  1. The school did remove it from the program. The student took it upon herself to do it anyways. How should the school have handled it at that point?
  2. I'm pretty sure the argument relates to published articles related to guns.
  3. It is impossible to establish any fact from the article. He is quoting his own supposed research, but without the research presented you can't really establish fact. There is some precedent of this type of behaviour in big business. At least one tobacco company has been fined for actively supporting the trafficking of their product.
  4. 1 robbery, max take probably $10,000. 1 shot bystander due to employee gun use, $millions in direct costs, more $$ lost due to decline in shoppers. Takes 100 $10,000 robberies to get to $1,000,000. There simply aren't enough robberies to make the math work in favour of allowing employees to carry. Secondly, I don't think your "slippery slope theory" has any merit in this situation.
  5. So you agree that changing his job would have no effect and hence you clearly just didn't understand the article. I am also pretty sure the tears and diapers weren't reflected in the article either. But then, we already established you didn't quite understand it.
  6. He is a not a climate scientist. Changing his job would not change anything for him, since HE is not being affected at this point.
  7. What a load of crap Israel is not the US' strongest ally. You obviously have a strong emotional tie to the subject, but inventing stuff isn't helping your argument.
  8. lol, you might as well typed: I don't understand the article.
  9. It is no more brainwashing than you brainwashing your children to be atheist. In stead of removing my children, I teach my children. In the end they are allowed to make their own decisions. Their belief structure will likely alter or maybe even completely change during their lifetime regardless. In the end he stood up and the law was upheld for him. The court of public opinion is a different matter though.
  10. Yup he got what he wanted. But he also found out that actions have consequences. You can win and lose all at the same time.
  11. Most people justified that behaviour previously when an unarmed man was shot based on knowledge of prior combat experience.
  12. Do you really think that saying a prayer and praying are the same thing? I can guarantee you that if somebody said a prayer out loud beside me, I would not be praying. Even if I was surrounded by 10,000 people saying a prayer, out loud all around me, I would not be praying. Even when somebody says, let us pray for the homeless. Even then I can think and ponder the plight of the homeless without actually praying. Never mind the brainwashing part. I think you need some prior brainwashing, before even considering that a possibility.
  13. Rush, it would seem that your desire to gloat is significantly larger than his desire to bitch.
  14. Mistakes get made, sometimes a gun helps, some times it makes the situation worse. I see this as the latter. hnce, my original comment that it is a cost of the 2nd Amendment.
  15. It is the unfortunate cost of the 2nd amendment. Likely the lack of a weapon would have allowed this man to live.
  16. Israel is not the US' closest ally, but the US is certainly Israel's closest ally. Those are not the same. Israel's allegiance is based on who can offer them the most protection.
  17. I asked because almost every body seems to agree that the heat generated by the bulbs is cheaper to relace by more efficient heat sources. Hence, switching to LED for lighting would indeed cause your furnace to work a little harder to heat the house, but would result in less overall energy usage (and lower enery costs to the consumer). Since you are claiming the opposite, I was just wondering if your objections were actually based on anything factual.
  18. Really? No schooling at all? Never used roads? Didn't live in an area served by police, firefighters paramedics? Didn't live in a country protected by military? Somebody paid while you were "freeloading". Now that you have something, isn't it time to "help" the next "freeloader"? Noblesse Oblige.
  19. Have you done any kind of calculation on this? When I am home, I generally only have a couple of lights on. Maybe one or two. With LED I would still have those lights on, but have a savings in electricity used. My furnace is a lot more efficient at providing heating than incandescent bulbs. Hence, I have this feeling that the savings in electricity would more than offset the extra gas needed for heating. Hence, I think there would be a positive delta (maybe better termed a negative delta, since less is used?) in energy usage (and for my cheque book). Do you have any actual calculations though to show differently?
  20. The questions related to the war on drugs, you are trying to turn that into an MJ based conversation. All I am saying that those are not the same things. I have no issue with legalizing MJ, however not in favour of legalizing heroin or make Oxy OTC. I have no issue with the teacher of my kids smoking a doobie outside of work, but would be significantly upset if he/she turned out to be a crackhead. I'm sure you can see the difference and agree that the war on drugs targets more than just MJ.
  21. You are comparing recreational use to pharmaceutical use. Not quite an apples to apples comparison. (and the war on drugs does include the recreational use of pharmaceutical drugs)
  22. The rate didn't change the total "tax" payable changed. Which is something that never really happens in your system. New payments would be: First four men still pay nothing. The fifth pays $0.80 The sixth pays $2.40 the seventh pays $5.60 the eight pays $9.60 the ninth pays $14.40 The tenth pays $47.20 Same ratios, but a lower overall tax burden for all. Which is exactly how your tax system does NOT work. No wonder your country is going bankrupt.
  23. If only the war on drugs was a bit more effective, it might save us from some of your ramblings...
