  1. Link doesn't work... We are all engines of karma
  2. Another link taken from a reader's comments: Lots of interesting stuff here... Global Warming: A closer look at the numbers I'm already convinced that Al Gore is a huckster. I'm now reasonably convinced that Lisa Jackson's decision at the EPA to shut down 8% of our electrical grid in the immediate near term was dangerously irrational. More to come... We are all engines of karma
  3. An interesting article on the web today regarding Prof Judith Curry's comments on Prof Richard Muller's BEST press release. http://www.express.co.uk/features/view/280948/Is-global-warming-over Quoting Prof Judity Curry: The thing that makes this article so interesting are the reader comments. No religious spouting... quite the rarity these days. The readers' comments seem reasonably informed, and they are not AGW alarmists. Here's one example: Looks like there's still alot of work to be done sorting out all the forces that are active in Earth's dynamic system. Still waiting on the Warming Papers from the library... 8. Another interesting article on RealClearScience today regarading the technique with which scientists understand ocean flows over time: Evidence of water mass moving south 70 million years ago shows how warmth was distributed Thought this was interesting. Warming Papers have yet to arrive at my library. Should be here in the next week or so. We are all engines of karma
  9. Why? Do they charge more for ones that can cook and clean house? We are all engines of karma
  10. Wonder if that Saudi prince ever leaves the country? I'd imagine the Israelis can introduce one or more unfortunate accidents into his life, at the place and time of their choosing. We are all engines of karma
  11. Just my two cents... I was raised in a fundamentalist Christian church. When I was 16, my goal was to be a preacher. College introduced me to thermodynamics, and then I discovered beer in grad school. After much effort, I managed to reconcile my understanding of thermodynamics with what I still view as personal experiences with God. I do not see God as a noun, as some being that looks out over me. It makes much more sense to me to see God as a verb; that which is, of which you are a part, whether you want to be or not. Make the most of it, and keep it as positive as you can. Your actions count, both in this life, and any others that may come. Be happy, try not to worry to much. Be a good person. Be a responsible person. Whether God is a noun, or God is a verb, or neither, it still matters in the here and now. We are all engines of karma
  12. Thank you for serving, and giving all. Prayers to your family. We are all engines of karma
  13. Agreed, that is the starting point, ultimately. We are all engines of karma
  14. Most people accept there is alot more going on around us than what our immediate senses can perceive. Some people choose to view the unmeasurable aspects of this as a "force" that can help bring peace into one's life, and those around us. Accessing this "force" requires behavior changes on our part, most importantly it requires developing your own ability to calm your mind. Calming your mind will allow you to see things in a clearer light, and better deal with the situations that arise in your life. There are many ways to do this. We are all engines of karma
  15. There is the caveat. This will be defined differently for Brits than say folks who live in Texas. Personally, I'd prefer the Texas definition. We are all engines of karma
  16. From weather.com, Saturday's forecast is: We are all engines of karma
  17. This would be a long term effort, and alot of people would have to participate. We are all engines of karma
  18. Interesting article today: Global Warming -- RIP This debate has become so polarized. With the "left wing lunatics" advocating solutions and restrictions that just won't fly, let's hope the rational people stay involved. The more I read, the more I'm convinced that humans are indeed having an impact. I've known all along that we can't keep wantonly polluting the Earth. I'm beginning to appreciate the magnitude with which we're doing that. Having said that, I still don't expect to see polar bears drowning in my lifetime. We are all engines of karma
  19. I'm sure the 9th circuit will feel free to apply rights of citizens to them. We are all engines of karma
  20. Yes, that does interest me. Any words to go with the picture? We are all engines of karma
  21. Yes, there's been some good stuff in this thread, including your last posts. I'm really looking forward to get those papers from the library. We are all engines of karma
  22. Absolutely horrible example of private reward and public risk. Barney Frank rolled the dice, and they came up craps on this one. And the guy is still in charge. Unbelievable. We are all engines of karma
  23. I wasn't born anywhere close to 3rd base. First person in my family to go to college, and struggled to pay for college tuition. I've done nothing but work my ass off from the get-go. Am I as successful as others with whom I've crossed paths? No, I'm not. And I have only myself to blame for that. There are things that I've learned, very important things, that my kids will definitely know about. That's part of raising a family. Those families that have earned that knowledge, more power to them. We are all engines of karma
