He said I was a "fucking lurker" and I needed to post, so here goes...... Anyone care to share their favorite sunset load games? for example, interesting variations of a "hit n chug" jump or anything else that would be entertaining. BTW, Skinnyshreck is a good guy. If you run across him at a boogie, bring him a beer and he'll tell ya some great stories. He's the one who looks like Chip Foose

thanks. I see the other threads now. I guess I should have searched before posting

Don't forget "Old Tucson". It is (or was) a famous movie set and tourist trap where dozens and dozens of movies were filmed. I know it burned down a few years back, but I understand it was re-built again. That was a pretty cool place when I was a kid.

Now that big screen installation really rocks. At least from the living room. Looks like somebody sacraficed half their bedroom to make it possible.

What Foods Do you Crave/Have you Made Whilest Drunk?

I must like chocolate cake and beer. I know it sounds gross and they just don't go well together, but I find myself mixing the two often when I've been drinking. -

Hypnosis and Cigarettes/Quitting Smoking? Anyone? Anyone?
point_code replied to NoShitThereIWas's topic in The Bonfire
I wonder if hypnosis can help me with my fall rate? -
gottcha. Anyhow, in the end you are responsible for YOUR actions regardless of the motive. If you can sleep well at night afterwards then go for it, if not then perhaps you need to reconsider.

sweeeeeet! That's the best idea I've heard all week. Since I can't be there, I'll send cash and you'll send me a video??

what's a percussion tuning?

hey, that's a good idea. spending an hour pulling a few hundred out of magazines at the grocery store and dropping them in the mail (blank of course) might bring a bit of satisfaction.

Oh, I really hate these!!!! They are one of my biggest pet peeves!!!! Well actually, they just piss me off. they fall out on the floor when yer thumbing thru a magazine at the drug store, they fall out on your bathroom floor after you've purchased the magazine and take it home to read it, and I refuse to read the damn things. In my opinion they are the paper equivilent of telemarketers. I don't think I've ever seen one of these stupid inserts in Parachutist magazine, so they really rock in that department. And another thing.......removable ad inserts aside, when I buy a magazine about a particular topic whether it's skydiving, woodworking, hotrodding, or nude babes, I do so because I have an interest in that particular topic and I want to read about it. Has anyone noticed that magazines are more than 50% advertisements and less than 50% actual content. My only exception is the ads in Parachutist magazine because I love to see all the cool skydiving stuff for sale. In contrast many other magazines contain advertisements for Viagra, womens femanine products, how to build a hovercraft using old vaccume cleaner parts, or something else that's completely unrelated to the magazine or it's intended subject matter. I hate these things. : )

That's one baglock and cutaway I wouldn't want to experience.

Your best guess...how fast do you think I was going in this pic?
point_code replied to ACMESkydiver's topic in The Bonfire
well since your tach is reading about 1200 RPM, I'd say you were idleing in your driveway with a broken speedo. -
and I remember it being hotter than hell there too. I miss the dry heat though. it was 115 here 2 weeks ago at the Redemption boogie and the humidity must have been off the charts

I grew up in Coolidge and can remember the sound of the jumpships every weekend. My mom and dad took me to the DZ waaaaay out in the desert a few times as a little kid and I thought it was just too cool. Anyhow, I've been gone from there for 20 years and didn't get into skydiving til I was nearly 40. Just wondered if anyone I knew was jumping there. Too bad it's closed down. It would be cool to go back and jump.

I've got a dolphin D-4. My reserve is a tempo 250 and my rigger says it's snug but wasn't overly difficult to pack. I also fly a sabre 210 main and it fits well.

I saw it recently and I thought it was hilarious! There were several "special" people in the movie, and I'm sure 1 or 2 of the main charachters were actually "special" as well. One of them had Downs Syndrome but he was a brilliant charachter. they were very clever, quick witted, and extremely likable charachters in the movie. I don't recall any portions of the movie where they mocked or made fun of the "special" people, in fact, I thought the movie portrayed them in a generally positive light. The only exception was one star track athelete that the movie mocked, but his charachter was kindof a self centered jerk and I don't think he was "special". I think in general, if the movie mocked or made fun of anyone it was some of the normal people and they deserved it anyhow. I wouldn't guess that you would find it offensive. Just my guess though

SWEEEEEET!!!! Where can I get one?? I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance so I think I can afford it.

I had a problem with fear too for my first 8 or 10 jumps. I would daydream all week about jumping and then on the ride up fear would kick in and I'd begin to wonder why I kept putting myself thru it. When the jump was over, the fear was gone and I was dying to go back up. After the 10th jump or so that stopped and I got comfortable with the ride up. I still get butterflies on the first ride up after a 3 or more week layoff, but after the climbout, everything is great. I would imagine that time and experience will put the fear completely behind us.

anyone here actually from Coolidge?
