    Guys...

Not really crazy, I don't date. But then I gave up trying to be a "normal" person a long time ago. The sky has no expections. It won't judge you or ask you to commit to more than you're ready for. It's just there.
  2. Bigger and heavier doesn't mean safer. You have more energy to disipate in an impact with your SUV than I do in my dodge neon. If we both go off the road and slam into a tree, I'll have less energy running through my body than you will. A safe vehicle is one that does a good job transfering that energy into the frame of itself and not into you. I'm pretty sure most cars do that better than most SUVs. Plus cars are probably more manueverable. I've never driven an SUV, so I don't know how well you can see out of them. But I do know I avoid them like the plague when I'm on my bike, because the people driving them can't seem to see for shit. An extra 2 tons of steel wrapped around your ass doesn't make it any safer.
  3. C'mon dude, haven't you ever watched the X-Files?
  4. Actually I don't think he's missing anything. You still need energy to get the hydrogen used in fuel cells from someplace, and honestly that's as likely to be oil as anything else. If you destroy all the deserts in Arizona putting up solar panels to create hydrogen it really isn't any more 'environmentally friendly' as pumping gasoline byproducts into the air. Clean energy is always going to be a problem. But at least with fuel cells we can pick and choose how we're destroying the environment to get that energy.
  5. Yeah, it takes energy to extract hydrogen but that energy doesn't have to come from oil. Fuel cells are just a way to store energy, same as gas, but they're a lot more effecient and cleaner. Some areas of the country and even some countries could develop energy excesses and devote it to exporting hydro. That energy excess might be oil, but could just as easily be hydro-electric, solar, wind, tidal, nuclear, etc. There's a lot of ways to get hydrogen, but only the one way to get gasoline. We've really needed to get off that stuff in awhile. But with gas prices being so low in the US(1.20 per gal) I won't be holding my breath waiting around for any mass conversation onto anything else. But I've love to see fuel cell cars. They're really overdue IMHO.

    Guys...

Probably one of two reasons: 1> He really isn't that interested to begin with, but doesn't want to say anything to upset you. 2> He doesn't know he's suppose to give you an answer, because the way you asked the question wasn't something a man has the communication skills to pick up on.
  7. I was gonna say get a Mirage until I read the below: Think mine is gonna run me a little under 2.5k But I'll own it for quite awhile.
  8. Here's a very blunt article on the Middle East: http://www.opinionjournal.com/extra/?id=105001688
  9. Hmm, what snapped his neck, the weight of the camera + the impact? Think I've heard of that happening a few times before in this sport. Too bad these heavier cameras couldn't be mounted on the chest or something.
  10. Never really thought of it in those terms too. Plus you figure if you're 18+ most judges is gonna say "well, he was an adult, he was responsible for himself" but when it's a minor things are going to get more murkey.
  11. Grandma could sue the dropzone, then the manufacturer, etc. The waiver is a guard against that. But people do exaggerate legal stuff. Anybody can sue anyone for anything in this country, but it doesn't mean they'll win and it doesn't have to cost you a gazillion dollars to defend yourself. In fact I can sue you for starting this post. Are you scared yet? And before the flamefest starts the above is all IMHO, IANAL, etc etc ad nasuea.
  12. I dunno, I sorta think Pierce Brosnan was born for the role.
  13. "Florida Fantasy Festival" Shit, I gotta go to that this year.
  14. Ahh this reminded me. I met the SuSE developers once at an expo. Bunch of freaks!
  15. Always been meaning to try FreeBSD, since I've heard nothing but good things about it. But I've been using Linux for about 8 years, so I kinda know how it works. Bit of a pain to switch to something else.
  16. Debian from the testing branch using WindowMaker under X11. Been using Debian for about 3 years now, before that I used RedHat and Slackware.
  17. 24/7. Winter? What's that?

  19. I think I saw that and it was pretty good. One of the things that stood out was that they mentioned that the "risk takers" made every effort to make the risk taking as safe as possible, using the latest available technology, etc.
  20. Your ftp site rocks. There's a couple vids I downloaded that I watch over and over. They're just fun jumps, basically the kind of crap I want to do once I actually get some skill. Keeps me motivated.

  23. Yeah, but if they're using a direct bag deployment I don't think a lot can go wrong even if you're unstable. I did a flip and got tangled in my lines. The chute was fine, I just got some bruised legs. I totally think this is the way to go. I've seen a lot of students freak out under their first canopy ride, where no one has any real control of them. At least by leading with a couple tandems the student gets the feel of the sensations before actually having to go through it alone.
  24. I can totally see MTV doing what skydive Miami said they did. That station went to crap somewhere in the early 90's when they went from a station that played music videos to the station that "was" music.
