so how many of us skydivers are either still military jumpers used to be????and whats the best and worst jump you had my best was on sicily dz just before dawn and the sun was comming up it was unusualy warm for that time of day and the ride was calm quiet and landing was soft. my worst was also on sicily dz and i had a bad exit due to the pitch and roll of the aircraft trying to maintain formation(just kind of fell out the door with my 150 lbs of gear) and when my chute finaly opened i had my head pinned down from line twists i tried to bicycle out and finaly got straight literaly one second before hitting the ground. i didnt release my gear but thankfully the sand dune absorbed the shock of impact. i shakely stood up and looked behind me and there was a back hoe not 10 ft. behind me that i passed over and more than likely just missed cus the wind was blowing pretty good. needless to say i fell to my knees and thanked god right then and there I am the light my son...What you seek is fire

wow a mute reminder of the good/bad old days.but i sure do miss them to comment on the leg breaking issue i figured once you get one casuality every 1,000 jumpers (ie. broken leg, twisted vertibre, tree limb through a body part ect....) funny thing though i did 30 jumps with the military and never got so much as a scratch...i did however shatter my ankle on my 7th skydive I am the light my son...What you seek is fire

whats the use worring about the "would have , should have, could have" you cant do a thing about your past except learn from it. a great man once said "I am what I am and thats all that I am, I'm popeye the sailor man" I am the light my son...What you seek is fire

ok some of the things i can agree with but not all. what if the shoe was on the other foot and in todays new world should the same rules apply if the woman is the bread winner? I am the light my son...What you seek is fire

R U looking for a relationship or a short fling?
usmcdannyboy replied to jraf's topic in The Bonfire
people are subconsciously always looking for the perfect someone (i.e. fits the description of what they deem as perfect for them). unless of course they already found them. on the same token people are always looking for fun. the only time it should turn serious is when they have found that perfect someone and can always have fun with them.... Dam I love you guys!!!! i knew i could count on you all to give me some good advice and everyone of you have given me not only good answers but a ton of good questions. it seems a little daunting but it cant hurt to look into this deal. well gotta do my homework now. Thanks a bunch. I'll keep you posted on my progress to answer why she doesnt sell to the bussinessman, he wants the house to use for single family..she wont be able to live the rest of her life in the home she raised her family in. Take risks not to escape life, but to keep life from escaping..if i get myself in a jam and loose my ass in it then ill just sell everything i have and become a dropzone rat and beg for jumps I am the light my son...What you seek is fire

ok heres the deal about this post. I trust you all not to steer me too far off course. i was offered to buy the property i currently rent a room from. the reason is, this nice old lady (72 yrs old) is in financial trouble because of a visit to the hospital that lasted 2 months. her family cant help her and i just so happen to be "the good tenant" and in the military (she just plain likes me ) she offers to sell to me to help her out of trouble. this means i have a chance to pick up a property that has a 3 bedroom apt., a 2 bedroom apt., and a 6 bedroom house for a easy $540,000. the house has been appraised for $700,000 and she has been offered 1.5M by a bussinessman 6 months ago. the income on the apartment covers the mortgage and utilities for the entire property with change to spare. so far the only catch is i dont have the down payment, nor will i ever on a sergeants pay. oh did i mention the 6 bedroom house has 7 tenants counting the owner and myself. oh and the other catch is i'll let the lady i am helping live the rest of her life here...(she's 72, a diabetic and 250 lbs) sad to say may not be long. this is a shot gun blast of what i am dealing with knowing that the skydiving community is full of brite people and go get'rs im hoping that someone can help....lets see where this thread goes I am the light my son...What you seek is fire

ok mine isnt that weird but here it goes: I found myself on a navy ship back on deployment but this time in the north atlantic. we stopped in some swedish or norse country. i get off the ship and see my buddies and so running up to them i ask what the hell they are doing here. and im told that their doing a demo. i say cool and follow them to the airport and i get into a chopper with my friend paul. i look at the pilot and its this guy skippy but skippy dont have a licence to fly a chopper (oh well he's good anyway). so we climb to 10k in 2 sec. we jump and fall for a long time . pull time hits and i look at my friend and he cant pull his ripcord???? i yell and yell but he cant hear me. he then takes his rig off and throws it. i think oh shit!! i look down and here comes the chopper right under us.. (now i do shit) but just as we get to the chopper it flips on its side and we fall right into our seats and skippy takes down to the bay that we jumped over. he snags the rig on the skid of the chopper and i pull it off and hand it to paul who puts it on and we go to altitude again.... we jump and this time I cant pull... i keep trying and trying till i figur im going to hit anyway. i look and im still at an ungodly height. and with renewed vigor i keep trying to pull but then i say screw it and let myself enjoy the ride to the water. i hit and swim to the surface i look around and all of a sudden the water is swirling.. i look down into the water and see the chopper blades coming up next to me and the chopper then surfaces and i see skippy and he asks "NEED A LIFT?" i say hell yea and get back in and then i wake up....the weird thing isnt the dream but the very next jump......landed out. i hit a tree and fell 40 feet to a concrete drivway. did a perfect plf and only broke an ankle....can you say premonition (i cant spell it though) I am the light my son...What you seek is fire
