Clearly you've never been to The Ranch. A sportsman is typically a heavily armed, hard drinking skydiver, amiable to most people. They're fun to hang out with. Good people. We are all engines of karma

Obama to impose $100-per-flight Skydiving Tax

Uhm, when you take all of their profits and taxable revenue, I don't think there is any room level for loopholes... We are all engines of karma -
Obama: Americans must pay fair share to cut deficit

Another thread showed there is simply not enough money, even if you took all corporate profits and all taxable income of millionaires and billionaires, to cover this. The Federal Government must cut spending, and by alot. We are all engines of karma -
Obama: Americans must pay fair share to cut deficit

I don't think that's going to be the panacea people expect. The language in bills is invariable ambiguous. So, that means a judge would have to interpret what they meant. Too much leeway for an activist judge to take over Congress' job. We are all engines of karma -

I am sick of Obama, much more so than any other president I've witnessed. I'm even more sick of hearing liberals use the "fair" word. At this point in time, it comes across as self entitled whining on their part, IMO. We are all engines of karma -
So the banks got TARP for screwing up....
StreetScooby replied to shah269's topic in Speakers Corner
Capitalism in its purest form! For what it's worth, my long term bank did help me and my wife out in a difficult time, and they were exceedingly fair when they did so, even though my immediate credit score could have warranted something far more onerous. We are all engines of karma -

I am very sorry to hear about the death of your sister. With regards to your husband, it doesn't sound like he's placing "4-way" or fun jumping above family. Looks like he's actually earning money. Having been in a position where I had to earn, that did cause a different order of priorities for me at times. Not sure if this applies to your situation. We are all engines of karma

Let me share some personal experience with you... Shortly after 9/11, I broke my back. I had no money coming in, and a shit ton of money going out. As I'm laying in the hospital bed, looking at a $25K bill that insurance probably wasn't going to cover, in pain like I have never felt before, I made a decision that I regret to this day. "Wife, don't pay anything on the credit cards this month, not even the minimum". Just for one month... My credit went from 820 to just over 400. Immediately. I had never missed a payment before, and have never missed a payment since. It's 10 years later, and my credit is just now hitting 800 again. In that time, I missed several opportunities that would have been available to me if my credit was good. I see you having a very simple approach here, and things might not work out like you expect. Your credit history is incredibly important, especially if you're looking to move in higher professional circles. My advice to you is, don't play around with it. I fully appreciate the sentiment your expressing. $15k isn't worth the kind of anger your feeling in the long term. Pay it, suck it up, and move on. You need to address this situation rationally and objectively. You must step back from your immediate anger to do this. 10 years from now, you'll be glad you didn't mess with your credit rating. Liberals don't seem to make the connection that the more a government "takes care of you" the more it can dictate what you can and cannot do. Or, maybe they do make that connection and think it's ok. I fully expect Obamacrats to start dictating more and more if Obamacare isn't repealed, i.e., "You can't skydive, you could get hurt doing that and then society would have to pay for it". These wise government officials/ex-community organizers think they know best how to live our lives. "You can't develop all those energy resources you have because fossil fuels are bad for you", never mind all the jobs (and federal REVENUE) it would generate. The debate in this country is pretty simple, IMO. To what extent is the federal government allowed to dictate our lives? That's pretty well defined in the Constitution. Liberals don't see that as being very important, while others do. Let's hope folks wake up before it's too late and keep the republic that Ben Franklin, and other founding fathers, gave us. Individual pursuit requires alot of personal responsibility. It's hard work, and it doesn't always work out. Those that make it work invariably get knocked on their ass, and then pick themselves up to do it again. Taking money from those that are making the American Dream work, to give to those that haven't even bothered with individual pursuit isn't fair to anyone. I know this is a bit of a rant, but it's early in the morning here, and I found myself in the mood... We are all engines of karma

Agreed. You take in more by increasing REVENUES, which doesn't necessarily mean increasing taxes. The bigger question is where do resources get allocated best? Via government central planning or free markets? Free markets are better, IMO. The pendulum is swinging too far towards a government planned economy. America's strength is it's people, their willingness to work hard (most of them at least), and their willingness to take risk. There is no way a group of community organizers from Chicago are going to allocate resources better than our markets. We are all engines of karma
