    Anyhow, this mother-fucker is one of those who voted in favor of drug-testing people on food stamps. Here's a better idea: drug-test every legislator who votes in favor of drug-testing. Better yet, being in the US Congress is a form of welfare. If people in need of food should be drug-tested; if employees in every job description in corporate offices, safety-related or not, is being drug tested, then every elected legislator in the country should be drug-tested, too. Oh, and the mayors of D.C and Toronto, too. .

    Pretty sure it is. However on mobile devices it could be annoying. Would be an easy fix but not sure if they have bigger fish to fry. Well, on the phone it covers things you want to read and/or click on. And a fair amount (probably increasing) of use of this site is via phone these days. So it is a functionality issue.

    They will if they can profit from doing it. Since the non-compliant policies are generally shitty, they probably can profit from it. Sorry, but it's a "talking point" that they're "generally shitty". Yes, many are shitty, but many are not, like the anecdote I related in the other thread. Self-employed and "1099" people who make the effort to buy private insurance generally also make the effort to vote; and you know what? They're pretty pissed at this.

    Lawyer-friend of mine is a middle-aged solo practitioner. Shares a secretary w/3 other solos; that's her whole "staff". Meat & potatoes kind of work; very middle-income. Buys her own (private) insurance for her & her family, from one of the major name-brand health insurers. Has pretty good coverage, with a higher deductible to make it affordable. Has been paying about $350/month. She just got one of those notices from her carrier. After the grandfathered-in period, if she wants the same coverage, albeit now with a mandatory lower deductible and stuff like maternity care she no longer needs, the new price: $1,100. Completely blindsided. She's so livid she says if it doesn't get fixed before her deadline is up, she's never walking into a voting booth again.
