A spiritual puzzle & professional dilemma
Misternatural replied to Misternatural's topic in Speakers Corner
>>Medical ethics... Thank you, That makes perfect sense, and I can imagine that it's a bit of a struggle to not discuss cases. >>Everyone knows about the ER doctor talking about the patient that came in with the light bulb up his/her ass. Thankfully the only light bulbs I see are hooked up to electrical circuits. Beware of the collateralizing and monetization of your desires. D S #3.1415 -
A spiritual puzzle & professional dilemma
Misternatural replied to Misternatural's topic in Speakers Corner
It is a weird topic, but I'm sure people have similar experiences. For example,in my line of work I am obligated to go everywhere into peoples houses, wherever I- or my camera can fit and see things and go places outsiders never see and rarely go. So it is kind of a burden in a way to focus on the job, have ultimate respect for the dwellers and their belongings and ignore everything you see but the mechanicals and structure, unless of course the situation poses an immediate health or safety hazard, which lately has not been the case. If you've ever sold a house, you know what I mean, the whole process is very invasive. I can only imagine how uncomfortable it is to have a total stranger peering into every square inch of your sanctuary with a camera and flashlight. >>my Morals. Ethics, and you're right- so I am going to wait until the dust settles, and revisit this topic anecdotally later. I think I can hold off my curiosity about your thoughts on the subject until then. Thanks for now. Beware of the collateralizing and monetization of your desires. D S #3.1415 -
A spiritual puzzle & professional dilemma

Yes, I suppose it's not that big of a deal, to put it plainly. Just trying to get information on how other professionals here deal with the exchange of work related information. Lately I have been trying to be more careful about words I post on internet forums thats all. Beware of the collateralizing and monetization of your desires. D S #3.1415 -
>>I don't have to get up tomorrow. And I don't have to check my emails. Or my phone messages. It just keeps getting better and better. hehe, true, you should try being self employed for a while- you get to make up your own rules, write your own checks & you don't have to do a damn thing if you don't feel like it, then again you don't get to eat either. Billy, you seem to be plagued by ants and hornets these days. i deal with this stuff all the time as part of my job- last week I had to cut out part of a homeowners facia and overhang to extract an entire honey bee colony,no not a colony- it was a fucking metropolis up inside this guys roof, they now live in a beehive on my property. What a miserable job that was. Anyway an exterminator is your best but most expensive bet. Next best and least toxic is the boric acid powder somebody mentioned, I get the jumbo one pounder for 5 bucks. I mix it with honey or honey and peanut butter for your fat loving ants as bait- but you don't have to, just read the directions- the pros sometimes saturate areas with a solution of this where carpenter ants have taken up residence, works great. The traps are ok but they are mostly just peanut butter with toxins mixed in and dry out quickly. For the hornets, well I have no love for those fuckers except they eat other bugs. There are a number of very effective poisons in a can that sends them into what looks like a horrible but quick death, its like VX nerve gas for bugs. -on the other hand gasoline IS more skydiverly and fun Beware of the collateralizing and monetization of your desires. A spiritual puzzle & professional dilemma
Misternatural replied to Misternatural's topic in Speakers Corner
I'll start with the professional dilemma since that will determine the rules for discussion of this topic. Those of you who are in a profession, which means anyone who earns a living, usually have a protocol for discussing cases in generic terms for the purpose of sharing knowledge without crossing the lines of confidentiality. I have a story to share here which I think would be of value for discussion but have no protocol for determining the boundaries of identification. in other words- its not in the home inspectors handbook. In your experience-What is the professional protocol you use for discussing cases? Beware of the collateralizing and monetization of your desires. D S #3.1415 -

Hehe now this is my game Building materials and commodities in general are still going higher, due to higher fuel prices and inflation. Existing homes are beginning to go down in price as sellers and the banks are finally realizing that this is a recession and the prices need to be adjusted. So in my view used is cheeper than new as long as you get a good home inspection, and energy audit- whittle the price down more with that info, live in the house and fix it up all nice and crisp for a few years whist the market starts going up again and you my friend will hit the cycle right when it is time to sell- and you'll be doing the cha ching moola moola $$ dance. Keep doing that over and over then "Repeat after me-I am Elmer J Fudd millionaire, I own a mansion and a yacht- Again!" Beware of the collateralizing and monetization of your desires. D S #3.1415

Ok I'll play too Just because I like your threads.- this one is very existential I like to gauge myself by accomplishments, marks I've left on the world by things i have built-there's a satisfaction in that. Also situations I have dealt with successfully. These are what give a lot of people a sense of self, and that is important in this world where it's easy to get lost in figuring out how to define yourself and how you fit into the universe. but like you I just use my name and let the other people figure the rest out. ".... and preaching from my chair- Well who are you?" Beware of the collateralizing and monetization of your desires. D S #3.1415

Have you ever been audited? picture the interrogation scene in The Matrix. True story- Here's how it goes- It's a nice sunny day, you drive for hours to a capitol city somewhere USA. You arrive, walk into a highly secure government building. There are cameras and hallways of locked doors everywhere- the arrows lead you to a place where there is a person behind thick glass with a wall mounted speaker nearby. You state your name________. wait, then a buzzer lock opens and you are directed in and are greeted by your plainly dressed assigned tax examiner. You walk into a small room with large glass windows -not to the outside but facing another room full of file cabinets and clerical workers, they watch you walk in as the door with a code lock clanks shut behind you. You sit down across from and facing the examiner at this white table with a stack of paper files & computer screen. There is a camera behind you, and a camera facing you. The examiner starts asking pointed questions about your life and finances while gazing intermittently through you then at the screen. You fumble through your paperwork looking for figures to back up the discrepancies you are asked about. You really don't want to tell them absolutely everything about your life's work but you don't dare hold back while those cameras little red light is staring you down. There are long uncomfortable pauses and it's not that hot in there but you are sweating and your mouth gets dry. Then- It seems like your story checks out and the examiner passes a card across the table and says that he will "keep an eye on you and to call if there is anything you forgot to mention". You are led out and it's still nice and sunny outside but now for some reason you feel a little sick. Beware of the collateralizing and monetization of your desires. D S #3.1415

>>You clearly don't realize that you've just validated her point. Just a little friendly mental jujitsu, I have no beef with the time invested in college as long as the individual applies themselves and puts the information learned to use. Karen did well with her education. It's the cost that enrages me, especially right now that I am battling my town over education property taxes- but thats another fish to fry. Lets examine what the tuition dollars actually pay for, I say its mostly for the facility and staff. I posit that the internet could save people many thousands of dollars in educational expense through home study. In college if you spend all your time drinking and watching porn you've wasted your parents money. If you do that using the internet.... not so much. Are the Olympics more "in your face" this year?
Misternatural replied to Shotgun's topic in The Bonfire
>>What new sports did they add? Sailing? BMX bikes? dunno, maybe thats not so new. i don't watch the Olympics that much, I like cartoons, and the Discovery channel, thats it. Oh, and that show where the dude travels around the world just to eat all kinds of fried bugs. now there's a sport...What can I say, work is really slow these days. Misternatural replied to Shotgun's topic in The Bonfire
The olympics are a little more fun as they added some new sports. but to be really in your face they should include skydiving, ultimate fighting, and guitar shredding contests. Beware of the collateralizing and monetization of your desires. D S #3.1415 -
Mr, Murrays essay has merit in that the current system of higher education is destructively expensive for most families. Even the student loan program is financially devastating for most students. I know people who are in their 40's who are still paying off their student loans. I agree, the benefit of this extremely expensive form of education is questionable considering the number of people who actually use their educational background in the workplace. All that money spent to learn how to conduct bongathons and drinking contests....want to know what your kids are actually learning?-See the movie "College" for details.
