  1. Very friendly and helpful staff. lot's of hospitality. I'll go back and visit for sure.
  2. I'm with ya, sunset loads are the best!!!
  3. Mike Fury says that the container volumes of the dolphin D-4 and the Javelin J-4 are the same. I've got a tempo 250 packed in my dolphin d-4. my rigger said it was tight, but fits safely
  4. you've got a good point there. thanks
  5. As the parent of an 8 yr old son, we've been asked to come to school and give a short presentation about either what we do for work, or a hobby. I thought it would be cool to take in a skydiving video, my gear and give a little presentation about skydiving. I've been waiting for my reserve re-pack to come due so I could open both canopies for show. I am trying to gather video clips to put together (G rated please). If anyone has some they'd like to share, that would be great. I'm looking for video with maybe some floaters outside the plane, some free fall shots, under canopy shots from a boogie with lot's of canopies, and maybe a shot from the ground of a canopy malfunction/cutaway/reserve deployment. I'd also like a good shot in slow motion of a complete canopy opening. If anyone has video to share, or any cool ideas, please contact me. Thanks!
  6. "Anti-Christian" may be a less offensive term. I think many people equate the term "Antichrist" with satan.
  7. ok, if you forget to cock your pilot chute will it really eventually open your main?
  8. I had my first hard opening a couple weeks ago, and I'm still abit sore and bruised from it. Anyhow it got me to thinking, and I wondered if it was posssible to fall out of the harness had I been in a sitting position. I also thought about a time early on when I hadn't properly adjusted my rig and rode the canopy down with a chet strap in my throat. what's my point you might ask?...... well, I concluded that had I been able to fall out of the harness thru the bottom, it probably would have broken my neck in the process meaning that it wouldn't likely be survivable anyhow. Just a rookies thought. feel free to comment
  9. anybody know the difference between a raven II and a raven 2B?
  10. well, it's minimal traveling downwind in brakes. Anyhow, it worked, and I didn't even get any on my jumpsuit
  11. I've chewed copenhagen in freefall. I just can't spit until I'm under canopy, and even then I've found that it's a good idea to have the wind at my back when doing so.
  12. ok, so how many people actually jump naked on their 100th??
  13. do you have any idea how much this work might cost? The price on the rig certainly seems to be right.
  14. Jump Shack put out a notice re-designating the older racers with single strand main lift webs for round canopies only. does anybody know if the factory can make the main lift webs safe for square canopies again? or would a rig like this just be a bad investment?
  15. any chance they were previously owned by a company called "Glide Path Int'l"
  16. does anyone know which manufacturer makes a "Manta" 280??
  17. holy cow! if you count line twists as a mal, I've had 4 jumps with 4 mals. with each one, I've had to spin around at least 720 degrees if not more to get everything straight. They don't seem to be a biggie, and I'm beginning to think they just come with the sport.
  18. Hey! I tried jumping off the roof using an umbrella when I was a kid. It created no drag whatsoever. what size umbrella do you use?
  19. ok, I got to give it a try this weekend, and it was alot of fun. I downsized from a 300 to a fury 260 because the 300 was being used. the smaller canopy was quite different, and responede much faster. I sure love this sport! Thanks for all your helpful comments. ..............I wonder what it's like to freefall?
  20. Last week at the DZ I overheard a gal talking about a jump earlier that day where she had flown thru a cloud under canopy and how her lines were a little wet when she came out. she talked as if the experience was cool. I know it's not legal to do this, but at first I thought that would be cool too. After a little thought I realized that if the lines were wet, then the canopy must have been wet too. wouldn't a wet canopy fly dirrerent and pose a safety issue?? Just wondering................Thirsty for knowledge I guess
  21. Well I wouldn't play the lottery this week But seriously, I reckon that would freak me out a bit too. I hope you get things worked out and continue to enjoy the sport.
  22. well, I only ask because in the middle of my second jump my instructor told me (via 1 way radio) to try a couple spiral turns. He instructed me to "tunr" then farther, then farther, then farther. I pulled the toggle considerably farther than I had ever done previously, however in my mind I remembered that a canopy could stall if both risers are pulled too far for too long. I didn't recall covering in class what could happen if you pull the turning toggle down too far, and I reckon I just didn't want to take a chance on doing something wrong until my instructor and I had discussed it beforehand, and I had an opportunity to ask questions. I'm not a wuss by any means, however I intend to respect this sport and have made my mind up that I won't take any unecessary risks. with that said.............what is a spiral turn anyways?
  23. when doing spiral turns, how far can you pull down on your toggle before it will cause the canopy to become unstable? can it "stall" while turning?
  24. I'm new to skydiving, and I'd like to get a rig that doesn't cost a fortune. what do ya'll think about the MC-4's and the MT-1XX's? You can get a pretty good deal on those, and I understand they can be outfitted with a cypress. they do have RSL, and the canopies are supposed to be really forgiving and easy to fly.
  25. Gee, I'm sure glad that my prosthetic testicle is sewn in place!
