I know that for at least one of those countries it is official policy to aim for extremities first. Something Americans always maintain is entirely impossible.

Mindset people like you have shaped. You and those like you are directly responsible for what is happening.

You would think if capitalism is so great this wouldn't be happening...... Easy to blame communism, but completely misses the point.

Nothing about this is a protest. (NSFW Racial Expletives)

Ah yes another idiot who thinks everybody has equal opportunity in the US. Clueless idiot. Spent his life being told what to do and thinks he now has all the answers. -
Uhmm, the Canadian government took immediate action after the mass shooting/murder. A lot of it I do not agree with, but the idea that nothing was considered is simply not true.
-
Not for it's original purpose. There are much better and improved options available, which most, pretty much all, people acquire when they need that tool. Which was the original comment you took exception to.
-
Basically the same attitude you are displaying now. Refusal to listen to outside perspective. ....not being critical.
-
Not at all. Flintlocks are pretty much worthless for the function they were built for. Which is why they really are not being manufactured anymore.
-
We are. That's why our problems tend to be less. We are critical and then improve. Not to perfection, but we grow. Part of what you are seeing in the US is a direct result of not improving, not getting better, not being critical. It is the result of you thinking you are on top of the world and the best at everything. Basically the same attitude you are displaying now. Refusal to listen to outside perspective.

Poor turtle just feels that this website should be a safe space. He should not be subject to reading negative comments about his country from Canadians. It is all very upsetting for him and he is getting a bit triggered.

If anything you would think a christian would understand an imperfect man making lasting positive change.... -
Sure I can. But not too many flintlocks are being currently built to be collectibles. Most, if not all, collectible flintlocks are collectible because of the story/history behind the weapon. Art is being produced today. Of course non of that has to do with the US being a Banana Republic. What does have to do with that is the President peddling conspiracy theories on twitter to justify the thuggish actions of your police.

Oh look, it mentions art.....but wait, what does it not mention.....flintlock

What exactly do you think I am weaseling my way out of? And since you are a massive Trump supporter (without the balls to just state it), your denials ring hollow. You have shown in your postings here you support him all the way.

You called?

Don't you blame Mexico for your problems? You were a big supporter of building a wall between the two countries as a fix to your problems. Don't you blame MS-13 on El Salvadore, even though the gang started in California? Aren't you blaming the US pandemic response on China? Blaming the last president on Kenya. Trade imbalance on China. Maine's lobster industry on the EU........ All that to say, Canada takes full responsibility for the actions of that Nova Scotian madman. But the post did indicate how the behaviour in the US, how American society impacts our lives. Which was the point.

The idea that perfection needs to be achieved prior to being "allowed" to comment is idiotic.

National protests against Minneapolis police murderers?
SkyDekker replied to normiss's topic in Speakers Corner
That is what they put in their police report. Not only was the force unnecessary, they had no problem lying about it after the fact. -
What amazes me that we give LEO, supposedly trained in dealing with high stress situations, a lot of leeway in how they react when in high stress situations. However, we then strictly scrutinize and generally fault civilians, who are untrained in high stress situations, in how they react in those same high stress situations.

I went through some training through work around arresting, detaining, struggling, fighting with people. The trainer was a Sgt of the Toronto ETF (Toronto's SWAT). This now goes back more than 15 years. Even at that time he said: always act like you are on camera. Amazing how much compliance can be achieved with a simple pinch on the inside of the arm or thigh. -
I don't know. In the past your side of the aisle seemed to indicate that number was too easy to manipulate and therefor should not be trusted....

I have heard of art auctions. Haven't heard of too many flintlock auctions.
-
Art has a very modern use. Investment.

What doesn't help is when the President of the United States says the hopes George Floyd is looking down and saying it is a great day for him. And that today is a great day for equality. What does appear to be a fantasy is the idea of having a president who at least tries to unite.

One of the things you see in the military is an effort to dehumanize the enemy. Makes it much easier to fight and kill against those you believe to be less than you. Unfortunately you often see that same mentality creep into law enforcement. The Us vs Them.
