  1. The ball came flying off, which means the piercing, next to an open wound should now be considered contaminated. Take it out, let it heal, and re-pierce if necessary.
  2. Well, you have to remember that most Americans from the moment tey are born are told they live in the best country in the world, that everything their country does is the best, that they build the best products etc. Just look at winning their Baseball league, the team that wins gets crowned World Champion. As such, you can't really blame them, many just don't know any better.
  3. And the area in which the pirates operate is huge. They have been constantly moving to new areas, as soon as navy ships from various nations arrive. The pirates are operating in an area of ocean over half the size of the contiguous US. Multiple navies are operating in the area trying to protect the shipping routes. It is impossible to cover an area of that size on a continuous basis.
  4. That would probably create an even larger area "ruled" by anarchy.
  5. I have a hard time believing you know this for a fact.
  6. The prirate problem won't go away until you take their base of operations away. As long as Somalia is in pretty much total anarchy, the pirates will have a base to operate from.
  7. It is not ABC's fault that the american public swallows what they are fed on TV as gospel. ABC's job is to make money.
  8. I seem to remember that the reclawing of the bonuses was based on an outcry from society and legislated through congress. Wagoner was asked to resign and he did. It may have been a condition of the federal government offering help. GM could have refused the help and Wagoner could have refused to step down. Banks were allowed to decline TARP money, quite a few did too.
  9. First, 20/20 is not the news. Second, it is not their fault that the public is ignorant. Your anger shouldn't be aimed at them, it should be aimed at an education system that allowes the public to be stupid.
  10. I was under the impression that Amtrak was wholly owned by the Federal Government. Doesn't appear that would be the case for GM. Owning equity in and wholly owning a company are different things. Not even sure if the government would be the controlling share holder in GM.
  11. I thought this wasn't supposed to happen in an area with trained and armed people. Thought this was only supposed to happen in gun-free zones.
  12. First one looks like Pirelli to me, but could also be Bridgestone....
  13. Wish I was on my way to Koh Phangan.... Best party ever........
  14. You need the support from other countries though, at least on a financial and political level. The US cannot sustain itself standing alone.
  15. I see you have no interest in explaining the relevance you perceive there to be. Maybe you can tell me what percentage of the military trains in gunfights in airplanes? And how many remained current after leaving the military 20 years ago to become a pilot?
  16. Wish I had the picture of my handprint on this computer
  17. I truly don't see the relevance. Even if his statement is correct that the majority are ex-military (which I doubt at this point), that doesn't mean they are current or even ever got relevant fire arms training in the military.
  18. lock it before you put it in your pocket. That's what I do with my blackberry, becomes second nature really quickly.
  19. Which really has no bearing on training for a gun fight in an airplane.
  20. That's not what he said in that post. he is dead on with his analysis of the data provided in the article. The article does make conclusions that cannot be supported by the data. In short, the data presented cannot be used to claim that 90% of guns in Mexico come from the US, however the data can also not be used to claim that 90% of guns in Mexcio did not come from the US.
  21. I saw it in Bangkok....some interesting stuff with darts and balloons too.....
  22. Funny you would say that, since a couple of companies have gotten to exactly that same point. When the government allows a company to grow to that size, the government also has an obligation to not allow it to fail. The collapse of AIG would have completely destroyed the financial system of the US and many other systems around the world would have collapsed in return. The problem with pure capitalism is that there are no safeguards in place to not allow a company to grow to that size. And under pure capitalism, combined with the greed of people, the drive is to get as much money in as little a time, with any means possible. There is no regard for long term prosperity and there is no regard for anybody outside of the company, even if they are customers. Interestingly, a pure socialist or communist system doesn't work for the same reason...greed. So, there has to be a combination of the two/three. The government has to protect the citizens, cause the last year has shown that people will make very stupid decisions when left to themselves.
  23. It is not an unlikely scenario that the whole financial system would have collapsed. Not just a bank here or there. Secondly, capitalism created this mess, why would you think that capitalism would also fix it?
  24. He was on a comedy show and made a joke in poor taste. All it shows is that the man is human. Reading anything more into it is just politicizing the issue.
