    This study states that gun violence has an economic impact of $557 billion annually. So if the Federal spend of $19B leads to only a 10% reduction in that impact it would save $55.7B. Seems like a wise investment. Edited to add: scrolling back I notice BillV already made this argument.

    Why ban immigration if illegal immigrants don't obey the laws? Gun crime is not a gun problem, but one crime by an illegal immigrant makes immigration a problem. All lagging costs. Taxes will go up to service the larger population. Electricity and other utility costs will go up once infrastructure needs to be upgraded to service the new larger population.

    Did you hold it for 10 years? $50,000 bought in Nov 2011 and sold in Nov 2021 would have netter over $10 million (before tax), which is much better than the $1.5 million today (have there been stock splits? can't remember)

    If I have $100 million in unencumbered real estate my bank would happily provide a revolving line of credit for $40 million. If I had a net worth of $2 billion, I am sure a bank would happily provide a $400 million revolver. Unless my net worth was measured 2 years ago and much of my holdings are in office assets....that Mark to Market has dropped a bit since then.

    Not entirely true. The Australian stock market has beat the US Market over the last 120 years when converted to US dollars.

    Unencumbered equity, not unencumbered liquidity. The loan is there to provide liquidity. Trump is probably running into a multitude of problems. He is convicted of lying about his assets. The assets are likely heavily cross collaterized. The office market is currently absolute shit and I wouldn't be surprised if many of his assets are under water. Lastly, it is unlikely he is going to win on appeal. The amount might get reduced a little, but more likely than not, he is going to have to pay.
