  1. I have the solution: a pox on both their houses; bomb the Syrians.
  2. Settler my tongue was in my cheek, Ron.
  3. I looked at your poll choices, and gotta hand it to you: there are no other sensible choices; you've nailed them all.
  4. I think she either wrote it herself or it was written by some other woman to promote the militant feminist agenda. Just like that lesbian wait..person. They do that all the time.
  5. Reread the topic again. Try to draw objective conclusions. I do not understand why the theme repeatedly raised the issue of Communists Georgian Stalin, Ukrainians Khrushchev and their deeds. And why action Georgians and Ukrainians put the blame Russian people. How can it be related to current events. Friends you have the logic all right? Stalin - an ethnic Georgian. Khrushchev - an ethnic Ukrainian. KGB founder Dzerzhinsky - an ethnic Pole. Can tell they did not know? If you have a defense for Russia's current actions in the Ukraine, please tell us.
  6. You keep deflecting the discussion. This thread is about Russia and Ukraine, not about American history. Telling people "Your country has done bad things, too" is not a defense to "What Russia is doing is wrong". If you have a defense for Russia's actions, tell us, but please stop changing the subject.
  7. Hello? You'll notice my avatar? -A rabbi, a priest and a lawyer fall off a boat into the ocean. Sharks eat the rabbi and the priest, but leave the lawyer alone. -Why? -Professional courtesy!
  8. Sigh. Here. Drink this: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_joPAckYRJio/TR0n66_bFRI/AAAAAAAAAFU/NbBmAJj7Iyw/s1600/kool+aid.jpg
  9. How do you know anything about this guy's politics? Well, he doesn't, of course. There's a modern form of Neanderthal class in the blogosphere that have been conditioned by FoxNews and its wannabes to use "liberal" as a catch-all pejorative for everything they hate, and then giggle like Beavis and Butthead, because, well... they really don't have the capacity to do much more.
  10. Maybe not the exact thing, but it's becoming increasingly commonplace for governors and mayors to decline to live in luxurious official residences: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/12/garden/when-governors-refuse-the-mansions.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0
  11. Let's hear it for pilots! Soft opening, always on heading, forgives a really long spot, and the flare's pretty good.
  12. Pencil? We had to scratch on a piece of slate. Slate! You were lucky to have a slate! We used a stick to scratch our essay in the dirt! We couldn't use dirt for writing; it was all we had to eat. Eat??
  13. There's nothing contrary to it - the two go hand-in-hand. Gun sales are brisk BECAUSE he's a gun-grabbing liberal. Nope you got it wrong, J - he's a gun-grabbing liberal because gun sales are brisk. If you don't want skinny mulattoes grabbing your guns, don't buy them.
  14. All of Eastern Europe - the several former soviet socialist republics and their prized satellites - are scrambling over each other to join the EU's sphere of influence. By contrast, learn the lesson of Georgia: the only way Russia can keep another country in Russia's sphere of influence is at the point of a gun. That is not Russia's strength, it is Russia's weakness.
  15. "All he did was apply for the job and accept the offer." Greatly understates his involvement, and really suggest that he did not negotiate. So, no, it either looked like you didn't understand that, or are actively being defensive about it for some reason. Nah, now you're just spinning-up what I said. Look, if you can show me that the fix was in, I'll be much more open-minded to the OP's point.
  16. kvak. pizdobol This means war! I will meet you in Sevastopol with dueling pistols.
  17. Exactly; this is why I think that directing the outrage at the Super is mostly misplaced. All he did was apply for the job and accept the offer. Now, if he under-performs, ok, by all means take him to task for that. But he didn't make the final decision on his salary, the school board did. BS - that offer didn't come out of thin air - he negotiated for it, and that home loan package. I'd place more anger at those on the other side of the table, but no free pass for him either. . Sigh. Don't you think I understood that when I wrote my post? Of course he negotiated for it. But at the end of the day, it was the the school board's decision to either accept his bid and hire him, or reject his bid and hire someone else for less compensation. I stand by my post.
  18. Well, this is very interesting! When I started this thread, that link had a photo clearly giving the Bellamy salute (aka the Nazi salute). But now, the photo has been replaced by one showing them using the the arm position commonly used for taking an oath! ETA: I just found this story: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/erik-wemple/wp/2014/03/04/ap-removes-misleading-trail-life-usa-photo-from-its-archives/ I'm dismayed that the AP wimped out and allowed themselves to be intimidated. A sad day for journalism.
  19. My own 50+ years anecdotal experience is that everyone I've ever known who's said that and actually believed it has been a fool.
