  1. To answer your question, the second one is more striking. But, I'm also in the camp that believes that sunsets work better in a landscape format. Beautiful shots, though! -Peter PS: PM me your email, I'll send you some sunset shots I took from my balcony... _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" 3. Got into them about six months ago for running - now I rarely turn on the hot water. It's the best wake up call there is - better than coffee. I used to be such a hot water slut, too - but now it's all about the blast of the arctic. Anyone else? _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" Ignore the fact that in two of them, I'm deep in conversation, and in another one, I look like I should be wearing a helmet. I'd have one made up for a publicity shot - there are two in there that I think work - but I'm not gonna say which ones. Which ones don't suck? -Peter _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

  8. Just been sitting here reading some posts... ChasingBlueSky's post about seeing a dying parent made me think... I do a lot of things - I'm involved in a lot of sports/groups/professional orgs/etc... But never, and I mean NEVER, have I seen a more compassionate, caring, and all-around DECENT group of people than the skydivers we call our friends on dropzone.com. I know this is going to sound completely cheesy and trite, but I really do feel blessed, privileged, humbled, and honored to be a part of this forum. We're all really something wonderful. OK. I'm done. Go back to ragging on me for whatever.

  10. About four years ago, a chopper went down in Brooklyn, while covering a suspect fleeing from police. The reporter who escaped relatively unharmed from what should have been nothing more than death was Andrew Torres, my best friend in the world since High School. I called him after this happened and asked how he was - it's a small community of news chopper pilots. 12. I did Fox News about the whole Aquafina thing today. The reporter seemed a bit perturbed when she looked down and realized she was in fact drinking Aquafina. Hee. You-tubing it now. 14. The New York Times callback # on caller ID is 111-111-1111 - It's how everyone in our office knows to drop everything and answer the phone. Other companies realized this and switched to that. You can have the phone company change your caller ID if you pay a hefty premium. AmEx Concierge, for instance, is 000-000-0000. Sounds like it's probably a business that wants to get you on the phone in person as opposed to leaving a voice mail. Wouldn't worry too much about it. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

  18. I probably meant an OC-192... I remember working at AOL and having an entire OC-3 pipe at my disposal. Talk about feeling like God.
  19. Major power outage below a major OC-3 artery in San Francisco. Sites ranging from Technorati.com (www.technorati.com) to Typepad www.typepad.com (which hosts thousands of blogs, including PRDifferently.com www.prdifferently.com are all down. 21. I did it I did it I did it! AND I did it in under Three Hours!! Woo!! http://triathlons.accenture.com/NewYork/tracking/Map.aspx?bib=3927 For my first Olympic, I'm very happy with my time. I've got to get quicker in the transitions, and fortunately, the Hudson River current was insane - VERY quick. So it was good. I was happy. All is well. I'll tell you, though... I don't know if I'd do this one again. 5,000 people, a three hour wave start, and not starting until over an HOUR after the winner finished? That kind of sucked. I'm thinking that if I do train for a half-ironman, I'd like to do it in a much smaller environment. 500 people, MAX. Was running into the park for the run, and people were walking out with their medals. And it wasn't like they were faster - they'd just started like, two hours ahead of me. Grr... Of course, the one photo today that dad got was me chowing down on some Jelly Belly Sport Beans after getting on the run. Lovely. :) Thanks, y'all, for all the encouragement! Actually, found a second photo - mom, dad, and me, after the race.

  23. We'll see... I really want to train - It's a question of motivation - which is coming, definitely... Who knows. It's frustrating as hell. I ran a 4 mile race this morning, at an 8:04 pace. Not bad, right? Pretty decent, by most standards. Except that there were 11 members of my team who ran it with me - I finished 10th of 12th of my team. Does that mean I suck? No. But in my twisted, messed up little brain, it means that I'm unbelievably slow - despite the fact that I came in 1255th out of 4038 - That's a really, really decent amount, right? Except that I look at the 10th of 12 and think - "wow, I suck." It's more psychological than anything else. Either way... Your comment about skiing reminds me of a joke... An American investment banker was at the pier of a small coastal Mexican village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked. Inside the small boat were several large yellow fin tuna. The American complimented the Mexican on the quality of his fish and asked, "How long does it take to catch them?" The Mexican replied: "Only a little while". The American then asked why didn't he stay out longer and catch more fish? The Mexican said he had enough to support his family's immediate needs. The American then asked, "But what do you do with the rest of your time?" The Mexican fisherman said, "I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take siesta with my wife, Maria, stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine and play guitar with my amigos, I have a full and busy life." The American scoffed, "I am a Harvard MBA and could help you. You should spend more time fishing and with the proceeds, buy a bigger boat with the proceeds from the bigger boat you could buy several boats, eventually you would have a fleet of fishing boats. Instead of selling your catch to a middleman you would sell directly to the processor, eventually opening your own cannery. You would control the product, processing and distribution. You would need to leave this small coastal fishing village and move to Mexico City, then LA and eventually NYC where you will run your expanding enterprise." The Mexican fisherman asked, "But, how long will this all take?" To which the American replied, "15-20 years." "But what then?" The American laughed and said that's the best part. "When the time is right you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich, you would make millions." "Millions.. Then what?" The American said, "Then you would retire. Move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take siesta with your wife, stroll to the village in the evenings where you could sip wine and play your guitar with your amigos." Sigh. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  24. There 34 waves in the start. I'm in wave 32. It's going to take a freaking YEAR to get in the water. Nothing like sitting around the start area for THREE FREAKING HOURS. Yuck. I hate that. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
