  2. Ehhh...i wouldn't say pennsylvania depressing, its better than Ohio or Nebraska or Kansas. Just depends on where you are. I'm from Pittsburgh and since they're building it up, its gotten better and obviously Philly is the tits too... If you up in the north west or middle part near the blue mountains and stuff it can be very nice....but as for the rest of it,, then yeah its depressing Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----
  3. I wouldn't go back to my twenties either... I don't know if I'd say I've grown more graceful but I've definitely improved with age... So question, why wouldn't you go back to your twenties? Was it that bad? I'm gonna be 22 on the 29th of this month and I love my twenties. Wondering if i was missing something? Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----

  9. Ok, so I've literally watched this show since I was like 14. I know its another dumb reality show and i'd be airing my entire life on there, but it seems fun... They are having open calls pretty soon but for right now are only accepting tapes. I know the odds, but its worth a shot. I've talked to several former members like Landon, Trishelle, Jaime, Tanya, etc. on spring break in mexico and asked them their opinions and how to get on there...I met them by way of my spring break company... Anyways, everyone has always told me I'd be really good on there and that I have that personality, so i decided to give it a shot? My question, in my video I have to tell them about myself. Do I tell them I'm a skydiver or no? It could have positives and negatives? Esp. cause the next city I heard is Denver...I figure they need at least ONE black guy on there...and a black guy who skydives...come on.. If i got on, would you guys watch it?? hahah... 10. I'm an adrenaline junkie and up until 2 years ago, knew it was something I wanted to do, but never the ways or resources to go about doing it. When I did my first internship out here in Colorado in 2004, a guy i worked with was going through AFF and he took a group of us. I decided to go and make a tandem. Little did I know that I was hooked from that point. I was raving about it and my parents (more my mom than dad) was shocked that I did it. The next summer when I came back again to do a second internship here, I couldn't stop thinking about it. I enrolled in the AFF course and it took me all summer until the day before I had to drive back to michigan for school to pass AFF and then made my first solo the morning I left. Now its the third summer out here (hopefully the last before I move out here permanently) and I have my A license....my dad has no problem and my step mom kind of worries about me. My mom tries to deny that i do it and my sister doesn't understand....oh well I'm putting my dad and step mom in the tunnel here when they come out for my birthday in 28 days... 13. Karen I agree with that. If you don't want to piss people off, DZ's could always adopt the same policy that amusement parks have. When I worked at Cedar Point, along with any park, there is always a demo seat at the beginning of the line that you can try out. Do people use it? No....so then they get mad when they waited 3 hours to get on Millenium Force and as manager I had to politely tell them that "our restraints are unable to accomodate you, I'm sorry." Obviously we can't set out a tandem harness and be like "HEY TRY IT ON!!" but maybe if there are signs or its stated on the waiver beforehand, that may give people a heads up or something? or maybe deter people who may question their size. I know there are signs about size restrictions, but people only see "you have to be XXX weight" they don't actually see the harness, so they just assume.... Just tossin it out there....if you dont like, just toss it back.... Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----

  15. Ok so England has "tea time." Spain has a 2 hour long siesta from 3-5 pm. Why doesn't the US have something like this. Maybe Beer time....or Beer AND Nap time....everyday everyone must take 2 hours and drink and/or nap..... Well i guess thats Happy Hour isnt it.....alright scratch that....sorry I'm at work bored...ha Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----
  16. I definately agree. How would we get around that? 2 years ago when I did my tandem, I was 232 lbs and I'm 6'5. The limit was 210 and my instructor still took me because he said I was in shape and my weight is muscle. (as muscle weighs more than fat) We had a flawless skydive... Even with AFF, I wingload the shit out of my canopy. I've gotten bigger as I work out and weigh 240 now. So by BMI standards, mine is like 27.5, which is "overweight" But if you look at me, you'd never guess I weigh 240. So, obviously each situation would have to be looked at differently. As some people's BMI's don't take into account how often they work out, how tall they are and stuff like that. Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----

  19. As other people have echoed as well, I definately agree. Dg, what you said is true. I didn't take it as harsh at all. I think that was one thing that my AFF-I's and even my friends now who have more jumps than me always try to instill. The very first thing Dan-O & Steve said in our FJC was that "You are 100% responsible for what happens to you up there...EVERY TIME." This weekend I saw two people get injured at my DZ.....it was surreal. You always read about it in the incident forum but when you witness it first hand, its a little shocking. It doesn't necessarily scare me out of skydiving, as it makes me want to be safer and learn from the mistakes of others if you will.... Anyways, it was a good post....thats definately something every student/low jumper should have said to them... Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----
  20. I'm sad that I haven't been in the sport long enough to have met her personally, but she did seem like an awesome person who never let anything bother her and would always make you laugh....at least I got that from her posts.. My prayers go out to everyone who is affected and to her family and friends as well.... Blue Skies Forever Shannon Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----

  24. Oh man, this could be long: I'm still a beginner, so I'm sure this list will grow over the next year, but so far: Basically anyone and everyone at Mile-Hi who encouraged me when I was bummed about not passing my level 4 twice and everyone who kept me going through my AFF and who taught me how to become a better skydiver: These are the HEROES, the ones who dared to jump with me during AFF: Brad, Russ, Nick, Miami, and Ron and also Travis. When i first got onto DZ.com, and I was pissed about skydives, he would always have my back and just give me tips and kept me going by encouraging me. That meant more than anything to me... And there's just too many people at Mile-Hi to name. From Brady, Josh, Seth, Jeremy, Jesse, and any of the other packers that kept me alive. Chris, Billy, Josh, Keith, Dave B., Mike P., Justin, Tom, and honestly everyone else there who took me under their wings and answered every single question I ever had about skydiving or canopy or different disciplines or packing. I'm still in awe of all the stuff that everyone is involved in, whether that be freeflying, or an AFF instructor or a TI, I aspire to be all of those at some point in my future, so just to be allowed to hang out and watch and ask why....I learn a shitton from you guys... Ok, after i got through AFF, I went back to school in Michigan and went to Tecumseh. I was a little unsure on my first drive up to the DZ, whether the atmosphere would be cool, if the jumpers there would accept me, if I would EVER get my 'A' License.....those questions.... Man....what I found was an awesome DZ that I'm proud to be a part of now. I remember emailing Chrissy and Adrienne before I came out and they just kind of welcomed me. Then....I made my first jump there...it was an H&P from 5500' out of a Cessna which I had never jumped before..... Through september to november almost, I got throught the majority of my jumps with Jimo, Adam, Travis, Goatboy, and Karl. Everyone always talked about how fast I fall and so when it came time for Fall rate changes, Karl stepped up. I intially learned how to pack from Jimbo and Mindy would give me tips too and Adam and Adrienne would help too when they weren't making fun of me for taking 45 min to pack. Then I got to know Sporto and Marshall and Cheryll and Cindy and Mark and Alison and Sealy and Kip and Rex and Amanda and Mindy and TON of other people who I would just watch and take in so much. I remember watching videos of them Freeflying. It was definately during that period that I decided I wanted to get into Freeflying....that was only multiplied more aftere I watched those guys out here in Colorado with TJ Landgren in the tunnel... Anyways, Finally winter passed and it was time to get recurrent. Travis helped with that and then I had to grow some balls and do my H&P's....after I did my checkout dive and last swoop and dock. I did the majority of my last jumps with Goatboy and I know I will never live down my last H&P from 3500'.....it was....special... But I had to leave for CO before I got make my first official non-student status jump there, but I'm looking forward to getting back there in the fall to absorb everything they have to teach and say.... I love everyone who's taken me in and showed me some love and the way to go and can't wait until I'm on the same level that all these guys (and girls) are on....I can't even imagine... Looking forward to meeting some more new peeps too at other DZ's... Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----
