Actually Scott, all he did was use my arguement, "You don't know anything about my country, so just STFU about it." I stand by my earlier comment that you can't have an intelligent conversation about anything America does with most people who don't live there. You just get statements like: As if Canada doesn't need the oil from that region just as much as we do, or Canada wasn't there kicking Iraq out of the country with us. But apparently when Canada, Germany, France or Britain does something it's for the good of Mankind, while America is only looking out for its own ass.

Got a good friend up in Indiana who quit for the same reason. They popped a new tax on cigerettes to balance the budget and he said enough was enough. In the early 90's a pack of Marlboros was about a 1.10, 10 years later it was up to 3.40. He could never quit for his health, but he sure could quit when the state pissed him off

When they're from other countries, it's been my experience that yes, you can't have an intelligent conversation with them about it. Quotes like below are example why. Care to compare the crime rate for Miami against London? Guns really don't impact the murder/crime rate, people can kill each other with just about anything. But the real issue is that guns in America are none of your business, you don't live here. Guns are pretty much banned in Canada and you don't see Americans up in arms about it or even having an opinion about it. If you're an American every little thing your country does is open to speculation by every other country in the world no matter what the circumstances surrounding it. There's a reason why we interfere in the spread of communism. There's a reason why we allow our citizens to arms themselves. But the "America Bashers" don't care about that, I think they're really only looking for something to bitch about with our country. It's almost like it's an international hobby that has been going on for decades. You don't like the situation in the Middle East? Fine, what has Canada done about it? You don't like how we dealt with the USSR in Afghan back in the 80's? Fine, what was Canada doing about it at the time? America tends to take a lead in a lot of world conflicts. We get involved, we get dirty, most of these situations are conflicts that go back thousands of years. Sometimes they work out, sometimes they don't. Criticize all you want, but at the end of the day what's Canada doing to help the world situation?

It goes way beyond that. Try having an intelligent conversation with a European about America and guns. Won't happen. Not only that, but most are damn pleased to point out how "horrible" a country we are for having so many firearms in our households. Do you see American's getting all up in arms about the British government's ban on guns? How about the restrictions in Germany on certain forms of speech you'd be constitutionally protected for in America? Never comes up because we don't give a damn. If you don't like the laws or attitude, don't live there. Yeah, we screw around in the affairs of other countries. We have a foreign policy that forces us to interfere with the spread of communism. We supported the Afghan freedom fighters against the USSR back in the 80's and it blew up on us. We're supporting the Columbian government right now against 2 socialist factions there and that might blow up on us. We fought against it in Vietnam and it blew up on us. Anyone remember Korea? Why'd we get involved there? It sure as hell wasn't for oil, maybe it was the cuisine. Cuba? Maybe we wanted to corner the cigar market. It's pretty f'ing easy to never have problems when you're sitting on your butt doing nada.

I love how everyone outside of America is an expert on the American constitution/foreign policy/space program/bathing habits/etc/etc. We drink, we smoke, we own guns, we don't give a crap about our leaders, we love cars, we have low taxes, our women shave their armpits, we screw with other countries to fight against communism and we'll give the shirt off our backs to anybody that asks. Don't like it? Fucking deal with it. You don't see us bitching about Quebec.

Think manufactures put a min age of 18 on Tandems. The USPA has 18 as the min age for AFF and 16 for SL. If I remember right. Non-USPA DZs don't have the follow that though. I think the "not able to sign a waiver for someone under 18" is specific to some states and not a universal thing.

Can't say that this is typical for most DZs. My last weekend at Skydive America a first jump AFF student ignored the radio and went down about a half mile off the DZ into the sugarcane. The pilot did several power dives onto her position to point her out, landed back near the manifest so one of the local guys inside could grab a spare chute and took off with him for a 2.5k hop and pop over her position. She wasn't hurt and was talking on the radio.

Heh, funny thing is that while I believe in the death penalty. I think jail time for anything but violent offenders is pretty silly. As if locking someone in a cage is really going to teach them anything. Any-hoo, this thread got waaaay off-topic. I hope they catch the bastards that did this.

WTF? 5 jumps out of a plane and you're supposed to be a skygod? Hell, I didn't get over sensory overload until my first 10 second delay, and that was jump #15. Can you: 1> Get out of the plane alive? 2> Deploy the main stable and at altitude? 3> Land your ass in one piece? If you can at least do that I don't see what the big bitch is.

Try Invader Zim sometime. That show's hilarious.

Hopefully it means they're about to cancel the show, it's a waste of a time slot. Of course this is the same network that decided to cancel Futurama and Family Guy, so I doubt it.
