Ouch. No 3 ring impressions, but I do have a nasty riser scrape on my neck. My chest is what hurts me the most though, that's where I took the brunt of the opening shock. I recently went from deploying at 5k to deploying at 3.5k, so I was a lot more amped about getting my PC out. I think that killed my body position which is what got me hurt on the opening. Needless to say I'm going to be a lot more focused on my body position during deployment from now on.

:7:0 Bruise some ribs on my 2nd jump of the day on Friday(extremely violent opening), got 2 more in on that day and thanks to Advil I managed 3 more on Saturday. Hurt too much to jump today though

"reviewed"? Did you sign a contract for it yet? If not, I doubt you're going to see a cent with your other credit problems. Options are: Move in with parents. Move in with a friend. Take a crappy job at McDonalds or Taco Bell to get by until something better comes along.

Call Teri loans and find out where the hell your loan is.

She looks like a lady to me: Friday: 75 degrees, winds 5-10 mph Saturday: 80 degrees, winds 5-10 mph Sunday: low 80's, chance of isolated showers Gonna skip work Friday to hit the mini-boogie at my local DZ, then do safety day and some jumping on Saturday at the same place. If Sunday is good and I'm still able to crawl into the plane, I'll jump then too

Big dogs rock. Too bad I live in a 550 sq ft apartment or I'd get one.

I'd be pissed that they messed with my gear without my knowledge, not that they turned my Cypres off. I wouldn't care that they turned my Cypres off, I would care that they made an adjustment to my gear without telling me though.

Damn, 2 out of 3. 1> No liars. 2> No mean girls. 3> You gotta be in decent shape, take care of your bod. It's all about respecting yourself and those you care about.

I take 95 to 595, head west on 595/75 towards Naples until I reach US 27 which is the last exit before 75 becomes a toll road. Then I take US 27 north to South Bay. The first stop light in South Bay is US 80 and I turn right on that. About a mile east on that the first stop light will be US 715 and I take a left on that. That'll head north through South Bay/Bella Glade and a couple miles out of town the dropzone will be on the left.

It takes me about 1 hour 15 mins to get to SOBE from Fort Lauderdale. You can drive pretty fast on 95/595 and US 27, just slow down when you get close to South Bay. There's often a speed trap just south of town.

Seems the winning bid was $1500, 250 jumps on main, 0 on reserve, doesn't say on the container, also includes a 11/94 Cypres that had it's service in 11/02 and a battery put in on 01/02. The container looks nice in the pics.

Hey, that'd be a pretty good looking rig if it was a Mirage

Doesn't look too shabby. I wonder though if the Islam part will work over time. Would the US constitution have worked as well as it has if Christianity was "The Way"? Edit: actually I guess it only applies for the transition period. Wonder if they'll tie it in though on the final draft.

Education doesn't do squat when a brutal tyrant orders someone to shoot a 9mm bullet into your head. But I find it funny that this thread disolved into a flamefest because someone stated it wasn't the business of the US to get involved. If we don't get involved, we're burying our heads in the sand. If we do, we're nation building, killing babies, or whatever. Oh, and when we finally DO get involved it's only because of self interests("blood for oil"), which to me is a duh-ism because frankly if we're going get our people killed or kill other people I'd sure as hell hope there was a good reason. Screwed if you do, screwed if you don't, and if you finally do, you screwed up in how you did it. Don't really matter much because this is all the opinion of a spoiled brat who's never had to live in a country where someone could order my death or rape my sister on a whim, so I don't really know what it's like or all about. Thank God.

Hey that's my pick-up line!! How do you think I got Kansasskydiver? I thought you just said, "Hello". That usually works on me.

Naw, just change it to "Wanna fuck? Hey nice shoes!". You don't lead with the compliment because it makes them suspicious.

Sponsorship Questions and General Manufacturer discussion
MarkM replied to aubsmell's topic in Gear and Rigging
One way things get replaced is by coming out with a better product. Neptunes I bet are selling pretty well, even though there's absolutely nothing wrong with the old alti 2's and 3's. Aerodyne updated the Triathlon design a couple years ago and canopies sent in for relines where getting some of the mods, so I sent mine in for a reline even though it wasn't 100% due for one. But would I buy a 2004 Triathlon to replace my 1996 Triathlon if my 1996 one was still in decent shape, even though the 2004 one might be better? No. But in 2 years if I decide to get an airlock canopy(everyone at my DZ is gaga over them right now), I'd buy an Aerodyne airlock(if they made one and the reviews were decent) over another company because my Triathlon has born the years out so well. I see brand loyalty all over the place. People love their Wings, Mirages, Alti's and so on. I think you have to keep that by producing an awesome product that would last forever and won't go away over night, but then keep coming out with new toys so your customers are buying the upgrades. -
Am I cool because I skydive, or do I skydive because I'm cool?
MarkM replied to TitaniumLegs's topic in The Bonfire
I'm a dork. Skydiving doesn't alter that to any degree. -
I hear they have electricity and running water in the town now.

I can understand their attitude, actually. If the screen blanks out due to this issue, it's still on and working properly. From a jumper's perspective the worst case is that the unit is off and they don't know it. That shouldn't be a big deal since the Cypres is just a backup device. You should be jumping like it was off anyway. For those jumpers not comfortable with that they can send it in to have it fixed. If they made the fix manditory, it might piss off those jumpers who didn't care about the issue and would just assume have it fixed on the 4 year maint.

Looking forward to reading it. Brian gave a free canopy lecture at SOBE a few months back, it was very informative. I liked how he covered not just the canopy, but the pilot the flies it. First thing I do now when the canopy deploys is breath in and out slowly, relax, soak in the awesome view, calm my mind down. Then when I'm going in for that landing I get mentally eager to meet with the ground. It's really helped a lot.

Course correction? He made a bonehead decision to swoop the pond - prior to setting up for the swoop he could have changed his mind and landed elsewhere. lovely assumption, but thats all it is is an assumption. fact is he died because he turned to low. that is failure to react, you can speculate it was because he was impaired, but again its only a speculation, for all you know he'd made his last 100 hook turns under the same conditions.... The jumper's name was Ron, he was one of my instructors. A year before he died I watched him almost go in due to a really bad decision he made. I don't doubt he died for making two more bad decisions: smoking a bunch of pot before his jump and attempting to swoop the pond in that condition. Maybe if he'd done a "course correction" a year back and attempted to play it safer in the future he wouldn't have gone in, but as you say that's only speculation.

I don't doubt you're low maint as is Heather, most skydiving peeps are pretty down to earth. That's one of the things I like about the sport. But I work in Boca Raton FL and every girl there is basically high maint. My friends and I call them Boca Babes. It's just a classic laugh when one of them claims that they're not high maint, so I brought it up as a joke.

Every time I hear a chick say that, I think "yeah right".
