ITP (Thrombocytopenia) - A blood disorder my sister has had for 10 years. When my sister was just finishing school (about 16) she developed this blood disorder and spent A LOT of time in hospital getting platelet transfusions. Her body wasnt able to stop it self bleeding and the slightest pressure would cause bruising and bleeding under the skin, her life was a misery. After about 2 years of treatment it calmed down and her platelet count returned to normal. She recently gave birth to her first child and has known something is wrong with her again so ordered a bloody test. The platelet count 2 weeks ago was 106,000 which the doctor signed as "satisfactory." If i remember correctly the normal range is from around 150,000 to 400,000 and it was still passed as satisfactory! She has just rang me worried to death because she ordered another one and they've dropped to 26,000, with her history i feel they've let her down. She's getting her bone marrow taken and tested now and wanted to know if it would hurt (like i know?) I feel so damn sorry for my sister and this could of all been prevented if they caught it in time 2 weeks ago. Please give a prayer/vibes her way. 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit.
