  1. But really. No, not guessed.
  2. Sure, when somebody gets shot in the head they are expected to die. Sometimes they survive. It is all just a guess. Does that mean you should have no problem playing Russian roulette?
  3. So what? The impact of climate change is expected to be on the intensity of hurricanes and the speed at which they travel (slowing down). The above doesn't dispute that.
  4. Agreed, my first thought was a TIA.
  5. Those points are only relevant when you are trying to discuss prevention and just shrug your shoulders at cause. The cause for Till's murder is racism, racism that led to unrelenting hatred for a human being of a different colour. The cause for Logan's rape is men not being able to control themselves. If 50 years after Till's murder your comment is well if only the kid hadn't looked at the white girl and listened to his mother....at minimum you have a problem understanding the issue. The key giveaway in all of this is, and I paraphrase: "meh I don't understand rapists and racists murderers, so I can't really say anything about them, but the victim really could have done better."
  6. The only way to know if he is bungling at Twitter is if you know the actual goals for acquiring Twitter.
  7. I have a teenage daughter and I frequently have conversations with her about how she presents herself has an impact on how others might behave towards her. That doesn't mean that if a girl is raped and somebody says: well she shouldn't have worn that skirt, that person isn't a fucking idiot.
  8. If your takeaway from a 14 year young black boy being abducted, tortured and murdered for offending a white girl, is that the black kid shouldn't have dared look at the white girl.....you are a racist under the very shallow depths of my imagination.
  9. Saluting no. But Winsor has shown himself, based on his posts here, to be a very typical old white man.
  10. Blaming the victim is rarely if ever a strong rebuke of the crime or act. Just like claiming to have a black friend is rarely if ever evidence one isn't racist.
  11. I generally agree with the sentiment of your post. However it isn't unusual for a "about to be owner" to have a say over major decisions and transactions. Whether this qualifies as such is of course to be determined. But the implied suggestion that because he technically wasn't the owner yet, he therefor has no say over any decisions doesn't hold water.
  12. I have never seen anybody in a US military uniform put their hands over their hearts or sing the national anthem, unless they are performing. Since Americans seem to think soldiers are the ultimate patriots, why is their silence perfect, but anybody else's silence "not smart?"
  13. I am not surprised. In many ways, I am sure he reminds them of themselves. Talk tough, but cower when it something actually happens. Aldean was on stage, at the microphone when the Las Vegas mass shooting started. When he realized what was happening he ran away. Did he use his microphone to tell people to take cover? Did he try and communicate anything? Did he try and help anybody? No, he didn't. He just ran like a cowered and thought only about himself. So yeah, I am not surprised many people relate.
  14. And let me guess, you think that happened magically and no additional effort was required to help bring Bison back from near extinction?
  15. If energy generated by renewable sources would be generated by fossil fuels, CO2 emissions would be higher. hence renewables lower CO2 emissions. Simple facts.
  16. Renewables are replacing fossil fuels. Majority of the Solar and Wind being installed in China would otherwise be serviced by coal. So renewables are replacing fossil fuels. You make the insane argument that since it isn't 100% it doesn't matter.
  17. Why do you think 100% replacement of all coal would be the goal? In the end it is still better then having it all produced by coal, even China understands that. Weird you don't.
  18. Some more mid-tear review: China on course to hit wind and solar power target five years ahead of time China has more solar panels installed in large-scale projects than the rest of the world combined. On wind energy, the country has doubled its capacity since 2017 Solar and wind are being adopted faster than other new energy technologies of the past 50 years
  19. If that is all you got out of it then sex with minors is clearly not that big an issue for you as you would like others to think. Stop virtue signaling.
  20. Maybe start with pressuring your party to end its support for Child Marriages in various states: Currently 41 states allow child marriages, with 20 states having no minimum age for child marriages with a parental or judicial waiver. Keep in mind that in most of these states marriage is a defense against statutory rape. The 10 states with the highest rates of child marriage: Nevada Idaho Arkansas Kentucky Oklahoma Wyoming Utah Alabama West Virginia Mississippi
  21. What isn't a fad is Christian clergy grooming and abusing kids: https://www.idahostatejournal.com/news/crimes_court/former-youth-pastor-charged-with-sexual-battery-for-allegedly-fondling-girl/article_74ec6224-2454-11ee-adf4-4bd871e56050.html These days important to note he is not a drag queen.
  22. Or maybe if you want a more positive spin on thing, name 3 things Trump has done that Jesus would approve of?
  23. Your constitution has the same problem communism has. The idea is alright, but greed/lust for power will eventually ruin it all.
  24. No judge or clerk for a judge should be accepting money from lawyers. If they cannot see the perception problem with that, they probably aren't smart enough to be a SCoTUS Justice.
  25. See: " Technically, the block isn’t a block. It’s more of a delay that forces extra votes for each nominee. So Schumer could get around Tuberville’s hold by filing cloture and cutting off debate on each nominee, which requires an extra procedural vote and more floor time. This is the case with virtually all of President Joe Biden’s judicial nominees and most senior picks. Tuberville himself has noted that he’s really just forcing the Senate to take roll call votes. So if the Pentagon is facing vacancies at its highest levels in the coming months as members of the Joint Chiefs retire — and their replacements face confirmation — Schumer could file cloture and schedule some one-by-one votes to avoid gaps at DoD. The problem: Despite his argument, the Senate can’t realistically vote on each of the hundreds of general and flag officer promotions expected this year, or it would have time for nothing else. Filing cloture on a military promotion is also a cave that Schumer would likely want to avoid, as it would allow Tuberville to claim validation that he isn’t truly blocking anyone’s confirmation despite the impracticality of holding votes on so many nominees. And it would have the effect of politicizing promotions, Punaro argued, normalizing delaying them for partisan gain. “The minute we just do the first cloture for a military nomination, we have now turned military nominations into federal judges,” Punaro said. “We will never get it back. We will totally politicize the military.”" From: https://www.politico.com/news/2023/05/22/tuberville-pentagon-nominees-blockade-00098130
