This sounds wonderful in theory. In practice it simply doesn't work that way. In practice the wealthier you get, the more you can alter the system in your favour. Me deciding I do not want maternal care and selecting a plan that does not include it is not me having anything stolen from me. That is why your comment makes no sense. Me saying that the Government is saying I must get HC is like saying the Government is saying I must buy a car is accurate. Trying to compare the Government mandating airbags to the ACA is dishonest. The ACA is like the Government saying each person must buy a car or pay a fine. In addition, each car must have certain features even if you do not want them... Some of those features might be good - Airbags and seatbelts for example. Some of those features might be great for some people and crap for others - For example I don't need a 4X4 or mammograms covered for me. But the ACA is not only saying I have to buy a car, but saying I must have 4X4. But giving me the option to select the features I want and discard the ones I don't.... Is in no way 'stealing' from me. So what happens when you select NOT to have coverage for breast cancer, cause you aren't that up to date on medical issues and figure men cannot get breast cancer. Now, lo and behold, you end up with breast cancer and a $250,000 bill for treatment. $250,000 you of course don't have. Now what? Declare bankuptcy and the rest of society can pay for you?

Well, outlawing skydiving could be one way to deal with the problem. Requiring skydivers to have insurance is another. At this point everyone Male and female, should be ordered to buy and use womens sanitary products We all need to explore our femime sides (by order) What you actually do with them is NOT your business anymore I don't understand why people are upset about this pregnancy coverage in all policies. I am sure the actuaries setting the premiums take this into account setting premiums. Just like they do for prostate or testicular cancer. Don't hear many women complaining their policy doesn't specifically exclude testicular cancer. Or white people asking to have sickle cell specifically excluded.

Good point. The main point I was trying to make is that CA's gun laws do not actually work. TX has far more guns and has a lower rate than CA. The biggest factors in gun violence no one ever wants to talk about.... Social. Less education, and lower resources almost always lead to more gun violence. There is a reason that most gun deaths are black males.... It has nothing to do with race, and it has absolutely nothing to do with gun laws. Until people are willing to drop the BS (Guns laws work!, Make every honest citizen go through a background check!) and focus on the real issues.... We will never solve anything. You want to stop mass shootings? Better reporting of people with mental health issues and better mental health services will do that. Making 99.9% of the population go through background checks will not do anything. You want to stop gun violence? Focus on stopping *violence* and focus your efforts in poor urban areas. Work on improving the lives of the people in those areas. As long as people focus on the item - make the item out to be evil.... We will never get anything done. And no, I am not willing to continue to give up my rights in the hope that some already proven ineffective plan will "do something". I completely agreee with you. Yet I so often hear about strong gun proponents being absolutely against increases to education spending and spending on mental health care. If I wanted to keep my guns safe as long as possible, I would want to support increases in educational and mental health spending....even if that meant tax increases.

I think these polls will always get pretty much the same answers. Relatively recent history will provide the worst presidents. The best presidents will be from a long past, specially prior to 24 hour news, cameras and society's desire to know absolutely everything.

I see the opposite, I see the media dancing around the race when it is not a white person. I see no issue in the media mentioning race as long as they mention it in ALL of the cases and not only when one race is involved. News is supposed to be about facts. Leaving out facts is not very news like. It is about relevant facts, not just a listing of all facts. Obviously for you and rick it is extremely important to know the race of a criminal if they are not white. To me race is only relevant if it is relevant to the story. I don't care if the guy who robbed the corner store is black, white, green or yellow.

Sorry, but I have a hard time understanding what you are saying in these staccato style sentences. Are you saying that the media as a whole refuses to admit that black people do bad things too? When white people beat up a black person because they hate black people it makes sense to include race. When black people beat up a white person because they hate white people, it makes sense to mention they are black. If descriptions are required for Law Enforcement, then race can be important. When it comes to John Doe held up a bank and was arrested two blocks later due to red dye on his clothes....well then race really doesn't have a whole lot of bearing. I fully reject the idea that the media as a whole has a secret agenda. That's tin foil hat stuff. If anything your news has turned into an entertainment business, so stories are reported in light of what sells.

As a matter of fact, I keep up with my old XO from Ft Hood and a friend in Houston who flew OH-6As in Vietnam. He got the Distinguished Service Cross for taking out a North Vietnamese tank. Of course it cost him the full use of his left arm, but he can still pull up on the collective control of a helicopter. Both these guys are retired Army and happen to be black. .....and of course I lost my platoon sergeant 1st tour up in I Corps. He was a black E-7, and the best.
