  3. Bahaha that's classic, funny I haven't head about even though 440 Million people have registered. Probably just an email skimming idea, suppose it really is gonna filter out the dumb asses though. __________________ BOOM Headshot
  4. Lowest deployment altitudes are determined by the USPA, but that is all, different dropzones use different altitudes. It is a pretty good example, but why not watch the real thing? www.skydivemovies.com has lots of student movies showing the levels of AFF. NO MATTER WHAT YOU SEE ON THE INTERNET, LISTEN TO YOUR INSTRUCTORS. (sure you know that anyway) __________________ BOOM Headshot
  5. Hang on, are you very low on the formation, or very low altitude? The question doesn't clear that up. If you are at 10,000 feet and low then surely you are better clearning your airspace by tracking for a while? __________________ BOOM Headshot

  11. HINGS THAT ARE DIFFICULT TO SAY WHEN YOU'RE DRUNK: Indubitably Innovative. Preliminary. Proliferation. Cinnamon. THINGS THAT ARE VERY DIFFICULT TO SAY WHEN YOU'RE DRUNK: Specificity. British Constitution. Passive-aggressive disorder. Loquacious Transubstantiate. THINGS THAT ARE DOWNRIGHT IMPOSSIBLE TO SAY WHEN YOU'RE DRUNK: Thanks, but I don't want to have sex. Nope, no more beer for me. Sorry, but you're not really my type. Good evening officer, isn't it lovely out tonight. Oh, I just couldn't. No one wants to hear me sing __________________ BOOM Headshot

  13. Funny story (if a little long); I was once in a police line up, was complete bull really, me and some friends went out for someone's birthday came home pretty wasted and on the way home Isupposedly vandalised someones car (I didn't). Well 4 months later I was called in for a lineup, the woman trying to ID me lived 200 yards from my home, I walk past her house at least 3 times a week. For a start how could she not pick me out. Well I am sure not a lot of people don' know this (and it might be UK specific), but the defendent and his attorney get to look through the lineup and remove anyone if they don't like how it looks. At the time I had a goatee and glasses, well they had pulled in a make up artist to do the beards (wouldn't have know unless they told me), but the glasses just looked stupid, I was 20 at the time so of course wearing designer frames, 8 of these guys had huge specs on, it was rather comical. I picked out one guy and said "he was the only person to come in with glasses on" (of course he was), wasn't exactly rocket science to work out that she only had 2 to choose from. Well turns out they had no other frames, so to make it "fair", is how my attorney put it, I wore some big daft glasses. Sat there in this line up couldn't see a damn thing. End of they day she said it was between me and this other guy that was looking at her all the time (tip for you, if you go to pick someone out of a lineup don't wear bright clothes and stand near to the glass). My attorney had it thrown out as she wasn't sure, he rocked tbh really new his shit. __________________ BOOM Headshot
  14. I bet that stings at first ;) No, seriously, I've been trying to find a contact lens that works for me for about 10 years now. I'm too clumsy for anything other than disposables, but I've never been able to wear those and I must have tried 5 different types. My main malfunctions are my astigmatism and the fact that my eyes are quite dry - defective tear ducts or some such thing. So glasses it is for now. I was looking at sportx.com and found their live contact button (very cool) but the delivery to the UK sounds a bit too long. In recent years lenses have got much better, I have terrible astigmatism, but have been able to get soft lenses that are very easy to wear, as for the whole dry eye things, unless you jump somewhere with a cessna that you have to pedal, longest you have to wear them for is an hour. Get a trial pair of contacts, so much better, that is of course until you loose one at 10000 feet, thats fun :) __________________ BOOM Headshot

  16. Maybe you should send the dog to L & B they might be able to fix it's teeth to prevent this happening again
  17. Like pops says, if you practice enough, it's not a case of will I remember, will I do it in the right order etc. it's just flip the autopilot switch and do what the training says. __________________ BOOM Headshot
  18. I do look straight forward, give a mental count, and watch the opening as soon as it comes into my vision. Thing to note, I had a coached jump recently (new DZ & CCI suggest it, as hadn't jumped there b4), one of the things the coach said was I should be watching where I am throwing the PC, is this simply untrue? __________________ BOOM Headshot
  19. Ahh cool I had sebastian for one of my AFF jumps, infact I think that crazy fool was the first person to ever release me in freefall (on AFF not Tandem ). __________________ BOOM Headshot

  22. When did they start teaching tandem students to sitfly?
  23. Whilst you won't have the knowledge at the moment to realise why, your analogy is actually pretty good. When you first start skydiving there are a lot things put in place to help you out, similar to when you first start driving. Canopy for example you could relate to car, you wouldn't learn in a ferrari that is very unforgiving of mistakes, similarly your wing loading and shape of canopy (they aren't all just square), is specifically for students, designed to be more forgiving. Pull altitude, specifically higher for students, giving you more time to deal with a mal. AAD, whilst not specifically for students, its a device put in place to help deal with worst of the worst situations. RSL, another device designed to help with student malfunctions. I can see how to the untrained eye, you are being thrown into the deep end with the sharks, but once you go through the FJC, I am sure you will have much more confidence in the equipment. __________________ BOOM Headshot
