Civilian jumps can earn a Parachutist Badge???
woodpecker replied to ElJosh's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Sorry, I'm in the AF so we call are "formal wear" a mess dress and thats the only uniform we can wear foreign jump wings on unless stationed in the country we recieved them (and were tdy) when we attended the class....though I do wear mine on my service dress as well. From my understanding as long as you have your commands commanders approval (geez thats a long title) its okay. RAPS is jumping squares in NL. Sorry, been jumping in the UK and NL for past four years and some of the terminology stuck. Civilian jumps can earn a Parachutist Badge???
woodpecker replied to ElJosh's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've been through that training and what a blast. You actually have two options to graduate with the same wings. 1) rounds 2) RAPS The great thing about the RAPS is higher winds....I've done both and the rounds sure sit on the ground a lot more. Good school (run just like a civ. school) and great staff. I recomend it to any active duty who wants to get some military wings. Of course, you can only wear them on your messdress (unless your one of us lucky ones and went TDY to the school ) If anyone has any other questions about the school PM me...great times and I usually go back for a week a year to just fun jump. A little off topics, but who in the military is forcing you to have an audible? I'm both a military and civ jumper and have never heard that rule. Just curious. Any other military people ever heard of this? SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?

Agreed! And to anyone who thinks the Air Force only deal with airframes, you have a lot to learn about the forces. This goes to all branches.... For the original thread (which has becomed quite distant), the grounding of the Eagle would be unfotunate and their support greatly missed. Hope they get the problem fixed quick. I want to be spoiled! Living in the UK right now and with my work schedule usually unable to watch the Unit till it comes out on DVD. So, what is going on...a specific nuttshell will work for me. I agree with NWFlyer, you cant compare a pilot against a crossfire. Two comletely different canopies...not even close to similar. I currently jump a pilot though and love it. Nice openings, good glide, nice recovery arc. No problems at all. SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?

Just finished my photo shoot, interview, and some camera time to be cast in the upcoming Paul Greengrass film "imperial life in the emerald city". I'll know if I'm in over the next few days and will be shooting in the UK and Spain from January - April. Wish me luck! Does Percochet give anyone else an over-active bladder??
woodpecker replied to stitch's topic in The Bonfire
No, Percocet isnt a diuretic so it wont make you go to the bathroom more, and none of the listed side affects listed are as such. Are you drinking while one it? SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on? -

Just ordered my Nikon D80 and now the work begins. I've only ever used your standard point and shoot digital camera and need some help getting started with my photo hobby. I'm wanting to shoot outdoors (mostly), landscapes, wildlife, etc. and need a recomendation of a book to start me out. I have no idea about iso, shutter speeds, etc. and could use the help. It will also give me something to do while i'm waiting for the camera to get here. Thanks in advance, Billy SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?

Skydiving in different countries?
woodpecker replied to Blassiter's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've jumped in the Netherlands, Spain, England, Ireland, Germany, US, Greece, Italy, and Estonia with my USPA and no issues. As everyone else said though, british DZ's require a BPA membership. Thanks for the painting advice. Never thought of the different times of days. Also looking for furniture placement (possibly new) and how to incorporate all of my crap/or what to put into each room without too little, or too much. Timing this year is not our strong point. Next weekend I'm in germany for the whine festival. I'll be back week after. Not that the weather is playing nice anyway. Let me know and we'll catch up.
