  1. If you are looking at a RW suit, get booties. Well that suit will come later, but no this is a freefly suit Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----
  2. Pockets are good things to have. Get at least one. You'll be glad you did. How do you know you won't need a hook knife soon? True, now that I re-read that I didn't mean for it to come across cocky....I meant that I figured that it was rare for novice jumper to have one, I figured it was something meant for more experienced jumpers. 3. Ok, I've searched some of this and got answers, but the one question i couldn't find anything on and the other I still want people's opinion on. Really kind of basic. First, spandex legcuffs, is there an advantage or disadvantage to getting them? Are they necessary? Do they increase drag? I'm just shootin some questions out there.... Secondly, a leg pocket. I dont really see the need in having one as I don't feel I will be needing a hook knife this early in the game, so is there a point to getting one? Thanks everyone.. 4. My dog likes to run around the couch and then the table in a figure 8 and then he hops up on the couch and sits on the edge of it like a cat does.... When I come home from college, he knows I'm home so he'll go smell my bookbag and shoes and go wait by the door until I get back from whereever...not really weird, but cute nonetheless Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----
  5. No worries man, I did my AFF last summer and finished on Aug. 10th. Started my coach jumps and got to 21 jumps in october. Had to stop because of winter and then started back up in May and got my 'A' on May 9th. So 10 months long....I know how you feel. The point is that we have it now. Thats all that matters I haven't been able to make a jump yet because of no $$$, so i'm on hold until I get paid. I was able to do my Water Training the other day though...that was cool Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----

  7. I almost drowned when I was 6 at my friends birthday party. When we moved to my home now 2 years later, my parents enrolled me in swim lessons at the Y during summer camps.... I didn't like it at the time because other kids were better at it than I was.....then I got better....way better...and ended up being better than the kids I grew up with... My parents said that I always liked the water and once I learned, i swam like a fish....it was a second home for me....kind of like the sky is now Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----

  9. I'm kind of going through it now. After I got my A a few weeks ago, I had did about 5 jumps during the weekend. Well I moved to colorado to do an internship and currently do not have the money to jump. So I find myself at work during the day figity like yourself and i start to sweat and my hands shake a little when I start to think about it. Its weird. Its only when I get a chance to go to the DZ and hang out, that it goes away temporarily, jumping or not. It's a drug....maybe I'm just weird like that, but glad you' feel somewhat the same stuff Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----

  17. Ok, so in a week I'll be driving from pennsylvania (where I'm from) to colorado for my internship for the summer. This is the second time making this drive, but last year, I wasn't a skydiver nor did I have a license. So as I'm planning and mapping out my trip and want to know if you guys knew of any good spots to stop off at that would help me keep me sanity. (Skydiving related or not) I'd like to stop at different dropzones if they're somewhat near where i'm gonna be passing through. My plan is to take I-80 W to I-280 W through Illinois and Iowa and back onto I-80 W through Nebraska and to I-76 S on into colorado. I'm stopping off and making it a 2 day trip. So yeah any ideas are welcome, help me out guys...its a 19 hour trip and my iPod can only help so much... Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----

It felt like it would never get here, but now it has and my friends were doin tandems while it happened, so they got to be there for the officialness and stuff. Damn it feels good to finally have it....I can't wait for what's next and to keep learning and go on fun jumps with other jumpers now!!! 23. I'm not too far removed from my AFF, so I figured I would chime in. Your situation is somewhat similar to mine. Instead of not being able to leave, I would get Door Fear and start getting really nervous, which was very common. You can ask anyone who's made a jump with me, i would be so nervous during the flight up. Its definately gotten better with the more jumps I've got. Anyways, I forgot who said it, so forgive me, but the person(s) who said "don't think too much," - they're exactly right. Don't over analyze the jump, its ok to be nervous during AFF, thats normal. But be confident in yourself and what you've learned so far. You've done that exit several times, so when you go, just close your eyes, take a few seconds before you go to relax. Also, they were right too, don't worry aout people in the plane. That only complicates your skydive more. Leaving without them holding on to you is a big deal, as I remember my first few times doing so, but you get better and it won't be as weird the more you do it. One thing I like to do and that I even did last week on my recurrency jump when I get nervous or think I can't leave is this. First: On the way up, run through the skydive in your head. Go through the exit and the rest. See yourself leaving. Imagine the perfect skydive. Even do this on the ground. It'll make you more comfortable. Do this a few times.. Next: One of my friends who just got his AFF rating, always told me to think of something funny right as I'm getting out of the door. Think of a funny moment, stick your tongue out at your AFFI, it will completely relax you and de-tensify(?) your muscles. Another thing you can do is think of a favorite song that motivates you and gets you pumped. I've done this and it works every time. I know this is long so I apologize...but one last thing that worked was on my Level 7 graduation jump, I was nervous and we had to fly around to jump run again. In that time, I looked out of the door into the vast scenery around, the clouds, the mountains, everything....this may sound lame, but at that instant, i was so captured by the magnificence of everything, that any nervousness or anxiety I had about leaving left me instantly. The door opened, my favorite song clicked on, and out I went.... Those are some things to try...but find your own way to cope. Let us know how it goes and good luck! Blue skies!
