Steve, you probably won't see this, but if you do, thanks for everything man. It was because of you and Dan-O and your teachings/lessons through AFF, that I am on my way to an A-License very soon. I will never forget what you said to me after my first jump when I didn't flare....hahah Seriously though, thanks man, you were one of the ones I learned alot from. Good luck dude and blue skies... Hopefully I'll see you at Eloy this year , but if not, I'll see you next sxummer back out in CO... take it easy... Carl Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----

:2:0 Oh man, its about f*cking time. My fraternity had a Barndance date party this week so thats where the hump came in....haha 2 jumps today. 1 solo jump and 1 coach jump doing Fall Rate Adjustments. Getting ever so close to getting my A-license!!! I can't wait! Hoping to make at least 4 more this week. No beer owed......yet... Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----

Ok, so when I said I drink, i have like one or two beers when im working, not like a 12 pack And no its not thermodynamics, but close, its aerodynamics and my 300 level aero lab using stats analysis. I guess senior year is just starting to get to me....i'll be here for a 5th year though because of my double with spanish... Thanks everyone for the advice.....and good point about my A license, i guess i could finish in Eloy if I dont get it this month. I've still only had like 2 hours of sleep though... Good point, i know friends who are and I always contribute to their celebration of finishing the MCAT, i would never be able to take that exam. I did take organic chemistry for fun and as a break from engineering last semester....i really liked it.... Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----

No seriously, this is pissing me off. I've been working on this fucking homework assignment for 7 hours and am not even halfway through it. Is there really a reason to make the assignment this hard? I mean, engineering is a bitch in general, but what are professors trying to prove. All this fucking homework is cutting in the way of other things. It's preventing me from jumping. I havent jumped in like 2.5 weeks or something ridiculous. I now have until Oct. 31st to finish my 'A' License qualifications and I'll be damned if I miss the Skydive Arizona boogie and just basically dont jump until march because of not having it...... I haven't had sex in who knows how long......so yeah, sexual frustration is in full effect....Thank God, i'm going on a Barndance Date party with my fraternity wednesday.....I need a break I haven't been able to go to the bar with my friends so i just drink while i do homework....i havent been to the DZ to hang out with everyone and drink there.... All i've been doing is either working and saving money for arizona, stuck in my room or the grad library doing work, or in class...I havent even gotten to hang out with all the new hot ass sorority pledges, let alone our own pledges......it fucking sucks.... I know people say enjoy your college years, and I am, believe you me, but class makes it hard as its supposed to be, i know. I'm just hoping that one day this staying up, sleep deprivation, and starvation will be highly worth it......] Sorry, I had to vent a little.....for those of you who get to jump, make one for me or have a beer for me, or both.....thanks... The one thing I am looking forward to (other than our date party) is the football game this weekend....and possibly jumping afterwards.... Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----

Would you let a 13 year old do a tandem?

The funny thing is, is that yes it is a very funny statement, its incredibly accurate. Alot of my family, they don't understand why I skydive. My mother doesn't even like me talking about it to her and she goes into tears EVERY time, i talk to her about it. My dad and stepmom on the other hand are WAY cool about it. My dad wants to try a tandem and may even come out to arizona to do the windtunnel with me. Anyways, but yes, you will hear that type of reply from alot of black people. They think its crazy and that only "crazy white people do it and i'm not supposed to do that" and i tell them why does that matter. I love hanging out and meeting new people and why does the fact that i'm black have to dictate what things I can do in life, thats bullshit. I'm a HUGE adrenaline junkie and skydiving is right up my alley and I LOVE every minute of it and will continue to do it until i physically can't anymore. Many times, I am the only black guy at a dropzone, I was in Colorado this summer and I am at michigan (at least that I know of). And thats fine, I like being different and doing stuff that people are like, "wow you're fucking crazy." Damn right I am.....I love the reaction I get. Like a guy said to me 2 years ago when I made my first jump as a tandem, "Dude, I'm incredibly proud of you right now...." Me: "Why?" "Because you're like the second black guy i've seen do this since like 1992, and thats awesome that you love this!" Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----

I agree with everything in the above post and many of my reasons are similar. I travel because I wanna meet new people and get the advantage to learn new things from others. I'm still very young in the sport and I wanna be as good I can be. I'm saving up to go to Skydive Arizona for their christmas boogie, so i can have a good time, be in a warm climate for christmas, and fly in the windtunnel there.....Those are my reasons... Oh, and minorities skydive.......at least this one does Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----

Ok, i searched for this and found nothing. Seeing as this will be my first boogie ever and i'm trying to save for it and plan for it now. I was looking at flights out there the other day and came to the question of: Where do we stay or I stay? For those who have gone there or any boogie, how does it work? Do you guys stay in tents? wherever you blackout that night? Stay in hotels? I do have a 7 person tent i wouldnt mind bringing to avoid hotel costs? All opinions/ideas are welcome

AFF/AFP Training and repeating levels
psipike02 replied to jigneshsoni's topic in Safety and Training
Jigs, Everything everyone here has told you is sooo true and you know it. I've had private convo's with you about this. I'm just reinforcing what everyone else is saying, because no matter how many times its said, when you're a student, you always need to hear it again. You're doing great bro. You DONT SUCK AT IT.....its not uncommom for students to take longer on some levels. Level 3 and 4 and two most common ones that students end up repeating. I repeated AFF4 3 times, went to a windtunnel, came back, did a heading dive, then combined my 4 and 5. I spun up on my 4 all those times and one time, my JM couldn't stop me and i was still spinning at pull time, but I still pulled on time, and with that, he was SO happy that I was still altitude aware. You've made 15 jumps, which means you've landed 15 times. I'd say you dont suck at it. I also understand the instructor thing, but its ok if you feel that way, but I definately encourage you to jump with different instructors if yours isn't there, they will all have different things to teach you and contribute. By the time I graduated AFF on Aug. 20th, I bought 7 different instructors beer, because they had all jumped with me (some more than others) and I felt i needed to thank them all. All the instructors want to see you succeed and they're behind you every step of the way. SO, in closing my rambling, just go out there, and during your dirt dives on the ground, close your eyes and go through your dive flow and imagine the "perfect skydive" as my instructors used to tell me. Go through the motions, since you've spun before it shouldnt be as shocking anymore, be aware of your body positions. Just to show you, i'm very close to getting my 'A' License and on my last jump, i started to spin a little coming out of the plane, but i pointed my toes, arched, relaxed, focused on a heading and countered the spin and stopped it. You can do this man. Try this, on your next jump, ask your instructor, if when you jump and he lets go and if you're stable for a bit, if he can come around in front of you. My instructor did this and once he did, i was the most motionless person in the air, we fell in perfect sync. All it was was that it took my mind off of spinning and i stopped thinking about it. And honestly thats all it takes....it sounds easy because it is......your mind tries to take over and process a bajillion different things. Don't let it...and dont let that panic button go off. RELAX, arch, are your hands where they need to be? Are you pointing your toes, are your legs right? All that stuff helps. Talk to your instructor about it more, but this is my advice coming from one student to another. So KEEP JUMPING dude, i wrote so much because i felt the same way you did when I was going through AFF, so I can DEFINATELY relate. Keep your head up, you're doing great man. Let us know how you're doing.....PM me if you wanna talk more. Blue Skies... Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707---- -
Yeah see this is the other problem, now I would probably buy that suit off of you, but i'm a big guy. I'm 6'6 and 238 lbs with a size 16 shoe....yeahhh... So just like everything else in my life *clothes, shoes, desks, seats* I guess i'll have it custom made....ah well... Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----

Ok, so i'm almost to my A-license and want to start thinking about a jumpsuit soon. Especially since I'll probably be out in Eloy for christmas and DEFINATELY want one by then. So can anyone point me to somewhere to start looking, i'm not quite sure the way to go. I know what type of disciplines, i'm kind of interested in. That would be Relative Work and everyone at Tecumseh is gonna try to get me to Freefly once I get my A. So i know those require two different suits. Anyways, where can I start looking and how much do they usually average in cost? Any AND all help is greatly appreciated guys... Carl Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----

What made you want to pursue skydiving?
psipike02 replied to b_dog's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That is so awesome.....I didn't start jumping for the same reason, but when I jump, I sometimes think of my grandfather who passed last January, I know he would get a kick out of me skydiving. But i started because i'm an adrenaline junkie and skydiving is right up my alley... Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----
