  1. if his religious views stopped him from properly doing his job, then in this case he is an asshole.... But you are right, that is only my opinion
  2. sorry to hear that...going through a seperation with two kids as well right now....PM me if you want.
  3. it won't get real interesting until the political support based cities start popping up.
  4. Which life? That of the mother or that of the child? Which one is more important? When does one life become more important than the other? Who makes that decisions? Who should make that decision?
  5. hat is a different point in time from PJ's post, which is what I replied to. Apples and oranges.
  6. That still doesn't really negate the traumatic side to the child (now young adult) and subsequent need for councelling etc. It really doesn't change the argument. Actually I could imagine a scenario in which cause the adoption could make the trauma worse.
  7. How about the baby killing the mother? Should that be prohibited as well? I am wondering what the quality of life is of an adult knowing they are in the world because their grandfather raped their mother at the age of 12. Are the people in the anti-choice crowd willing to pay for all the councelling. Are at least willing to pay extra taxes to provide free councelling for those who need it?
  8. If that is medically viable and the parents (mostly mom) so chose, then I don't have a problem with that.
  9. hasn't gun legislation increased in that same period? With your reasoning (though usually from the opposite end) doesn't that mean that gun legislation has been effective?
  10. as a rule of thumb, in my opnion, in the third trimester, at which point abortions should only performed to save the life of the mother or if the baby is so seriously misformed or ill that it will only life a short and painfull life...
  11. When it can viably sustain itself outside of the whomb.
  12. I thought this quote from another thread fit in here:
  13. You mean like God telling Bush that invading Iraq is the right thing to do?
  14. I did, I have family that live sin South East Asia, Phuket to be exact. I was with them (albeit in Canada) when the tsunami hit. The faulty reporting of a major US network almost completely ruined his business....he is very thankful Who do you know in that region?
  15. I was thinking the same thing. There is a lot of professed openness from RL, yet she has raised this as a supposed stumbling block on several occasions.
  16. Which proves my original point.... true, though I was talking about the US and Canada in this particular case. Though, even atheist in a civil marriage would still call themselves married. They wouldn't call it any different.
  17. two queen beds in a room should do it....saves you more money for the champagne
  18. Frist, polygamy doesn't mean one man, multiple women. It can take on many forms. (and there are all different distinctions and terms I have more or less lumped together for ease of argument) Second, I agree that the concept of religeous wills being dictated to society is less of an issue here as opposed to Iran. However, that doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. Which was my original point, as a blanket statement it is to easy to say, since it hapens in almost all countries to a certain degree.
  19. No I am saying how, in my opinion, many cops and some judges reason. If you really want to test this. Next time you get pulled over....before the officer says anything..ask him if you are under arrest. When he says no, drive off...see what happens.
  20. I am not yelling it. I am suggesting as one of the plausible reasons he feels so strongly about something he supposedly didn't know about, to ensure it happens at all costs (ie veto), is that either his family or those close to it stand to gain financially from it significantly. I suggested that you follow the money in the end. People still yell that OJ Simpson killed his wife. Though he has been acquitted in a US court of law. people still yell Michael Jackson is a child molestor, yet he has been aquitted too. Why do you think they are yelling that?
  21. In Canada she was. Gay marriage, polygamy.
