  1. Don't start. I already feel guilty every time I see Stand and Deliver or Lean On Me. And ESPECIALLY that friggin' Mr. Holland's Opus! I know, I know......too many of my posts are about movies, and technically, this is a hijack....but I LOVE Stand and Deliver. THAT'S A MOVIE! I used to make fun of Holland's Opus cauise my sister loves it......now I stand a chance of losing a limb since a certain lady skydiver likes it. Granted, I have never seen it, but I like to think I am smarter now.
  2. That is the kind of humility that keeps people around a long time. Glad you are ok and that you were able to keep your shit wired tight.
  3. I am at my office, on a friday night no less, waiting for clients. How fucked up is that?
  4. Kind of a bit in shock right now. This sux and I can't do a damned thing about it othe than pray for him. Hopefully, the time will come for you to be able to do more than that. Until then, that is as good a place as any to start. Lost a good friend and great person to suicide in grad school and I think about him all the time. Here's hoping you don't have to go the same route.
  5. This one is definitely porn though: http://www.shutterpoint.com/Photos-ViewPhoto.cfm?id=286164 yeah, car porn. I had to look twice before I even noticed the chickage.
  6. dude, get a life and avoid thunderstorms; trust me on this one.
  7. I think this comparison is weak. You are talking about a life altering moment with a context that is altogether different than the "everday" aspect of daily life. I think there is an argument that making life changes that last on a day-to-day basis is harder than that one moment of clarity that comes from (and after), a life or death experience. I don't begrudge anybody their opinion. After all, opinions are like assholes, everybody has them, but it really makes me sad that someone would share something so personal about themselves and that someone would marginalize that struggle and that person. Well done "mate", I am sure you are really proud of yourself.
  8. Tooth polish? FUCK'M!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. That is the rub, isn't it? If you are smoke, drug, and alcohol free......you don't have to go to the well three times a day. Would the alcoholics here be able to have 1 shot with breakfast, lunch, or dinner? I have heard it compared to "letting the tiger out of the cage three times a day and trying to get him back in after every meal." Finally, I have to applaud Krisanne for sharing such a deep and personal part of who she is with us. She's got brains, beauty AND guts.
  10. oh man......I miss all the fun. The place looks cool. I especially dig that they serve soju and make their own lemon-lime mixer. on the other hand, a habanero bloody mary always sounds good. I hate showing up to a place and it taking me 5 minutes to decide what to have when EVERYTHING looks good. ugh....I need a vacation. how in the hell am I gonna be able to stay focused at a meeting in 1/2 hour.
  11. rflmao.....I really needed that. Today has been, how shall I say, "challenging". New Belgium Beer or Budweiser *pauses, does math and chooses* (you can guess the rest)
  12. IF you did "bugger" it up (which I am sure you didn't), you have to read Coupland's Microserfs. Trust me, you will feel better. On the other hand, if you crushed it, definitely DON'T read it. good luck
  13. haven't had chocolate since october. that said, it doesn't seem to stop me from keeping a certain someone in Valrohna.
  14. Remi is in Eloy, right? Yer good then. canucks for dummies. You guys kill me.
  15. so it's true what they say about good things coming in small packages. edited to add: 5'11" for me
  16. you beat me to the punch! uh, what I meant to say was "hmm, what an interesting phenomenon."
  17. Has SQ1s website been updated yet? It still looks like the old one to me.
  18. gear aside, that was sorta cool.
  19. here's hoping all goes well and you get your knees in the breeze QUICK!
  20. you have yourself a nice family. making sure your son hears you first thing in the morning and last thing at night will do wonders. While I am not married, for now, I live apart from my loved one and that means a lot to the both of us. good luck and congrats on the new job.
  21. I would follow through with police if there is a leash law. My greyhound, Omar, who died two weeks ago, was mauled by a dog that should have been on a harness. ANYWAY, the owner payed Omar's bills and begged me not to pursue charges while stressing his dog was a rescue as well and that he PROMISED his dog would never be without a harness again. Two weeks later I look up and he and his dog are hiding behind a tree, waiting for me to keep walking. Also found out that a dog was killed by his dog. Shortly thereafter I moved and didn't have time to follow up and I always regretted it. Do what you have to do honor the pet you lost, to keep the ones you have safe, and to protect what other people and or pets that are potential targets in the future. sorry for your loss.
