Did you hear that you can't keep your policy even if you liked it?

Just wondering if people were aware? Also heard that Obama said you could...is that true? -
Racist right wing Toronto mayor smokes crack on video

I think people from the previous liberal government should be criminally charged and prosecuted for their roles in the cancellation of the power plants yes. Kathrine Wynne came in after that process was completed. Don't take that as me saying I am a fan of hers. McGuinty should be standing in front of a judge. I am not blaming the media for this though, I blame my fellow citizens. -
They can only be known to be hazardous through (government funded and regulated) research, or because actual harm takes place. I specifically used asbestos int his example, since effects can be more than 20 years after continued exposure. If your neighbours have died, you would have no recourse at all. How would this work in the libertarian example? Som if they can't pay, let them die? Does that also include complications from a bad diet due to a lack of financial resources? Not just growth, but at a minimum you would want to maintain current population levels. Right, but I don't know too many coutnries where that is the case. I was thinking more along the lines of minimum language skills, minimum math skills, minimum science skills etc.

Obama's approval rating is the lowest of his tenure

------------------------------------------ your misdirection has no effect on the fact that obama's presidency is the worst in american history. How is being a corporate sock puppet worse then starting an illegal war based on lies that cost the lives of hundreds of thousands of civilians? Could you please provide evidence that it was illegal? -

The guys smokes weed (he's even admitted this) ... as do many others, including Trudeau JR (who's been praised by his media friends for coming out). If you or anyone else has credible evidence that Ford's substance abuse is anything worse than weed or Kentucky Fried Chicken, then by all means bring it forward. Until then this remains another prime example of how ridiculous the Consensus Mainstream Media has become. I have no issue with him smoking weed. But his behaviour, coupled with evidence being brought forth now has made it almost impossible for him to do his duty as mayor of Toronto. Hence, he needs to step down for the good of the city. Then if he has a substance abuse problem he really needs to find help for himself. I like what Ford stands for and I like what he has done for Toronto. But, he has not done himself any favours and has landed in a position where he is quickly becoming a liability to Toronto. Like I said, I hope conservative candidates like Karen Stintz (who declared last week she is running in next year's election), or John Tory have a good running in the next election. -
Who decides? Somebody starting an asbestos processing business in the property beside me may or may not effect my long term health. How do you propose that wuold work? Who covers the additional strain on the health care system? That system only works if you are ok with immigrants providing the growth a country requires. Agreed Cops should be held accountable, but not to a higher standard. Capital punishment cannot be undone, and the government cannot be trusted to get it right 100% of the time. I'm not willing to die for a broken system and I don't expect anyone else to, so I cannot support capital punishment. I don't think people in Washington can possibly understand the educational needs of someone in Oregon, and see no reason why they should be involved. Parks belong to the people, let the people BASE jump in them if they're only gonna hurt themselves. Taxes are stealing.*** Don't agree A lot of these Libertarian ideas make for wonderful sound bites. Nobody seems to be able to truly explain how it would work though. Libertarianism is the same as pure communism. Sounds wonderful, but will never work.

If this is The Video and the Toronto Police say the video does not contain enough evidence to press charges, might this just be yet another example in the long list of examples where the Consensus Mainstream Media attempts to invent news instead of reporting it? Or do Progressives feel that they are entitled to convict anyone they wish of a crime despite not having the evidence for charges let alone a conviction. So much for "Innocent until proven guilty". Let the witch hunt begin, it is after all Halloween. Police Cjief says it does portray what has been reported in the media, but wouldn't say anything else. Obviously it doesn't contain enough evidence to press charges, they sould have to establish that what was in the pipe was an illegal substance, which would be impossible to do from the video. I do think it is time for him to step down for the good of Toronto. If he has a substance abuse problem, he needs to get help for that! Hopefully Karen Stintz or maybe John Tory would win the mayorship in the next election. Need more time before the NDP tries to get in again.... -
Just as the reasonable people predicted . . .

Capitalism is wonderful. It is. Go down to Mexico and you can pay $25 cash for doctor visits or $35 for a one day hospital stay with a private room (one in America charged my insurance company $12,000 and I had to share with a guy having his knee replaced). Those are totals not insurance co-pays. While "capitalism" elsewhere and "corporatism" in America both start with the letter 'C' they are very different, much like the difference between "socialism" elsewhere and "corporatism" here with both ending in "ism." With capitalism companies compete in free markets with the interaction between supply and demand curves producing lower prices and/or more value for the same money. With corporatism they get laws passed on their behalf so that doesn't happen. For example, the most profitable forms of health insurance can be paid for with pre-tax dollars which lets the providers collect up to double the money for the same difference in take-home pay. So, the market place should be completely unregulated? When the mexican doctor fucks it all up and you lose a leg, or arm, or eye, or kidney. What exactly is your recourse? -
Interesting...why would you say confused?

I think that's where we disagree. If it's actively used for money laundering or illicit things it will always have some value if the volume is high enough to offload. The biggest positive use is transmitting money to the third world without getting screwed by Western Union or warlords. The key is - can you offload to a more usable currency? If it were demonized as 'that money for drug lords' and people avoid it, then how does it still function? It can't endure as a closed loop of drug sales. At some point Scarface needs to buy his Miami palace and "his little friend," and clothes for Michelle. The daily volume right now looks like only about $20-25M USD out of 1-2B, so a .2% float. This is extremely illiquid and if the number of traders drops to just the true believers, then there would be virtually no exchange going on. Look at how effectively the West squashed funding of WikiLeaks. I think it would be hard for them to scare enough people away from bitcoins, but they could get enough to legislate, particularly if people already hold such an low opinion. Sure you can...just go the the ATM http://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/world-s-first-bitcoin-atm-opens-in-vancouver-1.2286877

I pay for my own healthcare and will not qualify for an ACA subsidy, but thank you for your consideration. You really are selfish then And rich And your reading skills suck. My reading skills are just fine But you attitude toward those who have less than you is what sucks Stop being jealous of Kallend. It is so liberal. If John has more money than you, you simply haven't worked hard enough. Stop being so lazy, looking for handouts from others and get to work.

I can't answer the question. I vote based on the person, their platform and what I think is best for the country/province/city/ school board etc at that time. That could mean that I vote liberal provincially, but conservative federally, only to turn that around 4 years later.

Obama's "Abwehr" Has Gotten The Attention of Hollywood.
SkyDekker replied to rickjump1's topic in Speakers Corner
Okay, I'll bite. What is the motivation to not be consistent? It should be either Richard Milhous Nixon or Barack Obama. There must be some reason you choose to add Obama's middle name. So, what is that reason? Why not use his middle name, and why do liberals get uncomfortable when they see or hear it? He's the President of the United States; just like Franklin Delano Roosevelt or George Walker Bush. I use his middle name for emphasis (I guess this means I won't get away with just Obama anymore?). Emphasizing what? Why not use his middle name? Well that was my question, why not use Nixon's middle name, but use Obama's middle name. You seen to tap dance around the question, which leads to people coming to their own conclusions about why you may choose to do so. -

I see this as a cost of having the second amendment. -------------------------------------------------- From the looks of your avatar you are canadian. If that is the case YOU dont have a 2nd amendment. If you are canadian you dont have far to look how gun registration went in your own country and how difficult it was to create a gun registration database. Correct. We don't have a 2nd Amendment. Nor would I propose a gun registry for the US, nor am I advocating any gun abn for the US. I simply don't think it would accomplish anything positive. That doesn't take away that the US went down this road a long time ago. Shootings like this are a consequence of the road the US decided to walk on. Let me put it this way. If automobiles were added as a right to the constitution and they could be acquired and used on public lands without any training, deaths related to car acccidents would rise.

I don't understand what the issue is. If your insurance doesn't cover it, just pay for it yourself. If you cannot afford it, you simply haven't worked hard enough. Why are you protecting all these lazy people? Next thing you are going to advocate for all illegals to be automatically covered too. The US is doomed with all these lazy idiots depending on hand outs.

In other news, "Criminal steals car". I guess that means we should ban cars to prevent it from happening again. ***How do we want to measure this? 1:1? 1. Already been done. A recent report just stated that studies have shown that AT LEAST as many have been saved as have been killed. 2. I tend to measure using if the "solution" takes rights away from people who did nothing wrong. Really?? Kid shoots teacher = Criminal steals car

In this new commune of yours, are you taxed with the procurement of bumper stickers?

Wow, just 2 days ago you were whining that Huffpost was a lying pro-liberal site. What's next, lions, tigers and bears playing together, or Fox News running a pro Obama story? Cant even take it from your own!!?? Priceless Who can't? I agree with the article. However, it is certainly funny how you DENY that Huffpost is truthful, but suddenly agree with it when it prints something that's anti-Obama. Maybe you should look in that magic mirror of yours. (You remember, the one you used to tell us about). You mean that mirror I use to try and stay humble? I still have that one But it is funny how you attack ANY source that goes after your beloved government and President He is not attacking the source, as a matter of fact he said he agreed with it. He is actually saying that you generally attack the source when they don't agree with you. Lame stream media, all media is left leaning, all controlled by Obama etc etc. But then you are quick to quote that same media when they agree with you. You would be very popular at Church and Wellesley here in Toronto since you appear to be able to suck and blow at the same time. I believe it is Rush's point that EVEN the huff post is ridiculing the campaigner in chief. I know that was his point. But if you label an institution as being unable to be truthful (lamestream media etc), then it is kind of odd when you start waving the same institution around when it agrees with your position.

I do recall Obama blasting Romney for sending jobs out side the US.... Yet who was hired to fix this problem? Ah, a Canadian company. Or should I say "Eh, a Canadian company"? It would be: A Canadian company, eh.

Since the American people "choose" their president, doesn't the buck stop with them? Seems like you guys have been sucking majorly at choosing competent people.

I see it as the cost of having bad parents. It is a cost of having children yes. Some will do good, some will do bad. I am susrprised to see how quickly the parents are being labelled as bad. I thought 13 year olds could easily handle the responsibility of firearms if properly instructed? Same with guns, you have them relatively freely in circulation, some will do good, some will do bad.
