  1. Avenatti Gets a 4-Year Sentence for Defrauding Stormy Daniels of $300,000 "In Manhattan, he was convicted in 2020 of trying to extort millions of dollars from Nike and is now serving a sentence of two and a half years. A lawyer representing him in that case later filed a notice of appeal, and his lawyers in the Daniels case wrote in court papers that Mr. Avenatti intended to appeal that conviction, too..The judge also ordered that Mr. Avenatti pay $148,750 in restitution and forfeit about $297,000..." Imagine what sentence a cop would get for stealing $300K from an injured motorist.
  2. Well at least the US is not number one anymore. Latest estimates have 30,000 Russians killed in the war so far this year. While the NRA/GOP in their war against civilians is only about 18,200 Good thing the GOP hasn't allowed the sale of M777s yet.
  3. Just the GOP getting voters ready for midterms and presidential elections.
  4. There is a You-tube channel that interviews Russians on the street. It solicits their opinions on the war, the economy, world events, etc. If MAGA/GOP voters are still so numerous. The average Russian is more knowledgeable and objective than the GOP ilk.
  5. I try to be an optimist. I'm just so thankful that trump is out. With a war in Europe and the world economy teetering on a recession. There is an enormous drag on democrats to keep trump out in two years. His possible GOP challenger/leader is "Florida's Ron DeSantis wanted to target social media companies for their content moderation policies, crack down on protests following Black Lives Matter demonstrations and punish a major corporation for crossing the GOP in the culture wars. ... For more than a year, Florida Republicans have made the state a test kitchen for conservative ideas that made DeSantis a favorite among GOP voters, who consistently rank him as their second choice to run for president in 2024 just behind Donald Trump. DeSantis has been able to wade into national culture wars by signing into law bills inhibiting classroom discussion of sexual orientation, gender and race, barring protesters from picketing outside a person’s home and limiting tenure at the state’s public universities." So who is the more batshit crazy? Oh! almost forgot and a stacked conservative USSC.
  6. 5 Russian Enlistment Offices Hit By Arson Attacks – Reports "In March, local residents damaged military enlistment offices in the Voronezh, Sverdlovsk and Ivanovo regions with Molotov cocktails. Young men subsequently detained in Sverdlovsk and Ivanovo said they sought to disrupt the recruitment campaign in protest of Russia's war in Ukraine. Four days after Russian troops entered Ukraine, a 21-year-old set fire to the enlistment office in the Moscow region town of Lukhovitsy. He said he wanted to destroy archives to prevent mobilization" "Since Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine on February 24 at least 10 enlistment offices have been attacked, according to Russian news portal Baza." Its no wonder that 50 year olds with experience are being recruited. There are no more recruiting offices for raw recruits.
  7. Plus 15 mass shootings over the US long weekend. Its just incessant.. But to be number one you have to try harder each and every year.
  8. Today Canada news: Quebec’s Bill 96 officially becomes law, French language minister named "Bill 96 has been widely criticized by anglophone, Indigenous and immigrant groups over concerns it goes too far." Ban assault rifle and ban English. Not much new in Canada.
  9. NVA and VC didn't want to fire on US A/C because they were either wanted to stay concealed in the foliage. Or their hostile actions could identify them as combatants. They also knew that helicopters and A/C were hard to hit and harder to bring down. Open terrain, a big letter Z on vehicles together with persistent observation capabilities. As compared to a high altitude maneuvering A/C trying to avoid ground fire and SAMs. Make the job for Ukrainians easier. IMO
  10. A Rambo type armed individual!! So in a situation where a armed gunman could have threatened peace loving skydivers out having fun. You refused to confront him immediately and end the potentially threatening situation. Instead you called the cops and took that chance that it didn't become a active shooter situation.. Before the cops could intervene to defuse the situation?
  11. Skydiving is getting safer and safer every day!
  12. Four and 1/2 seconds to five seconds freefall. 125 meters altitude for those pop bottle bombs. I don't know what those improvised explosive bombs were. But they are dropped using "kentucky windage". They don't even have stability fins on them. If a Russian conscript can't hit a, I'm guessing, .5-.75 meter target at 125 meters. Putin is in more trouble than he thinks. A YouTube view of same video. There are other improvised bombs dropped by Ukrainian drone forces. Hand grenades, etc. But one of the most effective are RPG rounds with the rocket motor taken off. A printed plastic fin is strapped on the back. So you have a shaped charge bomb thats light weight.
  13. Light Sport A/C are very capable. But they still cost $. IMO if you live in Fla. you have to question your sanity if you don't own a boat or two.
  14. They can't get out of the fight even if their contract is over. Brass is ignoring expired contracts and refusing to allow troops to leave. The increased age limit is to replace wounded an KIA with more experienced men. Some are quitting and getting out. But officers are putting every lie and wall in the effort to keep troops on the line. If they are no longer in Ukraine they can refuse to fight. Refuse to go to the war zone.
  15. No respect and not trying to shoot it down. Oh well.
  16. I think you mean when changes to congress, the USSC, the electoral college, the US constitution, etc. etc.all take place. Polls show 78 % want changes now....Wait ...what??... now its only 52%. Better order up more body bags in the smaller sizes.Joe and I have both concluded that Brent is right. Change, it just ain't a gonna happen.
  17. I'm surprised that she never made any reference to George Soros. But that may have occurred during her second hour of nonsense.
  18. Everybody needs to keep one fact in mind. She has a constituency of voters that like those attributes. Its just the world we all live in.
  19. "Developed countries, 1998-2019" After that American exceptionalism took over. As such. America was in a league of its own.
  20. Countries are sending Excalibur GPS shells. But the shooting I referenced was old fashioned shooting. I have ballistic software on a PDA for shooting out to 26-2800 yards. For target shooting with a .300 WM.It calculates the geographic location, Coriolis Effect, wind, etc. One artilleryman had a phone and one used a laptop. The Canadian m777 systems have LINAPS Artillery Pointing System which were supplied to Ukraine. The US has a different system. But not all of the US systems sent has computer aided calculators. Two months ago there were video's of Ukrainian artillery shooting at Russians in a shelterbelt between two wheat fields. There must have been twenty firing because at that time Ukraine didn't use MRSI. The dispersion of impacts was up to 200 meters from the shelterbelt. In the last month Ukrainians were walking artillery up and down the sherterbelts(20 yards wide). With rounds striking no more than 20 yards outside it. With most right in the 20 yard wide target.
  21. From: Mental illness and reduction of gun violence and suicide: bringing epidemiologic research to policy (2015) "Media accounts of mass shootings by disturbed individuals galvanize public attention and reinforce popular belief that mental illness often results in violence. Epidemiologic studies show that the large majority of people with serious mental illnesses are never violent. However, mental illness is strongly associated with increased risk of suicide, which accounts for over half of US firearms–related fatalities." Makes common sense. Otherwise there would be knife attracts, as an example. In countries where guns are few, i.e. Japan. The quote I had with regards to road rage killings in Dallas. Is another good example. 2021, 45 people wounded, 11 killed. Just put a gun in every glovebox of every hothead's vehicle. Bingo, one family mourns a death. The other family visits their white teenager in prison. For the rest of their lives.
  22. There are a couple good videos out from news services on Ukrainian artillery batteries in operation. Russian counter battery radars were somewhat non existent. One company using m777 were hitting targets spotted by drones within 1-2 shots. They must have been in a quiet area because they were only firing 10 rounds a day. Another were using two 2S1 Gvozdika systems hidden in a pine forest. They were equally as good. They had been in the same location for a couple weeks. Drive out 3-4 shots over about five minutes. Then back into concealment from drones. They were equally as good shots. Two- three rounds and scratch one tank. Targets sighted and rounds spotted by drones. No Russian A/C, no counter battery fire at all. But incoming in the general area. The commanders had lots of experience. Fighting Russians and separatists continuously since 2014. Other than no open fires, pretty soft for a war.
  23. "The U.S. will transfer long-range rocket systems to Ukraine to aid the country’s fight against Russia in the Donbas region, officials told multiple outlets. Ukrainian officials have been asking the U.S. to send the Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) or the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS), CNN first reported, citing U.S. officials. The weapons would be a significant improvement from Ukraine’s current artillery — an MLRS is able to fire hundreds of kilometers away and HIMARS is able to fire the same type of ammunition as an MLRS." Good thing because Putin is now allowing anyone with a pulse to sign contracts and fight for the Motherland...Er the yachts of the oligarchs. Then there are the damn Russian realtors getting into the fight! Certainly not like the realtors in the US. "Natalia Abiyeva is a real-estate agent specializing in rental apartments in the city of Nizhny Novgorod, east of Moscow. But lately, she has been learning a lot about battlefield medicine....Since the start of the war, she said, she has raised more than $60,000 to buy food, clothes and equipment for Russian soldiers serving in Ukraine." Damn realtors. Now back to the thread drift. IMO the reason for the delay in getting the gunman. Is the hierarchical nature of police forces. The chief of the Uvalde Consolidated School District Police Department, Pete Arradondo. The guy who held action back for 40 minutes. Was overruled/had is orders ignored and other officer took direct action. Why his resignation hasn't been demanded by now, who knows. Its like Russian troops when their generals get killed. Or danger is near. They start running around in circles. But instead of heading for the donut shop like Uvalde cops. They disable their tanks, drop their guns and head for the Russian border.
  24. The RCMP have changed the laws in Canada. "The RCMP has taken aim at the Ruger high capacity 10/22 magazine which holds 25 cartridges. Despite the fact that these magazines have been legal in Canada for decades, the RCMP firearms lab has suddenly concluded that because they will fit Ruger Charger pistols or clones, and since pistols are limited to magazines of ten rounds, the magazine should now be classified as prohibited. This was confirmed in a memo dated July 21, 2016 from the RCMP Criminal Division Branch." "The Ruger BX- 25 magazine, chambered for 22 LR rim-fire calibre, is designed and manufactured for use in the: Ruger SR22 rifle 10/22 family of rifles/carbines 22 Charger handgun This magazine is a prohibited device unless modified so its capacity is 10 cartridges or less." So to be safer: Ever wondered why the RCMP says that 10/22's are limited to 10 rounds? Look no further than the 22 Charger. And heres a mag for it. Pinned to 10 Tube mags for .22 and other guns don't need to be pinned. This is why many Canadian gun owners have hardened their positions. On gun restrictions and Liberal gun bans. Yeah i know the police are not supposed to write laws.Thats another issue.
  25. The image in a advertising tweet from the manufacturer of the Ar-15 used by the Uvalde shooter, Daniel Defense. Days before the shooting. “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it,”(Proverbs 22:6 King James Version) a cutline reads above the photo. Note the 30 round mag at the feet of the toddler. The tweet, an apparent reference to a Bible verse, ended with a prayer emoji. The DDM4 V7 retails for about $2000. Remember this was a 18 year old shooter. Train up a toddler with a Ar-15, only in America. trump wants to arm teachers in US schools when trained, armed, Texas troopers refused to face this same weapon. Daniel Defense received $3.1 million in non-refundable grants from the trump administration. In turn in the last year they donated $190,000 to the GOP in the last calendar year. "Four of the company’s semi-automatic rifles were found in the hotel room of the gunman who fatally shot 60 people at a 2017 Las Vegas"
