thus the problem has risen. I dont want my SCI clearance to expire before I have a chance to use it. So anyone working with companies who require these, please let me know. I've done the searches on the websites, but everything is "2+ years experience". How/where can I just cash in on having a clearance and the company will teach me what I need to know, or is this not how it ever works? thanks for the replies..... $ 2250 for a 7-level AFF course, Too expensive or ok?
woodpecker replied to cmnt's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That sounds about right after the conversion from euros to USD. For those in the US (and yes I'm american living abroad right now) the course is actually 1600 euros (well it was last winter when my friend went through it) so very comparable if the rate was 1 to 1. For the OP....Go to EMP. Absolutely beutiful and the DZ is great. Also lots of fun after the last load. A group of us go a few times a year and as mentioned above, my friend did the same program a few months ago. Good times had by all. Its decision time and wondering what opportunities are available for one with a TS clearance. Any help is appreciated. No one here plays in that world so hard to find out where to look and I'm tired of hearing...."oh, you have a TS that pays". Where, who pays and where? I've eaten slugs in SERE school and can tell you the slime itself is on dangerous. Now whether or now your child has an allergy to slugs is a different story. And for those of you now wanting to try raw slugs now...remember to roll them between your fingers before you eat them. Interesting little surprise SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?

Will post more later, but what beutiful animals. While there I adopted the owl pictured, so I get to go back and have pics taken while I'm handling her. The owls father was in harry potter "goblet of fire" along with 4 other owls from the Aviery. But think of how much smaller my rig will be with a 135 in it.... I'll be there in spain and wanted to take the course anyway. Besides, I'm not in a hurry, just getting a plan together.....goal if you will. Thanks all for the input. Tony, hurry up and get back, and bring the sun with you......at this rate we will be able to kyak the crag instead of climbing it. LOL Actually I'm 155 out the door.. I'll try to make it over in October and am def. not buying till I demo. Just trying to get a plan together right now. Hell, if I go to a 135 I'm only loading at a little over 1.1. So how much difference will the shorter lines make even at that load? Hey shrek, been a few months and I'll bring the onions again next time I make it to the states. Just looking for some more performance, faster turns, more responsive from the saddle....not alot more though. I want to take my downsizing slow and as said earlier, I love my pilot, just ready to get a LITTLE more zippy so my rational is that the same canopy, just a little smaller would do this without too much of an increase in performace. Thus the question for all you experienced people to help out. Unlike most, I'm not in a hurry, just ready to make a little change. Landed on Rear risers...good idea or no???

Good point spence, and looking at all who responded, he's the only person who said "you fucked up", well not in those words of course. Where you headed next so I can drag the other Scottish Billy with me? SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on? -
Let me add a little to this thread so the question is better understood. I have a jedei 150 fully eliptical. I'm not wanting to move up to a full eliptical canopy just yet. I've flown that beast a few times and just not comfortable in the "just in case" scenario to jump it full time. So with that added knowledge, will a pilot 135 (I think thats the next size down) be a huge difference, or would it be better to just use a different "non fully eliptical" 150 for some more performance? And thanks for the replies so far (except andy ) SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?

I've jumped my pilot 150 for the past 250 jumps and love it. I can land it up/down/cross/and whatever else the wind has to offer (stand up) with no issues, weight shift turns, risers, blah blah blah. Simply I love this canopy but am starting to want a little more performance. For all of you a hell of a lot more experienced than me, how much more performance will I get out of a the next smaller pilot? Or should I just get a different 150 to get more out of it. ps....I'm keeping the pilot 150 for wingsuit so I can always switch back if I hate the switch. Thanks in advance, Billy SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?

I say "great job", you saw a situation, didnt panic, and found another purfect reliable way to drive your canopy safely to the ground.......if I was there I would have bought you a beer. Hell, I drive with my rears even when my toggles arent stuck, but next time, remember some of the advice you received on this thread. To ease up on your arms, you can just put the unstowed toggle in brakes till the canopy starts flying straight, and you can also use the stowed toggle to turn instead of wearing yourself out hanging onto the rears the whole time. All in all, I say WELL DONE! and Strato -- excellent response! SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?
