  1. Call Billy Richards at the Ranch. He can probably help. Just be careful We are all engines of karma
  2. DIRT CHEAP Anyone know a student? We are all engines of karma
  3. Based upon some reading I've done, whose basic philosophy is embedded in: www.iceagenow.com, this is one possible scenario that kind of makes sense to me: 1) The Earth has an enormous core of molten metal. 2) Our solar system revolves around a big black hole that's in the center of our universe. 3) The eccentrity of the path of our solar system around the black hole changes. Sometimes, it's circular. Sometimes, it's very elliptical. 4) When it's elliptical, and the solar system starts to turn around the black hole, our earth gets a shock. So much so, that it's crust (insulation) starts to crack and let the hot molten metal to the surface. 5) There are alot of underwater volcanoes. 6) When the hot molten metal hits the sea, it causes alot of evaporation, and heats the water all around the earth. 7) Hot water tends to amplify hurricanes. 8) More H2O in the atmosphere tends to decrease energy absorbed from the sun (...leading to an ice age). I'm not saying this is a fully informed opinion, much less saying that it's right. It does kind of make sense to me. But, to be honest, I'm a failed applied mathematician We are all engines of karma
  4. This was well put, and well written. Thanks for the knowledge. Is it possible Kim Jong Il will use his missles to hit Japan if/when (...more like when) events turn against him? We are all engines of karma
  5. It's 3pm NYTime, Wednesday, 21-Sep-2005. Just watched some "real time" video of the storm as it cleared the keys. Lots of straight west wind all the way through Mexico (based on cloud formation during the video). This isn't to say the winds won't change in the next day or two. We are all engines of karma
  6. First album I ever bought was an 8-track of ZZ Top, Tres Hombres. Lagrange still gives me goose bumps. We are all engines of karma
  7. Do us all a favor, and define honesty. God always makes a rainbow. Accept that. Don't tell them anymore than they need to know. Otherwise, you're not going with the flow (of people) that God has put you in. If you don't go with the flow, you'll never get ahead. If you don't like the flow, vote with your feet. Otherwise, you'll become a rock in a big river. Unless you're really tough, getting beat all the time starts to hurt after a while. Become a reservoir of knowledge/energy by listening. You have a right to feed yourself and pay for your skydives, independent of whether you like the people you're working with or not. And when you do it, please let me know I'm taking notes from various people, looking for reproducible observations. We are all engines of karma
  8. Yes, you should have a gun(s). Weapon retention can become an issue (...i.e., he/she takes it off of you). Once you show the weapon, use the weapon. 10-20 feet away, 2 shots in the body, then 1 in the head. Just do it. Then, find someone with hungry pigs, or a big septic tank. We are all engines of karma
  9. Sorry, not buying that. So, dont' buy it. We are all engines of karma
  10. No, I don't. Long ago I decided that was a waste of time, and still feel that way. If I have be arrogant to an "authority figure" along the way, I will. And I'm most certainly going to have fun taking that path, if I have to. We are all engines of karma
  11. Been through this many times while I did my own contracting on Wall Street. It's a mean business. They _do_not_ have you're interests in mind. Only thiers. You really need to follow up _directly_ with the people you spoke with. Fuck the recuiter. Otherwise, your good-person-attitude may end up fucking you and your family. It's business, not personal. Treat it as such. We are all engines of karma

  13. If I can jump without an AAD, I'd have no problem with that. Proving I have 1600 jumps would be difficult, if not impossible, because I stopped logging shortly after my D license. My current jump number is simply an EWAG, based upon the number of jumps I make at my dropzone, and applying a factor of about .9 in my head (...I always round down, don't want to look like someone who just logs jumps). I can prove my abilities. Just step in the air with me. When's the last time you turned in place? We are all engines of karma

  18. That's what the recruiter told you. Recruiters are notorious for lying. If the company decides it doesn't want to do business with the recruiter, and you came in through him, you are _hosed_. Call the people you interviewed with and confirm what he told you. Why would they change their mind about a recruiter? Because he wants too much vig... We are all engines of karma
  19. Well put! I'm in shock that there are US DZs that _require_ AADs. What'll be next? Baseball cups and shin guards? Both myself and another team member are going to let our AADs expire. Guess we will not be going to a nationals at San Diego. We are all engines of karma
  20. Also, most people don't realize that the force exerted by the wind varies by the square of the wind speed. There is a huge difference between a Cat 1 and Cat 3 and Cat 5. _HUGE_ I'd probably stay for a Cat 1, maybe even a Cat 2 (assuming I was out of storm surge). No way for any others. Time to get out of Dodge. Lock the doors, and leave. I will never forget one of my former bosses in NYC thinking about going to Disneyland as Andrew was approaching FL. He wanted to book flights into Orlando as soon as it cleared. His thinking - hey, the lines would be short at Disneyland, plus, once the hurricane is off the beach, there's nothing to it. He simply had no idea about hurricanes, none what so ever. I had to explain to him that hurricanes are about 3 states in size, and leave no power, etc. in their wake. A year or so later, his parents moved from Long Island to North Carolina, about 100 miles from the coast. Within the year, they were hit by a hurricane. Killed almost all livestock in their area, and it was a Cat 1 by the time it hit them. Like I said, they simply had no idea what a hurricane was. We are all engines of karma
  21. Agreed. And if anyone knows that, Billvon does. So, Billvon, what are the facts? I doubt they were shooting at a guy because he fathered too many Shiites. We are all engines of karma
  22. After getting my D license, what was the point? I'm _absolutely_ not interest in awards, etc. Hell, I didn't even tell anyone when I did my 1000th. If you don't believe I jumped it, fine. I'm comfortable doing 4 way with anyone that wants to do it with me. If it works for the group at that point in time, who cares? We are all engines of karma
