Brazilian man suing over women's app that rates men
Andy9o8 replied to ryoder's topic in The Bonfire
If he wants a better rating, maybe he should get himself a Brazilian. -
I know you're trying really hard in this troll-thread, Ron, and for a while it was amusing to just munch the popcorn and watch it develop predictably. But you're getting pretty sad now.

Look, you've already made your point to them, so think twice. Canopy deployment is still an excercise in controlled chaos, so maybe it was a packing issue, or maybe it was simply random. You're new there, and DeLand is a great DZ. At any DZ, think carefully about putting appropriate "balance" in how you put yourself across, especially when you're new there, especially when you're a student. In the meantime - learn how to pack.

No it isn't. Israel provides a strong and stable nuclear foothold in a very contentious and volatile area. There is significant return on the money spent. What is it in Afghanistan? A share of the poppy profits.

Wise move. So this drunk guy walks into a tough Jewish bar in Brooklyn. He yells out, "Any hot bitches here I can pork?" The patrons beat the shit out of him because he implied they weren't kosher.
-
Matter of perspective, of course. Whuffos would say you've done that 800 times.

a sheet of paper killed my brother in 'Nam - don't fool yourself, paper will get you if you turn away. It's us vs them. http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs50/f/2009/321/3/1/Killer_paper_by_emoroan.jpg

I didn't intend to make any legal point at all. Keying on your presumption "the sole reason", I was explaining that the kosher deli's "no meat & cheese on the sandwich" policy was as much, if not more, about business than it was about the owner's personal beliefs. I agree completely.
-
Not exactly. It's because it's a kosher deli. The stock in trade of kosher or halal food retailers is the fact that they're kosher or halal. That's the real niche reason they exist: to service observant Jews or Muslims who won't buy or eat there if they feel the place is not strictly adhering to dietary laws. To that kind of retailer, reputation - trust - for being kosher or halal is absolutely everything. If you combine meat and cheese in a kosher restaurant, then in the minds of the kosher clientele, it stops being reliably kosher, and they will never go there again, and will spread the word to everyone else they know to never go there again either. Depending on what percentage of their business depends on that, that kind of damage to their reputation could effectively put them out of business, and prevent them from ever working locally in the kosher food sub-industry again. .

I'm surprised you are surprised by this. It's always been about the money for Karzai. You and I are about the same age; both of us heard, remember, the lies of Vietnam. Remember Thieu and Ky, and before them, Diem? Sure you do. I'm not remotely surprised by it. But I am disgusted by it; it keeps repeating over and over again, and I want to burn this lesson into the minds of today's twenty- and thirty-somethings.
-
Nope, could never possibly anticipate something like that happening...

http://investigations.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/12/02/21660362-karzai-security-pact-gambit-aimed-at-keeping-us-money-filling-his-pockets 12 years and counting, and trillions of dollars (not to mention thousands of lives) later, I hope we all think it's been worth it. Look at us: liberals, moderates and conservatives, snarling at each other over the remnants of the rest of the left-over pie, like feral dogs fighting over the scraps left over when the bloated lion has finished feeding. And this is why. We're the fools. All of us.
-
Moderates are. What the hell do they know? Little weenies.

Who needs an AR-15 when they could have THIS!
Andy9o8 replied to ZigZagMarquis's topic in Speakers Corner
Sigh. For a military guy, your lack of understanding of elementary weapons technology is, well, disappointing. The blaster charge does not go through the soldier. Rather, the blaster charge energizes the armor plates with a positronic field. The soldier's body is in direct contact with most of the armor, so the charged field passes into the body, causing organ disruption and cardiac arrhythmia or arrest. Thus, it's possible that if you were hugging the table when it was hit by a blaster, you'd get fried, too. Now you might ask: then what the hell's the purpose of the armor in the first place, if it doesn't deflect a charge from a garden-variety hand blaster? For a retainer of $1,500 to my paypal account, I will explain it to you. -
He was a damned liar. His cousin Groucho, however...

Really? Civil War - Soldier's Heart WWI - Shell Shock WWII - Battle Fatigue Korea - Stress Response Syndrome Viet Nam - Post Viet Nam Syndrome (also known as "Going Batshit") There's over 80 different names attributed to the same thing. Which begs the question: How much money has the US spent on weaponry and research into better weapons systems in those years. Then lets compare that to how much they have spent on PTSD prevention and treatment over that same time period. The term "cannon fodder" is quite old. Unfortunately, it's always timely.

You don't.

You defend one here regularly That's a lie! A damned lie!

I give them good advice. Who needs money when you get good advice?
