No the $2 trillion was what trump gave the wealthy in tax breaks. But he just announced that he wants to harden US schools against gun violence. That should cost $2 trillion. "This concept of hardening, the more it has been done, it's not shown the results," said Jagdish Khubchandani, a public health professor at New Mexico State University who studies school security practices and their effectiveness. Khubchandani said the majority of public schools in the United States already implement the security measures most often promoted by public officials, including locked doors to the outside and in classrooms, active-shooter plans and security cameras. After a review of 18 years of school security measures, Khubchandani and James Price from the University of Toledo did not find any evidence that such tactics or more armed teachers reduced gun violence in schools." Perhaps $2 trillion will help? It will put the US above Mexico

"CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A woman in West Virginia fatally shot a man who began firing an AR-15-style rifle into a crowd of people that had gathered for a party, authorities said. Dennis Butler, 37, was killed Wednesday night after he pulled out the rifle and began shooting at dozens of people attending the birthday-graduation party outside an apartment complex in the city of Charleston, police said in a statement. The woman, who was attending the party, drew a pistol and fired, killing Butler," Yep exceptional. This will spread like wildfire in the gun forums, in AR15.com chat-rooms. Armed Americans becoming hero's by killing armed assailants. "During a press conference in Uvalde County, Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott said the state needed to focus on mental health and not restricting gun ownership to prevent future mass shootings like the one that happened at Robb Elementary School." Texas is last in spending on mental health.

Ah! Jakee you're forgetting. trump things he is so much smarter than any lawyer. Just stroke his ego a bit and his big yapper starts to flap. Now he has come out and said that the money spent on Ukraine. Should instead be spent on "enhancing school safety". Not gun violence, "mental health", thoughts and prayers, etc. No school safety is the issue. Typical republican. He will be smiling and all agog and the NRA today. People wanting to take his picture, applause. trump further stated "Schools should be the single hardest target in America" -

Brent! you're going to get a stroke with all that mental gymnastics. Overall US consumer debt is $2 trillion higher than at the last US recession. You said that (some) consumers had $2 trillion in the bank. So that means Americans that don't have money are $4 trillion deeper in debt. The walls must be high in your gated community. -

In Canada its family & friends. No history of violence permitted. A drunk driving conviction is ok. But any violence is the end of the application. While Ar-15s and versions of it are on a pre-ban order.i.e. not banned now but can't be sold, or used. There is a whole new industry making guns that are very similar. But with different names so they are legal for sale. Personally I think that you should be licensed for shotguns, rifles, handguns, Assault/weapons/Ar-15s All separately. With a year or a couple between each type of endorsement/ownership. "Licenses to acquire a weapon in Switzerland require the applicant to be at least 18 years old with no criminal record, and must have no cause for suspicion that the weapon will be used for harm or violence. An acquisitions license is valid for 6-9 months and is usually valid only for the acquisition of a single weapon. Licenses are doled out on a local level, and they are not given lightly. Cantonal police, who approve or deny licenses, are known to consult psychiatrists, require proof that the applicant is not addicted to drugs or alcohol, contact police in any cantons where the applicant has lived previously, and even interview personal acquaintances before granting an acquisition license. Carrying licenses can be obtained for gun owners who want to take their gun with them on a daily basis, but they must first demonstrate a need for the weapon (self-protection or protection of others), and pass both a theoretical and practical exam regarding gun safety and usage. The practical exam tests the user’s ability to load, unload, and operate the gun, and the theoretical section tests knowledge of types of weapons and ammunitions, security and safety measures, and perhaps most importantly, gun laws and consequences of criminal acts with a firearm. Most gun owners in Switzerland don’t have a carrying license unless they require it for work, such as in the case of police officers and security guards."

They would certainly never think about how high gas prices in the 80% of developed countries. Where prices are higher than in the US. Affects the poor in those countries. Wait, there are less poor people in those countries. Where gas prices are higher than the US. Because they use those taxes for social programs to help the poor. Oh well. At least they will have midterms. To vote on climate change, gas and guns. If those poor people would just work harder. Get an education, stop smoking weed, drinking, having 10 kids, ...... -

The reasons from biologists is that animals will view people as food sources. Then habituate roads where they can be struck and killed. Teach their young to expect food from people. Leading to their mortality from hunters when they leave the protection of the park. When they lose the sense that people are also predators. Also become aggressive when food is not forthcoming. By breaking into cars, tents, cabins, etc. Once people leave in the fall they just naturally disperse looking for new food sources. For bird feeders. A danger can be transmission of diseases from an unnatural density of birds. Or other animals that would normally not congregate. On the positive side there are the cases where stupid people walk up to grizzly bears to feed them. Then get eaten. Walk up to wild lions to feed them. Same outcome. -

Above US household debt to GDP is at historic highs. At least GOP members and supporters came out on top with $$$ in the bank. Recessions just bring on some good deals off the backs of the poor. Right Brent? Is that $2 trillion attributed to trump? Or to President Biden? -
That really pissed me off when the Columbine Colorado shooting happened. The cops arrived and had to wait for others to gather to enter the high school. Because entering as a group was the procedure. I'm sure I posted something in these forums about how pissed I was. Subsequently the procedure was changed and it became. Get to and engage the shooter ASAP to prevent the shooters ongoing actions. Then there was a shooting at a Florida school where some cowardly cop refused to enter the school. He subsequently was fired for cowardice. Wait I have a vision...... Republicans have acted on school gun violence. They have put bars on all the windows. To keep out intruders. Only one solid steel bulletproof door. To keep out assailants. Now the cops will have to call a locksmith to open the school door. While the shooter does what he does. The cops go for donuts while waiting for the locksmith.

The front of the barrel is locked in place by the slide. As the slide recoils back to chamber a new round and eject the spent brass. The end of the barrel is unsupported. When the new round is chambered the slide will move fully forward so the end of the barrel is fully supported and locked into place by the slide. Its locked at the back where the chamber is by the frame itself. The front by the slide.

For me he has got away with so much. Then he raked in $100 million since his election defeat from gullible republicans. Undoubtedly he will use that money for his legal bills and settlements. Then of course there is Jared and Ivanka. Currently drinking at the fountain of Saudi money. So discouraging the he-haw has run out. -

I think he is too stupid for that. A sharp lawyer will stroke his ego a bit. Lead him down the garden path a little. A little lie will come out, a little bigger lie. Then bingo, in typical trump fashion a civil settlement is arranged. -
I have a good friend from skydiving and he is my shooting buddy. He is the only person that I personally know who owns more guns than me. He only watches FOX, he's a typical FOX viewer. A combination of Ron and Brent w/o the religion. I have learnt to tune out the FOX, right wing narrative when we visit. That and I steer the discussion away from politics, economics and the right wing drivel. I've just know him for so long that I overlook the right wing b.s. Western Canada is a bit like Texas lite. Lots of rednecks and adjusting to new immigrants is problematic for many. Especially if they live in rural areas. But to give an example of how FOX racism affects people. In the last decade or so he is oft to repeat anti-black memes and ideas. AFAIK and I've known him 45 years. He has never personally been acquainted with a black person. In the larger cities in Canada there are lots of new Black immigrants In addition new immigrants typically don't go to rural Canada. Because there are less jobs and cultural support groups for them.

Midterms in America: In Alabama, Gov. Kay Ivey unpacked lipstick, an iPhone and something else from her purse in one campaign advertisement — “a little Smith & Wesson .38,” she said. A Republican candidate for governor in Georgia declared in a different spot, “I believe in Jesus, guns and babies.”
