LM splits 10s. I'm shocked. Truly. Shocked. Rick: How can you close me up? On what grounds? Captain Renault: I'm shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here! [a croupier hands Renault a pile of money] Croupier: Your winnings, sir. Captain Renault: [sotto voce] Oh, thank you very much. [aloud] Captain Renault: Everybody out at once! _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

Which part? The mother because her daughter kept beating the shit out of her and she couldn't fight back, or the dispatcher with his response? One never knows with you, Lisa. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

I can't believe, based on where she stored her handles, that no one made even ONE pun reference to her "keeping abreast of the situation," or "informing us of this titilating story," or the like... If you're not doing anything in NYC tomorrow morning
ntrprnr replied to ntrprnr's topic in The Bonfire
Thanks... Watching the race TiVo'd on ABC from this morning. I've got to up my speed work - Got a bit over 2 months to marathon day. Got to increase my speed, and do a lot of hill training. I'm thinking twice a week of sprints at the 59th St. Bridge - 4 or 5 times per workout - should help. If I can do 1:52, I can do 1:48 at the Staten Island half in October. That would give me a really good cushion for a sub-4 marathon. Once that happens, I never have to run again. Not even for a f'ing bus. :D Funny thing is, I spent miles .25 to 4.0 cramping up something fierce, then spent the rest of the race with blisters. Why I do this shit is beyond me. It's worse that drugs. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues." -

Wow. I guess training really does pay off... Who knew? 1:52:23. Over 2:30 better than any previous half. And it rained. Sore. Achy. But happy. -
I have no idea what it means, either. But I just got the email as a Wall St. Journal News Alert. So I figured it must be important. Oh, I figured it out. It creates Italy's largest retail bank. Woo. Yes. Woo. I'm excited. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

Social handgrenade....letter writing advice needed...
ntrprnr replied to Sockpuppet's topic in The Bonfire
See? That's the problem. I couldn't even be bothered to read that whole thing on here, and it's Saturday, when I've nothing to do. Your job to use big words, be flowery, and impress over more than eight seconds, is WHEN YOU GET THE INTERVIEW. Once in the office, charm the shit out of them. Of course, Karen probably got the job anyway, cause she's cool. But again.... personally. Follow Peters advice. karen _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" Major points (from someone who had to hire a ton...) SPELLING SPELLING SPELLING. And DON'T just rely on spell check. When spell check doesn't know a word, and you assume it won't, (think TD WATERHOUSE) you won't expect it to know it, you'll click ignore. But what if you STILL spelled it wrong? Someone didn't get a call for an interview with my first agency because she had previously worked at "TD WAETRHOUSE." Keep it simple. Dear. I'm applying for... My reesume is enclosed. You'll see that I'm well quialified for this position, in part because of my experience with X, as well as my life-long fascination with Y. I thank you for taking the time, looking forward to speaking with you, blah, blah,, sincerely, sockpuppet. Under 3 paragraphs. More than 3? Too long. Happy to see it after you write it, if you'd like some crit. -Peter _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues." -

Come cheer me on as I run this. Chances are, it starts before most of you have gone to bed anyway, so come out and cheer, then go have breakfast, then go home to bed. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues." -
Hello, we'd like you to have this flower from the church of religious consciousness, would you care to make a donation? God, I forgot how funny this movie is. "Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary." Steve Jobs _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
