I'm definately on the bitter side of things... it's not that I'm away from family and friends this year, it's that I'm unable to cook for myself. The massive quantity of deliciousness during this time of year is what puts a smile on my face, be it myself or someone else doing the cooking. This year, I can't enjoy my own or someone else's home cooking, and the food I DO have avaliable to me, doesn't look or taste like food. The chow hall has Marines that I wouldn't trust to make a bowl of cereal unattended. That should give you a rough idea. Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. Being here in Japan, we just finished turkey day about 6 hours ago. After the so called food at the chow hall, i went back to my barracks room. Then, I made my way to the fridge and drank myself stupid... Happy Thanksgiving guys! Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. trying to get from camp fuji to the tokyo skydiving club but the directions are all in kanji... does anyone know how to ge there by train? I"m near gotemba city and that's where the train station is. google maps says it's about 4 hours any help would be appreciated (edited to fix the drnken typing...) I went as a skydiver... Entered into the most creative contest and won. I got a DVD player though. I got on stage and pulled my cutaway handle, then gave an oh shit look and put on a skull mask. (Yes, RSL was disconnected and I tied the reserve handle down in case anyone got any crazy ideas.) The mask looked nothing like the one that nekkid guy had from elsinore during the chicks rock boogie. Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. I'm just North-northwest of Gotemba City on the east side of Mt. fuji. I'm up north from Okie. It rained a couple days ago, and about 1/3 of the mountain has snow on it. Once I get my liberty card I plan on going there. I've already got a guy in my shop who wants to go skydiving. It works out great because he's got a car out here so we can take that to the DZ instead of trying to figure out the public transportation routes. Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. Well, I've been here for a week and I still don't have a liberty card, so I'm still stuck on base. (A liberty card is a written statement that allows me to go off base. It's required in all overseas duty stations.) The weather seems to be consistently mostly cloudy out here, and I'm told that's the typical weather out here. Haven't had an opportunity to jump since I left California and it's starting to suck. BUUUUUT... I've met some really cool people, learned some important phrases and words and I went to the pistol range for the first time on Wednesday where I shot expert. I've learned the basics of my additional duties here and on this coming wednesday, we're going out to the range to do some "blow some shit up" training. Some people refrain from beating a dead horse.
