  1. Whew - and I thought my bar was getting expensive at $3 for 12 oz. of Becks from the tap. We are all engines of karma
  2. I don't think I could handle the shock We are all engines of karma
  3. Exactly, due to the increase in H2O in the atmosphere. I understand the greenhouse effect (...no, really, Billvon, I do), and I'm not disputing it. There are other forces at work here, and doesn't seem like anyone really knows. We are all engines of karma
  4. I hear schools aren't that good in Palestine. Maybe they were holding the map sideways, and thus the confusion? We are all engines of karma
  5. Could a C-5 handle the aerodynamic stress? We are all engines of karma
  6. This woman is one of the most self centered people around. Apparently, she grew up in a wealthy family and and never had to think about any one else. Self entitled... We are all engines of karma
  7. Palestine's foreign minister was quoted in the NYPost today as saying the only way to resolve the issue was to return to 1967 borders. That conflict is _never_ going to end. We are all engines of karma
  8. I AM SO CONFUSED We are all engines of karma
  9. What do you think of this website: www.iceagenow.com? Somewhere on the website, I read an article about under water volcanic activity (...it was pointed out to me by a friend). Made sense at the time. What else could warm ocean waters? I still don't buy into gases (e.g. CO2) heating up water (...I know Billvon, you made an excellent point with this argument regarading how else can the earth cool itself, but I'm just not there yet). 10. The fact that beer exists is proof enough there is a God. I mean seriously, it can't be more self evident. What further proof do you need? Even more, the fact that beer flows further demonstrates that God is a verb. We are all engines of karma
  11. Hey! Hadn't thought of that one. We are all engines of karma
  12. Well, I finally pulled the trigger on my neighbor and called Animal Control on her about her dog. She left it outside without water again for about 3 hours, again. She sent a scathing email to my wife saying she'd sue me for harassment. Any suggestions on how to deal with a deteriorating situation like this? The animal control officer was pretty sympathetic and told me to _not_ deal with her. We are all engines of karma

  15. In this context, how do you present "evidence"? I grew up in a fundamentalist christian family in the deep south. Bible reading was required. Even then, I found, and still find, the Bible to be an ambiguous and poorly wrriten document. Then, I look back at what my technical writer teachers taught me - WHO IS THE AUDIENCE for the document? IMO, the Bible's audience was a bunch of goat herders. And not just the Bible... We are all engines of karma
  16. The CNN journalists express their _bosses_ viewes. It's pretty left wing. Fox the right wing. We are all engines of karma
  17. I ended up standing at the back of one goal (...whose, I don't know). Watching a guy on the far side of the field running at full speed, then kicking it to a guy on the complete opposite side of the field who is running at full speed, and it looked just like a completed pass in the NFL with their _FEET_. Blew me away. 120,000 people screaming at the top of their lungs, and throwing beer every where. I grew up in Baton Rouge, LA. Went to every LSU home game from the time I was 10 'till 21. People scene was very comparable. Physics scene was _completely_ different. We are all engines of karma
  18. 1st real soccer match I ever saw was Barcelona vs. Madrid, in Barcelona, after a world meet at Empuriabrava(sp?). Absolutely unbelievable. We are all engines of karma
  19. Who's him? God or the Son? We are all engines of karma
  20. Science - observation and correlation. Observations must be reproducible. What are you measuring? How are you doing it? Can other people do the same thing? Correlations - now that's math, basically. Using reproducible observations. Our species' science is pretty good. For a long time, observations drove the correlations. That's how we got the first law of thermo. Then, Einstein came along, and his corrleations are still driving observations to this day. Our system of science allows for stable change. Faith based religions aren't as good, in my personal experience. We are all engines of karma
  21. Exactly. IMO, here's why... wait, ...i've got to get a beer The 1st law of thermo is probably the best "incarnation" of the well accepted phrase of Newton's - "action/reaction". Basically, _nothing_ changes by itself. Instead of using "force" as a primary word from Newton's vocabulary, the 1st law of thermo uses the word "energy". Now, in applied terms, exactly what is "energy". That, is a never ending quest for any and all believers of science. How to apply this conclusion from an observational point of view on a daily basis? Any time there is "change", there has been a flow of "energy" from one "reservoir" to another "reservoir". An example: A Mack truck is rolling down the highway at XX mph. It hits a brick wall. Describe this. The kinetic energy of the truck flowed into the molecular energy of the brick wall. The truck was dented, and the wall was cracked. Our species' science has identified many reservoirs of energy. But, they haven't identified all of them. The biggest of which, IMO, is free will Any time you employ your free will, change happens. For the sake of discussion, let's lump all those unidentified reservoirs of energy involved with free will into something we'll call the fabric of the universe. The fabric of the universe is, really, all about people. Keep it positive, be happy, don't worry, but still be a good person (...your actions count). When you still your mind (...a very difficult thing to do, since, how do you know when you're doing it?), there is no flow between yourself and the fabric of the universe. You are basically ONE with that which IS. So, to conclude, when you don't know, it sounds like a good way to still your mind. We are all engines of karma

  24. Go to your local natural food store and buy a small bottle of Golden Seal Root (...or two). Drink them in one shot, wait a couple of hours, then start drinking water. This stuff cleans everything out, even weed. It works overnight. We are all engines of karma
  25. An even more important consideration, IMO, is - will we remember how to make beer? We are all engines of karma
