I would add that Americans distrust their government more than other western countries. They distrust the services their government provides and their motivations more often. The US military exempted. Along with that distrust is a lack of trust of other citizens. Of the bond of civil society. This leads in part to the whole SHTF society is razor thin mentality. Of me, my Colt against everyone else.

The rest of your statements are false or misleading as usual. Yes and even Ruger knew that more than a $1 was a waste of money because of NRA corruption.

Part of the trump/GOP and blind-intellectually challenged followers playbook. Spread it around, perhaps some will stick. Perhaps the smell will distract. Even if you're not downwind, play the victim. Sorry if your fake news, disinformation and anti-science playbook doesn't get the response here you want. The US is number two after India for fake news, disinformation, etc. among all countries. I know the GOP always aim for number one

Post trump Legal Actions, Including his Enablers

Statements of reprimand roll off the backs of lawyers. Like drops of water of a ducks back. Unless they are sanctioned with fines or costs its all moot. -
Post trump Legal Actions, Including his Enablers

At trump enterprises taxes are for little people. When trump talks to his base of little people at his rallies. Their accountants aren't around to explain the nuances of fraud and tax planning. -
The GOP and trump together with FOX, drive fear. They created the culture war and the arming of the parties/tribes is the natural result. Pounding the QAnon drum and promising a overthrow of democracy furthers this arms race.

Thanks for that. Once again your deep and thoughtful analysis with a foundation based upon all the facts. Is broadly respected.

Washington State has an official visitors guide. Space needle, scenic roadmaps, etc. Now the GOP is putting together a Washington DC "Official visitors guide". 1. Layout of the capitol building with all entrances and exits marked. 2. Good places to get weapons and hide weapons.

First new records were set in this town as Canada's hottest place.Lytton, B.C. breaks Canada's all-time heat record for third time "For the third straight day, Lytton B.C. broke the record for the hottest temperature ever recorded in Canada, with the thermometer in the Fraser Canyon village hitting a scorching 49.5 C." Now the entire town is burning to the ground. Village of Lytton, B.C., evacuated as mayor says 'the whole town is on fire' Soon the usual climate change deniers will be along. Suggesting perhaps that now the town can be rebuilt with all A/C homes and A/C buildings.

Yes, many developed countries have shrinking and ageing populations. Not to be confused with wrinkling and ageing populations...but I digress. As well their GDP is growing. Unfortunately for many similar countries their debt is often rising as fast or faster.
-
GDP, the measure of all goods and services is the states measure of the value of consumption. IMO an overemphasis of the use of leverage, i.e. debt, the idea that consuming more and more. Borrowing more to get what you "need". Drives the externalities that you reference. How I Fit 5 Years of My Trash In This Jar Imagine families in condos living like this and driving bicycles, electric scooters and electric cars. People who engage in recycling, limited consumption of crap they really don't need. Can still have fun, leading active, fulfilling lives. All while living western style lives with all the benefits it involves. Compare her with this piece of SH*t: Donald Trump Plans To Repair, Use ‘Beautiful Boeing 757’ For Rallies, Again Imagine the waste of resources that moving a B757 around involves just to stroke trump's ego.

Most often defined as rising GDP. Yes, debt, consumption and GDP as the symbols of success. Rather than a healthy, happy society living in balance with nature. The true carrying capacity of the ecosystem.

Sorry thats a common misconception. Oxfam released a study that found the richest 10 percent of people produce half of the planet’s individual-consumption-based fossil fuel emissions, while the poorest 50 percent — about 3.5 billion people — contribute only 10 percent. Yet those same 3.5 billion people are “living overwhelmingly in the countries most vulnerable to climate change,” according to the report. According to the data used by the report, individual consumption — as opposed to consumption by governments and international transport — makes up 64 percent of worldwide climate emissions. ^This,^ see above and: Private Planes, Mansions and Superyachts: Calculating Billionaires' Massive Carbon Footprint 'We found that billionaires have carbon footprints that can be thousands of times higher than those of average Americans.... Residents of the U.S., including billionaires, emitted about 15 tons of CO2 per person in 2018. The global average footprint is smaller, at just about 5 tons per person. In contrast, the 20 people in our sample contributed an average of about 8,190 tons of CO2 in 2018. But some produced far more greenhouse gases than others. Brent will be along soon to explain "per capita" and blame China. Rather than personal responsibilities and individual outcomes of personal choices.

"The U.S. withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accords under President Donald Trump provided China an opening to seize. America’s abandonment of global leadership on the issue was thrown into sharper focus by Trump’s empty chair during a climate change discussion at August’s G7 meeting in France. “The U.S. administration is not particularly interested in renewables at home let alone overseas,” says Simon Nicholas, an analyst for the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis. Now, China has firmly established its leading position in renewable energy output, as well as in related technologies such as electric vehicles, transmission lines and battery storage, and Beijing is managing to weaponize green technology in a way that strategic rivals like the U.S. may struggle to counter."

You forgot the biggest strike against nuclear. Its politically toxic. Nobody wants one in their neighborhood. Further to your point(s): "actual average reported by the Nuclear Energy Institute, the industry’s lobbying organization. Nonetheless, Lazard’s comparison between new electricity resources is stark: Nuclear power: $118–192/MWh (of which $29 is typical operating cost) Coal power: $66–132/MWh (of which $33 is typical operating cost) Combined-cycle gas power: $44–68/MWh Utility-scale solar power: $32–42/MWh Onshore windpower: $28–54/MWh"

Pricing, i.e taxing carbon. As much as I hate paying $1.35 a liter for gas($4.13 US per US gallon). Its the most effective way to move to more efficient, EV use and reduce carbon. US State Gas Price Averages World Gas Prices

What happens when you park your A/C in Florida at an airport. I'm sure the engineers in France had a chuckle about guns in America. A month down $6500 in repairs and probably another $15k in loss of value because it has a repair now. A BULLET HIT MY AIRPLANE!

For many less well off its food or AC in super hot temperatures. In a poorly insulated mobile home a window AC is all they can afford. However the well off have made additional choices. Here is the new Tesla killer if you can afford it.

Supreme Court says NCAA can't limit some benefits to student athletes
Phil1111 replied to ryoder's topic in Speakers Corner
That an average per school. College football stars could be earning as much as $2.4 million per year, based on NCAA revenues: study Time to call it what it is. Student slavery. Everyone makes money but those who put their health on the line in every game and some practices. Perhaps if they weren't playing football they could study. Get a second degree. -
His supporters love everything about that event. The court would have acquitted him and the DA would not have charged him if the pair was truly defending their home. His supporters love the idea of a AR-15, "defending the home", confronting "liberal Black supporters". Even more so now they are "victims" of a liberal DA.

"Journalists at the Dutch publication The Correspondent tracked down an educational video Shell released in 1991 called “Climate of Concern,” which warned, “Global warming is not yet certain, but many think that to wait for final proof would be irresponsible. Action now is seen as the only safe insurance.” There’s good evidence Exxon knew a decade earlier" Above from Shell Is Looking Forward The fossil-fuel companies expect to profit from climate change. I went to a private planning meeting and took notes.

Mark McCloskey, who announced in May that he was running for a U.S. Senate seat in Missouri, was unapologetic after the hearing. After all pleading guilty in such an offense for a lawyer is a big plus in GOP circles "A St. Louis couple who gained notoriety for pointing guns at social justice demonstrators last year pleaded guilty Thursday to misdemeanor charges and agreed to give up the weapons they used during the confrontation. Patricia McCloskey pleaded guilty to misdemeanor harassment and was fined $2,000. Her husband, Mark McCloskey, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor fourth-degree assault and was fined $750." As if campaigning for a a senate seat already “I’d do it again,” he said from the courthouse steps in downtown St. Louis. “Any time the mob approaches me, I’ll do what I can to put them in imminent threat of physical injury because that’s what kept them from destroying my house and my family.” Guilty of assault and harassment and using a AR-15 in commission of those offenses. That has to be gold star GOP references.

Sure California should shut everything down. Absent that they should not expect sympathy. Florida could start abandoning low lying areas in flood prone areas. As the US federal government continues to subsidize Florida hurricane damages. Coastal damage and increasing salinity in Florida freshwater supplies. It pretends global warming is a democratic issue.
