  1. Neutral observation: the road looked pretty dry to me. Didn't look like it was raining, either. FWIW, I've dealt with about a zillion traffic accident cases in my career in just about every capacity - lawyer, spectator in court, arbitrator, mediator. I've also been driving for about 35 years. Based on that video, I'd assess blame for the overall situation at about 60% on the pickup driver for being aggressive, and about 40% on the vidiot for passive aggression. However, liability for the actual physical accident itself was about 90% on the pickup driver - he could have just flipped her off and sped off, but no, he deliberately pulled in to intimidate her, possibly even to clip her and/or run her off the road, and that's the final factor that caused the accident. I've been alive for over 50 years. I'm not a passive person, and I get offended by people getting in my face or treating me unfairly. So sometimes I've responded in anger. And I can tell you that almost 100% of the time the result wound up being worse for me than had I kept my temper better in check.
  2. If you look, it's obvious they copied & pasted the graphic directly from Jedi's website to theirs, and then simply changed the color of the stitching on "their" suit to yellow. LOL, now I understand why this "advertising" thread was left up: public service.
  3. Jesus looked like a girl. Or at least, kinda girlie. I never thought you two met. What was he wearing? Long wavy hair and a thong.

  5. With all due respect, Sir, I'm not holding my breath, either. Remember all that porno spam I reported a few months ago that was started by a certain now-banned (though recently reincarnated) member a few months ago? Well, I'm still getting his "boogers", even though I've set my spam filters on maximum. It doesn't really matter to me, as I never ever use my DZ.com e-mail for anything; but it is what it is.
  6. When my dad said it was. End of story.
  7. If it were only that simple. Where I am at, half my packing staff last year wasn't even old enough to jump. We don't have enough skydivers interested in doing the job to keep the DZ running. I understand the practicality you refer to, but I only have limited sympathy for it. Economics, convenience, or even necessity doesn't make it right. Back in The Day, a lot of small DZs used to let 50-jump wonders who didn't have jumpmaster ratings put out S/L students under a similar rationale. It might have been seen as necessary, but that didn't make it right. More to the point (since analogies are always imperfect): somehow, the idea slightly bugs me of someone packing others' rigs who wouldn't be willing to stand by his pack jobs by jumping a couple randomly-selected ones himself.
  8. Are under the impression that if you put a match to a dead body it will burn without the presence of other fuel? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spontaneous_human_combustion
  9. LOL, here's a +10 for both irony and balls. Note the forum it's in: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4615788;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread
  10. Sounds like a sex toy. Wait! It is! http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Pure-ball-plus-size-soft-ball-fun-novelty-toy-leather-silica-gel-ball-saddleries-port-plug/793333646.html
  11. He should have stuck to shop lifting. While not good at that either (he was arrested) the potential punishment for getting caught is lower. Lets not forget he was pulled over twice for trolling for hookers in SF also. Hate that D-Bag with a passion. I don't know who all here is from CA but those who are, givin the laundry list (just posted here) how did this guy keep getting elected??? Marc, I'm not from CA, but I can answer that, because the answer really applies pretty much in every US state. State senators generally don't have a state-wide constituency, they have a local constituency: their resepective state senatorial district. And, as the saying goes, "all politics is local". In most states, state Senators with any degree of longevity tend to accumulate a tremendous amount of local power and influence, and that usually translates into a lot of power and influence as a mover & shaker in the state legislature. That, in turn, translates into a lot of votes from voters who want someone powerful in their corner, no matter what the cost. Leland Yee has been active in SF-Bay area politics since 1996, and has been in the state Senate since 2003. Locally-powerful politicians, of either party, consolidate their power like local Lords of the Castle, by amassing money, doing favors, punishing enemies and, importantly, consituent services to the voting public. Yee has steadily consolidated his power and influence in his local region, and that translates into a tremendous amount of LOYALTY from a reliable cadre of local voters. And that, in large part, is generally why and how corrupt and execrable politicians keep getting elected, even after their layers of scum are publicly displayed in the harsh light of day. There will be a quiz on this next week.
  12. Good angle. The man is pro-business! He's a DINO!
  13. A fool and their money soon part ways.... ***She laughed and replied, "I hope it opens!" I didn't think it was very funny, and I certainly didn't have a good feeling about the next jump. I've said the very same thing a few times during vintage round jumps... only difference was I said it to the crowd watching, not the jumpers... My thoughts are: if you can't pack your own round to jump it, maybe you should not be jumping it. Packing a round is so easy, even a caveman can do it.
  14. would you have been happier if she'd said "break a leg? " Jeez, tough audience.
  15. Vitamin A, beta carotene and fiber. Seems like a win-win to me.
  16. I don't think the fundamentalist believe so much in the huggy and kissy Jesus, it really doesn't work that well with their agenda. I think they would prefer the Christianity of the Malleus Maleficarum, it really seems at times that that's the direction their heading back too. Interesting and apt reference. One of the several agendas of the Malleus Maleficarum was to instruct church-appointed magistrates on how to detect, persecute and prosecute witches. Nowadays we refer to that as the Rules of Criminal Procedure.
  17. Not the topic. Keep your eye on the puck, eh?
  18. Don't you think that, unlike you before your first post to this thread, I did my homework and looked up the school's dress code? I did. She appears to comply. They don't like her because she has short hair (which isn't prohibited for girls), her tee-shirts (which are not specifically covered) are not fru-fru and she looks dykey-androgynous. Yeah, I suppose the parents should have known that when they sent their kid to a fascist school, the school would act like fascists, so no big surprise there. But that returns us to my original question: what would Jesus do? How would He apply His grace and love of others to this situation?
  19. All the more reason I'm less than comfortable with someone who's never jumped him/herself packing for others, where they've never, even once, experienced relying on a parachute themselves to avoid otherwise-certain death. I'm willing to make a small exception of, for example, kids of jumpers or DZOs, where they've packed for their parents and thus have a very personal stake in doing it right.
  20. LOL, irony score off the meter. You're at liberty to conform or die.
  21. The milk of Christian kindness is a gift that just keeps on giving. http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2014/03/26/virginia-girls-toys-not-feminine-enough-for-lynchburg-christian-school/?tid=hp_mm&hpid=z3 Oh! and let's not forget Mark 12:31
  22. Poor analogy. It's more like the equivalent of requiring a building owner to retrofit his older building with fire escapes - which is exactly what eventually occurred pretty much everywhere in the industrialized world circa the first half of the 20th Century once fire escape requirements were amended-into building & fire codes.
