im 6ft3in, skinny as a rake, and my wings fits perfectly, the fully artic harness seems to be placed perfectly for my body shape as well

first of all id like to say of course i would, i dont see why not, ive had to land in the plane 3 times before in only 98 jumps, but this brings me to my second point... doesnt this happen often enough anyway that it doesnt need to be planned? if its happened to me 3 times in around 70 visits to dropzones (twice in a dornier G92, once in a cessna 206) spread over 2 1/2 years, has it been like this for anyone else? obviously i might have just been unlucky (once had to come down as winds increased in the air, once because the clouds rolled in, and once because we went over the time we were allowed to drop due to local air traffic regs) but isnt that practice enough if that is a general trend?

i take it a BPA Packing certificate counts for nothing over there then? by packing chit i mean the one for mains where you get individual canopy and container types and closing procedures (S/L, Spring PC, pull out, throw-away etc) signed off by a rigger

you say there is a greater risk with the direct bag method of a static-line hang-up, but how often does this really happen? and i know mistakes get made and shit happens every once in a while but shouldnt a misrouted static line be very easy to spot? are there any other causes of a hangup other than a misrouted s/l?

when downsizing a canopy and putting it into your existing container is it necessary to change d-bags? a triathlon 170 (think its a 170, closest to anyway) is going into an aerodyne icon (having come from an aerodyne icon) that used to hold a pilot 188 so basically what im asking is when the canopies are switched do they keep the d-bag already attached to them or does the bag stay with the rig? (considering they are the same model) im aware of such issues as changing the length of the closing loop etc

Magnetic slider stops// Hand tack slider to canopy
Yossarian replied to N24's topic in Gear and Rigging
cotton thread would make packing even more annoying... dont know about magnets -
makes me wish id waited a few months to order mine, and thought of that top colour scheme... how have they made the riser protection better?

When you didn't cutaway and should have...
Yossarian replied to Glitch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
that happened to me a few times, only once did it affect the control of the canopy, slight turn to the right on full drive, i remembered to keep it corrected all the way to landing then did an even flare... d'oh! big old manta 288 with me all of 10stone underneath it though so it wasnt that bad a landing -
it seemed to vary from DZ to DZ but mine was; 2xgood S/L 3xgood (consecutive) dummy pulls 1x3sec delay 1x5sec 2x10sec 2x15sec 1x20sec with alti 1x20sec with turns 1xunstable exit 1xdive exit with backloops 1xdive exit with backloop and tracking 1xhalf series (360 right, 360 left, 1xbackloop, 5sec track, 5sec track with a track turn) that was the minimum anyway, took me 27 jumps as i did 3 s/ls, 7 dps, 5 10secs and had to repeat some if i went to different dropzones, mostly down to inter-dz politics. after landing from the last jump, i had my A certificate. next jump was a mandatory solo to convert to throw-away but that was it. this was before the whole CH1 thing though, but thats just the UK edit to add - cost was £175 for FJC, £35 per jump after that, so cost of jumps was £1085 give or take

Using a flexible cable to close the container instead of a pin
Yossarian replied to autoset's topic in Gear and Rigging
theres an attachment to the first post, its on a ripcord set up but the material is the same -
i had this exact same conversation at the DZ the other day, you weren't at langar by any chance were you...? the best argument i heard was that horses were more dangerous as they had brains, and you could piss them off
-
wings, only put 3 jumps on it so far but its so comfy its like having a pillow strapped to my back, i like the pin-protection, the look, and how riggers say 'good choice!' when they see it :P not so sure about the reserve handle though, i like them a bit bigger, cant get much more than my thumb in the current one

Flight Line check requirements (Was:) Fatality - Bridlington U.K.
Yossarian replied to cpoxon's topic in Safety and Training
i think it extends only so far as making sure that they have been signed for, Ive never been anywhere or heard of anywhere where the JM is expected to check anyone at all, just the manifest sheet to make sure it has a signature next to every name. -
"Bloody Foreigners" jumping in the UK
Yossarian replied to kallend's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
dont americans have to do a bit of FS stuff before they get an A certificate anyway? people only tend to ask if you have FS1 if your two or more relatively inexperienced jumping together anyway. -

depends on the DZ i suppose, its a computer printout at langar anyway, either way its written down before anyone can sign it -

Flight Line check requirements (Was:) Fatality - Bridlington U.K.
Yossarian replied to cpoxon's topic in Safety and Training
the idea is the JM is the last person to sign the manifest, confirming that every jumper has been signed for, not that the JM check every jumper, of whatever license, himself. it cant be that much of a last minute thing as the name of the JM has to be printed on the manifest sheet before its even put down for people to sign -

I ask those with an A-license pull the rig off their shoulders so i can see the aad is on, if i dont see it, i dont sign them off on yhe manifest chit. ive had people moan about it but not complain as such, rules are rules after all, and its my signature on the sheet even if im not the jumpmaster. -
thanks, had all that covered except the closing loops but im sure that would have made itself apparent when i closed the container cheers for your help

my uni club has two rigs at present, a pilot 188 in an icon sport and a triathlon 170 also in an icon sport. i know that both containers will fit both canopies as per the sizing chart, what do i have to think about when changing them over? (harnesses are different sizes, somebody wants to jump the 170 but cant fit into the h/c its in at the moment). as both containers are icons, same age, both with mini-risers, im pretty sure i dont have to swap d-bags/risers etc and as far as i can tell the process would be to unpack both, cut them away, re-attach them to their 'new' containers and repack them after a careful check of both the lines (making sure theyre all in the right place etc) and the 3 rings. is there anything im missing or need to think about? it seems simple enough, just making sure... thanks for your help

well the two closest to you (depending on where in sussex) weston and nethers are closed to civvis during the week, hinton tends to be a little quiet but its open and they'll put the PAC up with 5 or 6 in it. Langar can be busy in nottingham but thats a 3 1/2 hr drive. best bet really is to phone the dz's themselves and ask i guess. go on ukskydiver.co.uk and ask around there, probably get alot more responses from UK jumpers

my cci always tells be off for calling it a license, its a certificate...

i just use a bungee, works fine, and i its not going to come off. ive got a solo, relatively cheap option and does exactly what i want it to, ive got a log book to log jumps in so i dont need a computer to do it for me, and if i want freefall time/speed i just press the button on my vigil

when i need some i just ask a rigger at a dz, they can usually knock up a few for you, for free if you ask nicely enough
