  1. This is so good. Love the way time is cut down to fractions of seconds and feet in tens not thousands. Looks like a lot of people have done some hard yards getting this all worked out. Good on yas and thanks... making it look almost safe...and at least now a real calculated risk not guess work.
  2. Hydrogen power here we come Heard a little hydrogen dream. Closed system powered by the sun continually cracking the H2O and reforming it (burner ) . The tech's already there.........apparently When it's perfected it'll be bye bye middle east who needs ya. It'll probably be bye bye most of the world's population in the mean time. If a kid can make a rocketship what can the most powerful people on the planet do? Whatever they like.
  3. in reply to " rememeber the SKYRAY... not a wingsuit BUT... I heard the German Military were testing 2 versions... The sports verison that goes about 10k, and a larger version that goes 100k in distance.... " .................................. Any more info on this or is it a bit hush hush.? 100km range would need a fair size fuel tank needing an increased wing-area meaning more weight needing a bigger wing etc. This thing must be a fair size. In-flight refueling?? Speaking about the Skyray does any-one have any flight experiences in it to share?
  4. in reply to "the V1 has stiffiners in it.... " .................... Yeah and aint it hot.... love those hand control rods. I was thinking more like a stiffish panel covering the majority of the span(rather than the relatively narrow tabs in the V1) to provide a much more definite and less changeable lower wing surface . Awkward to fold perhaps but the advantages might be worth it. Similar to how going to a metal skinned wing increased efficiencies over fabric wings in aircraft. Making the the top surface stiff would be trickier.
  5. in reply to "I met a guy in Rantoul last year that said they train their students to do a barrel roll if they have a pc in tow......Anybody else ever heard of this? " ....................... No but I'm gonna try an' remember 'cause its so phookin' funny CAUTION the following statement is a JOKE. Those Rantoul instructors mustn't have thought it thru'. He'd be better off teaching a frontloop....then those unwitting students would have a chance to grab the Pc and bridle and either hold it or yank it out..... Caution bad satirical JOKE about student safety procedures above. How does this barrel loop sort of thing get taught? Too much jungle juice or ???
  6. in reply to "Unless I am out of altitude, I personally perform emergency procedures for a partial malfunction METHODICALLY, I do not rush them." .................... I think you've made some good points here. Part of learning to do anything well is to get it right...especially EP's . Each individual step is supposed to be performed with definite actions...not necessarily slowly but certainly methodically. Like with learning a musical instrument you begin by doing it slowly ....as you get it right you can speed up....as required . Similarly with EP's . the important thing is to get it right... at an adequate altitude. if your hand slips off the c/a and you still activate your reserve then....wrong. Part of training for muscle memory / semi-automatic response is to ensure each critical step is performed in the correct order with definite/positive /strong action. Once this definite order is learnt then things can be sped up as required. Of course sometimes a bit of thought may be required as one of the steps. Training for this thought bit may be challenging as there are many possibilities in the more exotic malfunction situations. The human mind/ body is capable of varying things as required by the circumstances...especially if it's pre-warned by others experiences. Thankfully with well maintained and proven equipment most malfunctions can be treated as a fairly straight forward event. Stick to the training and mostly it'll turn out right. For the unusual ones instinctive survival skills and self training may become a deciding factor.
  7. in reply to " It is the federal Liberal government that releases young offenders back into the community, the federal Liberals who appoint the judges who refuse to punish, the federal Liberals who run the prison system as if it were a summer camp, the federal Liberals who refuse to deport immigrants who break the law, the federal Liberals who have subordinated public safety to ethnic politics..." ........................ Makes me wonder if these federal liberals have a vested interest in keeping the crime rate up. Report from the wilderness............... In Oz similar things appear to be happening. Many violent criminals get released back into the community until they re-offend in ever more violent ways. One recent example in my local area is of a guy who stalked his neighbour , shot him in his own home and was then released because the judge reckoned he acted 'out of character" . Other examples are abundant and just in my local area. One guy killed his mum but was released to live in her home after they got his medication right. Just the other day a woman ran onto the road screaming in front of me trying to get away from her man who then turned on me for daring to stop and help. Ordinary law abiding upwardly mobile citizns just can't believe its all happening. They hide in their little safe enclaves and put us poor folk down. I've tried telling some people what's going on and they just don't believe me. When it happens to them they wonder why you just shrug and say " you didn't listen to me" We have a government that ignores the poor and a media that won't report the truth. It's difficult to find any-one who gives a shyte they're so busy rushing around. We got Liberals in charge here too.
  8. in reply to "Do you know what you're looking for? " ........................ One thing I'm still not real clear on is the difference between the different types of pilot chutes available (ZP vented F111 + ?? ) and the different sizes required for different objects . Big walling to start with but after that who knows ? Is there such a thing as a standard size PC for big wall jumping? Does it vary with size of canopy and body weight , speed at deployment etc?
  9. Read somewhere that a bunker busting combination nuke could set off their oil fields if placed right. This could hugely increase profits by ten folding the current price. Gotta be good for business wiping out the opposition.
  10. in reply to "Maybe that's what Birdman should be working on...Stealth... ................................................................ nice idea faceted wingsuit . Sort of more seriously ....flat stiffish panels on the undersurface would increase the wings efficiency and perhaps allow for extensions past the arms width.
  11. Get back a good distance. block your ears, shade your eyes &...........
  12. Yu mean you're supposed to dump?
  13. in reply to "infunny little flapping hand shakes and weirdly try to touch every-one in the plane before they get going... -------- we do those too ....................... errr yukky .... freefly germs................. I prefer to guard my handles..... and keep my eyes open....
  14. That's the sort of horror stories I meant. With my organisational abilities I'd pass my new gear in the air about Singapore and have to lurk a bounce or something to get a jump...
  15. in reply to " I get an elbow to the ribs followed by an "oops sorry", I respond "no problem" and look to who got me. Kirk Verner is doing EP's right before he went into his visualization of the same six way. " ........................ You guys have got some of the best to emulate. Here people seem more interested in funny little flapping hand shakes and weirdly try to touch every-one in the plane before they get going... I'll take the EPs any day.

    Now hear this!

in reply to "maybe he can be bothered to conquer you... It'd be a pushover ... if he goes in hard on melbourne cup day, anytime a month before or after Xmas or any week between thurs arvo and tues morn. The drunks 'd line the streets cheering. The red carpet is ready to roll..... fire up young Chris a country awaits your guidance.

  18. in reply to "damn i guess there just arent that many 'cool' jumpers about Eloy then.." ............... Sounds like a HOT place to skydive.
  19. What is the point of the USPA? Like a lot of governing bodies of questionable use they are mostly concerned with the continuation of their own existence.... and attending conferences at others expense. They will be very concerned with justifying their assumed importance in their own secluded and semi-secret world. From the outside they will look sort of irrelevant . From the inside everything they do is of the utmost importance. They will be very good at making a fuss about nothing and achieving very little compared to their founders. They will happily do and say the same things year after year as if they like travelling in circles and going nowhere. They recreate themselves in their own image. They will often truly believe that we cannot get by without them. People who support them financially will often wonder 'why do we pay these guys?.' They are specialists at threatening us with increased insurance costs , rampant out of control danger ,which they think they keep in check, and anything else thay can come up with to mainatain their positions of assumed power.
  20. Does any-one think the BASE influence may bring down opening heights in skydiving wingsuiting by using base canopies and dumping lowish but still adequate time for reserve? Seen a bit of this happening and it does appear almost OK. Instead of approx 5 seconds a thou it's more like 10+ seconds without trying too hard and down below 2000 it's ???
  21. Monkey didn't jump ...he was pushed
  22. Just some thoughts ...& feelings As far as I got it true Christianity (like Christ taught ) has a high tolerance level for all things.... sins and sinners included. Blasphemy as far as I can see is not respecting creation ie all things. To kill in the name of God or attack a fellow human because they're different is a fair bit more serious than making a joke about God. Personally I get the feeling that God ( the poor ol feller ) wants a bit more humour and would appreciate if we all lightened up a bit. (S)he'd probably like a peer or threee to chat with occassionally even an upstart human to give a belly laugh if poss. If the most powerful thing in all creation, ie the creator ,can't take a little joke then its probably a fake god created by intolerant humans. Religious people are religious because they need to get the message meaning they mustn't already know. We probably all need reminding to be good . In the end it's all spiritualism although religions some-how manage to polarise us instead of bringing us together.
  23. in reply to "Yes, but practicing emergency procedures is just not "cool" on some DZs. " .Frankly, I scares me how many licensed jumpers screw up EPs when I ask them to pull their reserve ripcord when their reserves come due for repack. " ........................... I think we've found a flaw in the crystal. In the cool crowd it's not the done thing to imply that any practice is necessary. Then impressionable newbies appear to copy this anti-survival tactic. Over the long term the cool crowd goes cold. often leaving a trail of destruction in its haphazard and often delusional wake. It's probably not cool to notice this tendency or talk about it but I'd prefer to be temperate and survive than cool and dead any-day. I'm reminded a bit of the dog that leads its pack across the highway to thin it out a bit. The faster ones speed over just making it.... the slower less speedy ones at the back of the pack either drop off or get taken out by a truck or two with no brakes. Later on the surviving pack members go back for a feed.
