Damn straight, Jamaica is one of the safest societies around....
-
I know, that's why I think Douva's argument is fundamentally flawed. It sounds nice, but a multitude of restrictions are already in place. His argument is like the TSA, it makes you feel better, but doesn't really accomplish anything.
-
Good argument, in many ways I agree. Just a couple of questions: Should a citizen be allowed to own chemical weapons to protect themselves from an invading force, or a rogue government? How about nuclear weapons? How about RPGs or mines? What about jet planes with laser guided missiles? How about short range missiles to protect your neighbourhood from a rogue government? Don't you think your average citizen should be able to own all those? If not, why not?

Condescending Rice says that Iraq is a "Good Investment"
SkyDekker replied to shropshire's topic in Speakers Corner
Well, that should be a nice reassurance for those families who have lost loved ones, right before Christmas. They can look at the empty seat at the Christmas dinner table and console themselves that Ms Rice has stated that it was all a good investment. Iraq is going to emerge as a country that is a stabalizing factor? I thought people said this lady was smart? -
So who got a Christmas bonus or gift from their boss?
SkyDekker replied to SkydiveStMarys's topic in The Bonfire
Hmm, lets look around my office: 2 bottles of Crown Royal 2 Bottle of Canadian Club Hugo Boss tie 3 different baskets with food 13 bottles of wine 1 bottle of port 1 bottle of cognac 2 bottles Johnny Walker Gold and 30% of base pay, but not until Feb. Didn't do too bad this year. -
White House forbids former aide's critical op-ed
SkyDekker replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
I think it is pretty clear to everybody else, you just seem to be unwilling to see. -
I have no clue how this relates back to Political Correctness. Can you explain?

Please, prayers/vibes for my 8 month old nephew Ethan.
SkyDekker replied to Muenkel's topic in The Bonfire
Absolutely, agree 100%. For all reading, let this be a reminder that dogs are animals and cannot be trusted 100% in every situation. They will sometimes fall back on their basic instincts, even when they have always been on their best behaviour prior to that. When you have small children and a dog in the house, you are taking some risk and you should be aware of that. (A risk I have taken and many other people, but a risk nonetheless) Chris, happy to hear your nephew is doing well, I hope he has a speedy and relatively pain free full recovery!!!! -
but think of the animals it will save: http://www.torontosun.com/News/TorontoAndGTA/2006/12/19/2876650-sun.html

Then what is it? Winning? Neutral? Just a minor roadblock on the way to Victory?
-
To no one in particular, but I see a lot of different examples being brought forward as supposed PC. Can some one define Political Correctness for me, so we can all talk about the same thing?
-
define winning. If the US drops a couple of nuclear bombs in Iraq, followed by complete ethnic cleansing of all people in Iraq, then by all accounts they might claim they have "won" that war. However, I am pretty sure that win won't be so good for the US in the longer term.

White House forbids former aide's critical op-ed
SkyDekker replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
Or maybe he has not yet submitted the article to be published because he has not yet received the appropriate clearence? Nah, it couldn't be that he is trying to actually play by the rules. He is clearly an asshole and the character assissination needs to start based on assumption and the fact that he doesn't agree with me. -
Well said and very true!!

White House forbids former aide's critical op-ed
SkyDekker replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
But was the author of those articles a former aide? That is the difference in this case, not the content, but the author. -
That depends on how this went down. If me and my buddy, as civilians, decide to box in a car in a bad area of town, then run out of the car and start screaming at the car we just boxed in, I would think that the people in that car would start trying to get away, even if I am in the way of their car. If I then have to dodge their car, am I now justified in shooting and killing them, because they tried to use their car as a weapon? There just is enough uncertainty and unknown about what happened that night to make a really valid judgement, though I think most can agree that further explanation is certainly required.

But wouldn't know if his/her efforts got them any closer to accomplishing a goal, since they don't know what it is....
-
I know they are fighting to stay alive. On top of that, there are generally missions and goals to achieve. As a soldier I would imagine those would be nice to know. And the goal of a mission doesn't have to be political at all, probably generally isn't.
-
if the comments are true, the following is a very scary statement: It must be very hard to fight a war, if you don't know what you are fighting for. In time, I think this will be recognized as one of the greatest failures in this operation. How can you achieve a goal, when nobody knows what the goal is.
-
Actually in this case....Monica.

That's supposed to be the way it works now....but it doesn't.

Great Pictures. I am going to Koh Samui Sept 2007, while also visiting Bangkok and Phuket (not sure which area we'll stay in, but we'll visit patong Beach for sure). One long ass flight though 17 hours straight from New York to Bangkok. Thank god I am flying business class.
