I'd also be curious how many jumps had been put on it.

Incompetent prosecutors in Florida?? What will they think of next?

How many passwords do you use on the web.

It would be an insecure practice to answer your question. So, I won't. -

So did you. -
A quarter of Americans think the Sun goes around the Earth
Andy9o8 replied to lawrocket's topic in Speakers Corner
By coincidence I was fortunate enough to attend an excellent Upstate New York public school system; and it wasn't even a highly-affluent town, just basic middle class. Oh, and anytime you'd like me to educate you about the War of Southern Treasonous Insurrection, you let me know. -
...as in, "always". Anyone who thinks otherwise is naive. A slight tangent: occasionally I represent clients seeking a court order to get an arrest record expunged. I do it, but I always give them a reality check: even though the court order commands the various authorities to destroy the records, if they think that really happens 100% - especially nowadays when everything is archived digitally and subject to infinite copying, they should forget it. The best they can hope for is that it gets buried enough to keep out of sight of private-sector employers.

I don't think "public education" can be painted with a single broad brush by any stretch. -
What is the most unprofessional thing you've done at work?

British violinist to represent Thailand in giant slolom at Olympics
Andy9o8 replied to davjohns's topic in The Bonfire
Sigh. So what do you call the last-place finisher in the Olympic Women's Giant Slalom Alpine Skiing event who finished 50 seconds slower than the winner of the race and 11 seconds slower than the 2nd to last place competitor? -
Remember, they need their logbooks signed, too; so once you get your license they can hit you up to sign theirs. Just have an explanation ready why someone named Sam Black calls himself Justin.

Mea culpa. My vice is that I have trouble resisting straight lines.

Full refund if you buy the farm; but to collect your dough you have to physically sign for it in person. I drafted that one myself. Rather proud of it.

No argument as to that. I'll simply note that lay jurors in very serious, high-profile cases, with lots of factual and legal nuances to digest and apply, and tremendous consequences no matter what the verdict, are under tremendous stress, and sometimes, especially as a team, they get overloaded like a computer going to Blue Screen of Death. The result can sometimes be odd verdicts, or hung juries, or both. Sorry if all I'm doing is stating the obvious.

OK, cutting thru the usual posturing on both sides.... Let's assume some FB gun ads & transactions are legally on the up & up, while others try to skirt the law. (Just like, for example, some "date ads" on Craiglist are legit, while others just front for prostitution.) So, re: the gun ads on FB, would you hazard a guess as to what portion of end transactions are fully legal and what portion are not?

(In addition to the above answer...) This is only anecdotal, and I defer to those living it (I have not) or health professionals (which I'm not). But in addition to having worked a lot with substance abusers in my career (criminal justice, then legal), I've also been friends/acquainted with a number of people who are now-functioning recovering alcoholics. FWIW, each of them was fanatical about avoiding even the slightest amount of alcohol or "alcohol flavoring" (rum flavoring, etc.), for fear of triggering a relapse. So for them, that includes any desserts with alcohol (rum cake, rum raisin ice cream, creme de menthe syrup, etc.), anything with "real" flavor extract (like real vanilla extract, which has alcohol), medicines w/alcohol (Nyquil, lots of liquid cough/cold remedies), the slightest drop of alcohol in a beverage, etc.

New skydiver not feeling the 'it' factor
Andy9o8 replied to InternetNinja's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You might not be feeling "it" because you don't have enough respect for "it" There were 50 fatalities (just fatalities, that doesn't include many more serious or debilitating injuries) in North America and Europe alone last year. This is a very small community... we'd be aware if hundreds of skydivers were killed or seriously injured driving to the DZ. Just for the record, you were replying to the OP, not me. I may be a douche, but not in the skydiving forums. -

Drill down deeper and most of it is stage managed BS, just like The Cove about the dolphins in Japan, the directors dyed the water red to make it look horrible, no way a few hundred animals turn millions and millions of gallons of water red, people who read Japanese know the truth, there are blogs and websites that debunk the whole thing, LOL. Jan Could you help us out with some credible, reliable and objective sources, please?

Ah, thanks for the info. My quick source was the Wikipedia article List of political parties in Australia. I was looking at the chart; and I now realize I was looking at the row for the Liberal Democratic Party.
-
Do you think she would have voted for Obama? A silly, Obama-obsessed non-sequitur, but I'll bite. She couldn't have voted for Obama in 2008 because she was an Australian and British citizen. Nor in 2012, because by that year she was dead. But she was active in Australian politics, running for office for the Liberal party, whose ideology seems to be (though I'd defer to our Aussie friends here) a hybrid of classical liberalism and libertarianism. So: probably Yes.

It only makes a difference if it makes a difference. Or, to an extent, to whom it would make a difference. Hard to really think about too deeply while sober.

Why does Obama, continue to defer the benefits of Obamacare?
Andy9o8 replied to brenthutch's topic in Speakers Corner
It's not by accident that many call him Bush II. The answer is 70% yes to your question. Obamacare was signed into law less than 4 years ago, and got signed off by the Courts only 1.6 years ago. It impacts tens of millions directly, and the rest of us indirectly. How long do you think it takes to implement such a substantial change? One answer is: longer than it should if the opposition party wants it to. By that reasoning we'd still have prohibition. You're suggesting we don't? What do you suppose feeds our criminal justice-penitentiary complex? Do they require any classes on the Constitution at the Sears Attorney School? LOL, what do you mean, "school"? -
Were you good at it? Is that how you funded your education?
