Not bad for a little $5 dollar hand held camera.

Heard about this on the DZ this afternoon at Miami. It's rare to hear about someone dying so quickly while you're at a DZ, so you knew it was someone well loved in the sport. My best wishes to Gus' family, the folks at DeLand and the pilot involved.

Never had this issue with my Z1. Flew once without a full face because I had forgotten it. On a tracking dive that day I looked up and back at a friend. Well, when I looked up I got a full blast of 120mph wind up my nose. Felt like I had to sneeze for hours after that... But I think most FFers use open face helmets because they like the wind on your face. Plus it's more fun to geek when they can see your face.

Well, we'd have to negotiate on the box part, but everything else works for me

Novell 5.0 or 6.0 Admin.. ASAP!!! Starts Next Tuesday.
MarkM replied to rhino's topic in The Bonfire
Heh, actually the Novell is now in the service of the Penguin. They're a Linux company now. -
One of the things I appreciated about your other book and from a seminar you did once at SOBE is that you focus on the mental state of the jumper and not just the physical reactions that lead to success. It's hard to do the right thing, when your mind's primal survival instincts can be your worst enemy. Looking forward to your new book.

Get my C, or maybe not, it won't really affect my jumping any. Learn to sitfly with my hands behind my back, if I'm in the mood to work on that. Train for some more aggressive canopy landings, or not if I get distracted by something else to do. Wingsuit jumping should be a possibility for me by the end of summer, or I just may wait another 100 jumps or so before I try it. Maybe I'll break down and buy a camera... or just spend the money on other toys instead. I'm so goal oriented it's scary.

Don't forget that the tires will be slick and you need to keep the RPMs down for the break in period. Attached is my baby. I love her, but she's tempermental as all hell(makes me rebuild the carbs yearly).

You mean this image? I googled "sophisticatedly sexy" and there it was.

Just went through 3 interviews with an employer and they made me an offer yesterday that I took #1 thing, be honest without being too modest. Also consider that the interview is a 2 way street. They're not just interviewing you, you're interviewing them. The way I look at jobs is that it's a win/win business relationship between the employer and the employee. The employer gets an employee that earns them more money than they're investing in the person, while the employee gets stability in their life(regular paycheck). So approach the interview with that in mind. They should be getting what they need from you as an employee, but you should also be getting from them what you need from an employer. If neither of you match the needs the other requires, you won't enjoy your job.

Really, if you don't turn him in he's going to get caught anyway. Being that he's so bad off he needs to hide in your garage. But if you took the 100 mil, when he does get caught so will you. Not that you'd be able to launder 100 mil anyway.

Depends on the context. If someone I never met broke into my locked apartment while I was there they'd get shot. However if some crazed psycho woman who I had over once or twice before got into my place somehow, even though I didn't want her there I'd just call the police. It depends entirely on whether or not I feel that my life is in danger.

LOL, yeah he's peaceful. The speaker's corner just turns him into Mr Hyde. But in person he's one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Also if you're going to be living near him you might want to car pool up to Seb with him. I did that a lot(and still plan too once I get some job issues worked out) and it saves gas money / keeps the ride from getting boring. There's a couple people up in the WPB area you can car pool up to Seb with.

My 1st canopy was loaded at 1.33 and it hurt
MarkM replied to xavenger's topic in Safety and Training
It's just not safety, it's also comfort and flying something that will best teach you. You can end up in a situation where you're scared of your canopy and instead of learning to land, you learn how to do controlled crashes. -
Possible? Sure. Likely to have more trouble in it than if you weren't skydiving. Sure. Skydiving sucks down time and money. Both are big issues in a serious relationship.

Cool vid. I especially liked the ATB track, hadn't heard it before. I love watching vids and finding new tunes.

Any chance you can put it up on skydivingmovies.com?

Loitering. You should see what they do to jaywalkers.

Not relying on my arms. At the moment I'm still learning to use my legs as my control surfaces and then I want to get to the point where I can put my arms behind my back while maintaining a stable on heading sit.

Nice. Only $650 too? I take it releasing the wing grips would be the equivilant of cutting away a bird man suit's wings? ex/ you're in a flat spin and can't recover.

Spanker... and hand cuffs, leather and latex should be involved in the process.

SUN has been working with tech along the same lines for their desktop system(runs under Linux and Solaris). I really don't see how it will improve the user experience with the PC. In the end, it's just a fancy way to minimize or shade an application you're not focused on. I think the next revolution will be when OLEDs get big and we have cheap and flexible PC displays.

Anyone switched from SL to AFF during progression?
MarkM replied to Orange1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Got past 15 sec delays in SL and then went to AFF(moved to FL, they only had AFF here). Benefits: I absolutely 100% knew I could exit the plane, deploy my own parachute and land it completely on my own. Worries I had: I hadn't ever read my alt during freefall(the delays were counted), was sort of worried about whether or not I'd be able to see it(silly I know). Was a little worried about jumping from so high up(was used to 3-5k exits) and whether or not I could maintain stability for so long a freefall. But it was nice being able to focus 100% on the freefall portion of AFF and not need to worry about the exit, deployment and landing. -
I can see what you're saying, but you could give the argument that a student needs more coaching than anyone else. For example, it's very difficult (and very crucial) for someone with 10 jumps to learn to track. Staying "one step ahead" of the student isn't always the best method. Well let's take a real world example. You know Bo and Paula from Goshen, right? When I was their student in 2000 they were doing static line jump mastering. Today they're doing AFF and tandems. Now in Florida I'm sure I could find someone who has been doing AFFI for only a couple of years and had done more of that than Bo has, but I'd still feel Bo would be a better instructor. He may not be teaching how to jump rounds(some of the containers had round reserves then) or putting students out on ropes today but it's life experience he brings with him. And for a general instructor I think life experience matters more. If they reach a point in more advanced training where they are just one step ahead, odds are they'll be on a first name basis with people who are very skilled in that area and they can introduce you to them.

It also puts stress onto your jaw joint and can lead to TMJ.
