  1. No, that would only hurt law abiding citizens. Bad guys could always make fake IDs
  2. He should afce teh death penalty if that is allowed for under Colerado law. However, I don't think there should be a death penalty. Not sure which angle you are asking from, hence the two answers.
  3. Or that massacres like the one in Aurora are simply the price to pay for the right to bear arms.
  4. Unprovable. But it makes for a nice little soundbite.
  5. Me and the wife are going to San Fransisco for 5 days in early August. Looking for suggestions on restaurants, bars, sights to see outside of the obvious tourist destinations and any other suggestions.....
  6. Won't prevent the shooting that happened today. If he doesn't pass the background check, he will just use another weapon or get them illegally. Guns aren't the issue remember.
  7. That's not what you said above, but after this I'll take it that's what you meant.
  8. Uhm, not sure you fully understand the judicial system in your country if you think Police and DAs decide what the facts are in a case.
  9. I agree. Problem is many here have already stated that it would be an invasion of privacy. Plus that you would be unable to know when somebody snaps. I have been asking people what other avnues are open, but nobody is willing to provide an answer. Obviously removing rights is not an option. I get the sense to for many restrictions on the right are not even an option. That doesn't leave much else?
  10. Holy fuck people are bad at reading. Gravitymaster stated he would be running for the exit with a gun in his hands. I questioned if that was the best course of action, considering in the confusion some other armed person might think he is the shooter and shoot him.
  11. Right, at which point I asked if there were any other options then. If we cannot detect insanity (assuming this was even insanity), then are there other avnues we can pursue to try and prevent this type of occurence.
  12. You are awefully hesitant to have a discussion on this subject. Guess questions regarding how to try and prevent a mass shooting with a double digit death toll is not something you are willing to think about.
  13. Yup, I get that. Was just questioning if it was the best choice in general.
  14. In a mass confusion like that, would that be the wise thing to do? I could easily see another person mistaking you for the perpetrator and shooting you.
  15. You can really only make that comment if you are aware of the facts, or alternatively have made up your mind about what you think the facts are.
  16. Oh I think that taxation driving up costs for the consumer has played a part as well. As has increased health insurance premiums. But I don't want to draw any comparison between smoking and incidents like today in Aurora. Just indicating that change can indeed be affected, in response to your argument that nothing can possibly be done.
  17. I don't agree with that statement. Smoking prevelance is an example that societal behaviour can be changed over time. People still smoke, but numbers are certainly way down over the last 40 years. It took a combination of regulation and education, yet keeping cigarettes legal for those who wanted to enjoy them.
  18. ***I just want normal proper procedure to be followed ... I want justice *** Those are two different concepts, often at odds with each other.
  19. I don't think guns are the problem. I think guns play a role in the problem. The size of plates and portions in restaurants are not the problem when it comes ot obesity, but it does play a role.
  20. To get to a solution, we have to first define what the problem is. We will unfortunately never get to a concensus on that. I believe that the ready and easy availability of guns plays a role in the occurence rate of these types of pre-meditated incidents. I do not believe that there is a linear relationship between the gun as a weapon and other weapons. IE, that in the absence of guns, the same amount of pre-meditated mass murders will take place with other weapons. Simply, I don't believe in the subsitution of weapon argument. I also believe there is a significant societal side to this as well. The US does appear to be that much more violent than many other western societies.
  21. So basically no discussion regarding strategies to reduce these types of occurences can be had? They are just a fact of life, nothing can be done, move along, nothing to see here.
  22. Thanks for summing it up better than I did! It is indeed interesting to see people take the exact opposite stance of what they usually do, just so they can "protect" their own opinion.
  23. So it is just the price of the 2nd Amendment? Other countries appear to have less of an incident rate of these pre-meditated mass shootings. Is it really impossible that the easy availability of guns has no impact on this? No shit Sherlock... As always the question is how to reduce and if the price of reduction is worth it.
