. Fox news, trump, the NRA, Marc, et al, want to separate school shootings, AR-15's, throw Soros, Liberals, HRC, into debate. Just to confuse the issues. Fox in the last couple days suggested that the liberal main stream media actually welcomes school shootings. Because it increases outrage about guns and increases their ratings. Background checks, bump stocks, bla, bla, bla will not solve any of the school shooting issues. Which is almost exclusively an American phenomenon. Marc, the NRA, trump and the RNC, all know this. They pander to a debate because they have no intent of giving up guns. For what they perceive as a slippery slope to the aforementioned 26% view. http://news.gallup.com/poll/1645/guns.aspx
  17. It must have been a very fearful time for you. A black Muslim family in the White House. No wonder you love Trump so much. That was a factor, not the only one, in our decision to move to a Christian enclave in the north GA mountains. America definitely changed during the Obama administration. As a family, we have made plans for survival should the worst happen. We could not afford to move out of the country as some did but we have purchased land in remote areas where we can make a stand. That is, we have land for farming, hunting and fishing. Ron, I know you are not stupid; your writing alone proves that point. I also believe that you have a big heart when it comes to helping those you believe worthy. Certainly I believe your faith, as I've previously opined, precludes rationality sometimes. None of that would bother me if you didn't claim a right to foist it off on any unfortunate passersby or use it as a final point in a conversation. But the one thing you could do is be a little more honest on one point if no other. That is, please read what you have just now written and try to understand how it comes off as racist. And then own it. I agree and there is one factor that is common between Ron and Marc, aka Rushmc. Support for trump no matter the deception, the lying, the hypocrisy, the racism, the bigotry and that whole ideology rolled into the republican party. Still exists. Currently "American voters give Trump a negative 37 - 58 percent approval rating", and American women show greater intellect, judgement because " 57 - 41 percent that Trump is not fit to serve as president. There is a wide gender gap, with men divided 49 - 49 percent on whether Trump is fit. Women say 65 - 33 percent he is not fit." https://poll.qu.edu/national/release-detail?ReleaseID=2522 So 37% still approve of the fraudster in chief. A tax relief blip upwards last week was short lived. Its difficult to understand the parroted views of FOX and the WH. But its important to resist branding this 37% as stupid. About 10% of this number is voting solely on the gun issue. "4. Gun advocates are more passionate Last year, Gallup asked Americans whether they would vote only for a candidate who shared their views on gun policy or whether it was one of many important factors they would consider before voting. Among gun owners, 30% said they could vote only for someone who shared their viewpoint. Among those who didn't own guns, it was 20%. Not only that, but since 2000 the percentage of gun owners who said gun issues were key to their vote climbed by 17 points. It rose by just 10 points among those who didn't own guns. Pew has made similar findings to Gallup. Gun owners are 9 points (21% to 12%) more likely to have contacted public officials about gun policy than those who don't own guns. Americans who favor loosening gun laws have been 7 points (22% to 15%) more likely to contact public officials than those who favor stricter gun laws. Even if some Republicans were tempted to support stricter gun control, these numbers suggest that they might be pressured into voting against it because gun rights advocates are more likely to make their voices heard. " https://www.cnn.com/2018/02/15/politics/congress-gun-control-unlikely-to-pass/index.html Likely 4-7% are very wealthy and as such, enjoying huge advantages that his tax measures create. Which leaves about 20% of Americans who are middle to lower class working people that have yet to see the light.
  18. Melania Trump’s parents are permanent US residents, raising questions on ‘chain migration’ https://www.mercurynews.com/2018/02/21/melania-trumps-parents-are-legal-permanent-residents-raising-questions-on-chain-migration/ The parents of first lady Melania Trump have become legal permanent residents of the United States and are close to obtaining their citizenship, according to people familiar with their status, but their attorney declined to say how or when the couple gained their green cards. Immigration experts said Viktor and Amalija Knavs very likely relied on a family reunification process that President Donald Trump has derided as “chain migration” and proposed ending in such cases. The Knavses, formerly of Slovenia, are living in the country on green cards, according to Michael Wildes, a New York-based immigration attorney who represents the first lady and her family." Six years later, she met Fred Trump at a party, they married and had children, one of whom was Donald Trump. Columbia University historian Mae M. Ngai notes, “Donald Trump is a product of ‘chain migration.’”
  19. You're welcome. They have some really good deals on that site which is sort of a search engine for gun deals. About a year ago someone was selling complete Daniel Defense Ar-15's for $700. But you really have to watch the fine print. Some cheap AR's have "polymer trigger groups". Then others sell used police Glocks as "store demo's" or "counter display's".
  20. Always have I just proved Bill made the same lying comment in another thread “Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots?” It was first recorded in English in 1546.

  23. What??? If you fail on two fifths of the projects I give you, you're fired. That's not being a winner, it's being shit at your job. He is thinking of the trump business style. You incorporate each business separately. Solicit funds from banks, shareholders and bondholders. Through incompetence and sweetheart insider management contracts, bleed the business dry. Declare bankruptcy. Move on. When domestic funding, national shareholder interest, walks away because of your track record. You go to Russia, where money laundering, oligarchs moving money outside state control and gangsters. Supply funding, aka Kushner companies, trump enterprises. Is Donald Trump’s Dark Russian Secret Hiding in Deutsche Bank’s Vaults? http://www.newsweek.com/2017/12/29/donald-trump-russia-secret-deutsche-bank-753780.html In November 2008, Steven Molo, an attorney for Deutsche Bank, wrote a letter to the Supreme Court of New York about one of the company’s most troublesome clients. At issue was $640 million that client had borrowed in 2005 to fund construction of a new hotel in Chicago. The client had personally guaranteed the loan, but a few years later, the Great Recession devastated the economy, and he defaulted on his payment, with $330 million outstanding. Deutsche was seeking an immediate $40 million from the client, plus interest, legal fees and costs.... The debtor in question: Donald Trump, the future president of the United States.... As a result of these maneuvers, by the mid-2000s, U.S. financial institutions had stopped lending to Trump for his building projects. Deutsche was the only one still willing to work with him. After Trump burned the bank, Deutsche shunned him as well. But Trump soon found a creative way to get off its blacklist—and return to solvency.... Over the next few years, the money kept rolling in for Trump. He took out two mortgages against a resort in Miami and a $170 million loan to finish his hotel in Washington, D.C. According to Bloomberg, by the time Trump was elected president of the United States in November 2016, he owed Deutsche around $300 million, an unprecedented debt for an incoming president. (His June financial disclosure showed he owes the bank $130 million, which is due in full in 2024.) The loans to Trump weren’t the only abnormal behavior at Deutsche. Around the same time he received his new line of credit, the bank was laundering money, according to the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS). Russian money. Billions of dollars that flowed from Moscow to London, then from London to New York—part of a scheme for which European and American regulators eventually punished the bank." The rest of the story will be told by a Mueller indictment. Coming soon in a US courtroom.
  24. That is a really good point! I have asked a couple of people here if they want AR15's banned are they going after these too? https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=browning+bar+hunting+rifles&qpvt=browning+bar+hunting+rifles&FORM=IGRE No answer as of yet. They function EXACTLY the same! WRONG, as usual. Browning has attempted to morph a sporting gun into an assault weapon. Now has a 10 round detachable magazine, pistol grip. Thanks for pointing that out. Next step will be 30-50 round detachable mags and bump stocks. Clearly needs banning.
  25. I agree and in addition, the teachers should be instructed in small arms and should carry concealed. Children today are not stupid. Furthermore everyone knows you don't bring a sidearm to a rifle-fight! If the mentally ill children are untreated because tax breaks are necessary for Wall Street and billionaires. Then bring AR-15's to schools the teachers will be outgunned. Just like the battle law enforcement went through a couple years ago to get Ar-15's and M-4's in the squad car. Teachers need proper equipment. Start them out right with a proper level lV helmet, Esapi body armor and Ar-15's.We can't let teachers be outgunned in America. Even Breitbart knows your argument lacks attention to the specific needs of teachers. Especially as the republicans are set to pass new national reciprocity concealed carry: Congress is moving forward with its new “guns everywhere” proposal https://www.salon.com/2018/02/13/congress-is-moving-forward-with-its-new-guns-everywhere-proposal/ Below the Breitbart story: http://www.breitbart.com/texas/2017/08/05/anti-gun-texas-professor-wears-body-armor-class-protest-campus-carry/
