  1. That was a tough one. I had to settle on "mission accomplished" for the most knowingly bullshit comment. I almost went with "no Americans in Baghdad" but then I'm not sure if there actually any IN Baghdad at the time. Certainly our weaponry was there and we were close to the front door but I don't know if we were "in". Of course the "we KNOW that they have WMD's" comment seems more like a hunch or educated guess than actually knowing. Such a tough call, how about adding "I'm a uniter not a divider"? That one's a "slam dunk".
  2. IE, not the "spork" is the tool of the devil. Exorcise it and try some non-Gatesware.
  3. *throws bullshit flag* If so, you should have NO problem showing the news reports of the "dead and starving" having been left to die in the Astrodome with no care. Ok, you're right. I misspoke by lumping the hurricane victims hardships together. I don't know of anyone who was starving or dying in Texas at the site where she made her comment. The starving/dying people I was thinking about were the ones left in New Orleans, before the surviving ones were taken to Texas. So I suppose you're right, her elitist comments should qualified to note that she wasn't looking at a dead person at the time, only their displaced relatives. That must be why she was able to raise such a compassionate conservative for a son. Here, to make up for it I'll give you another one of her greatest hits. From a "Good Morning America" in 2003. "Why should we hear about body bags, and deaths, and how many, what day it's gonna happen, and how many this or what do you suppose? Or, I mean, it's, it's not relevant. So, why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?"
  4. "Marxist"? "Hypocritical"? I think that you posted the wrong links if that's the point you're trying to make. He said that the decision to fire Don Imus should be left to the networks. That he doesn't like Imus' style of entertainment and would not be working for him. What's wrong with that? And then I guess you disagree with him on capital gains. That's fine and a topic worthy of discussion. So does that mean that you think that the very richest Americans should pay less in taxes than their workers? You think that paying as you go is a bad idea and that mortgaging our country to China is a good idea? I'll just have to disagree with you then. Personally I think the debate needs to be extended beyond the capital gains tax alone and more to the tax code in general and I'd like to think Obama has similar thoughts. He seems to be focusing on accountability and fiscal responsibility. However in neither of those links did I see anything "marxist" or even remotely "hypocritical".
  5. Not_Even_Close. You don't get any more arrogant and "elitist" than the crap that Barbara spilled out. And yes, there's plenty of proof that people were starving and dying. They're called "photos". As for Obama's comment, what do you do when you need a release from all the crap that makes your life difficult? Shooting with guns or a camera? Skiing? Running? Posting on the internet? Beer? Women/woman? I "cling" to skydiving and playing with my two boys. That's how I cope with the crap that pisses me off. And yes, I'm bitter that our leadership has made bad decisions that affect my life. The fact that I "cling" to diversions and that someone knows that doesn't mean that I'm being belittled.
  6. Today "proof" seems to be considered to be directly proportional to decibel level and over speak. Funny though how a question like "why" or "how" can disrupt a talking point regurgithon. Just ask Kevin James
  7. I was looking for the right thread to post that link to, but you beat me to it. Amazing stuff isn't it? What a difference 8 years makes. Bush's third term indeed.
  8. Ahh, the old "Henry Hyde" defense And I'm willing to bet that I'm not the only person in this thread who has asked or will ask you to explain "how"? I mean it's not like he walked around a bunch of displaced, dying and starving people and said something like "so many of the people in the arenas here, you know, were underprivileged anyway. This is working very well for them".
  9. Because I continually get the impression that the right wing noise makers are more interested in winning by any means possible. Limbaugh's "Operation chaos" is a good example, as is the stuff that the Tenn Republican party is doing with Michelle Obama. I don't believe that they represent the party as a whole but they're certainly capable of steering a national dialog. The "win by any means" strategy however brings up the question of "why" employ it? Is it a character component based on the desire for power and/or simply to win the contest? Honestly I think that Rove fits firmly into the latter category as the only ideology I ever hear from him seems to be based on beating the Democrats, not any social or economic ideology. Or, if the desire to win is actually ideologically driven w/r/t a desire for policies that they believe are better for America then why are they afraid to have a discussion on those issues? I have a tendency to believe that those who argue extremely loudly and who use diversion tactics are generally afraid that they don't have a sound argument or know that they don't. They choose to flood the market with misinformation and noise in order to avoid an honest discussion of ideas. The mainstream media unfortunately seems to favor the fanning of fires of controversy but I suppose that's what you get when profits take priority over journalistic integrity. $0.02
  10. Different version? Well done. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5j2YDq6FkVE
  11. apples=fruit oranges=fruit watermelon=fruit Yea, I see what you mean. COMPLETELY unrelated I guess maybe the difference is more along the lines of dollars and cents.
  12. So, considering that this is a thread that you started, any opinion on the Hagee/Parsley component or are we just going to continue to selectively snipe?
  13. Maybe he forgot to say "pretty please". http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080516/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_mideast;_ylt=AiDZGHzgmndepLLcwe9CsUCs0NUE
  14. I agree with most but not all of this. Probably the biggest sticking point is your notion of a "VERY conservative" judiciary. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
  15. I can really respect that sentiment and I do like the idea of balance in Washington but I can't think that way this fall. McCain's foreign policy and potential judicial appointments scare me. Of course that's only if we're to believe what he's saying. He may just be pandering to, as Jon Stewart put it, Crazy Base World
  16. Bueller? Wow, this is the second time this week that Crusader Parsley has killed a thread on this topic. Let's hope it works again this summer on a national level.
  17. Ok, I've made it seven minutes through. I'll admit that I enjoyed it just a bit. Must be the sense of justice. And yet another example of the louder argument being the weakest.
  18. Sure he can. All he has to do is invade an oil producing nation and voila! Let's just hope he doesn't do it again.
  19. Allright, I'm taking a break after the first 1:40. Anybody else notice that our news programming is starting to sound more and more like a professional wrestling drama? How are we supposed to take any of these people seriously?
  20. I hadn't pegged you as an entitlement proponent. I guess you learn something new every day
  21. So what's this guy peddling? What about his congregation? What about the guy who calls him his "moral compass and spiritual guide"? Just curious. http://bravenewfilms.org/blog/38133-mccain-s-spiritual-guide-wants-america-to-destroy-islam?utm_source=rgemail
  22. You mean like $2000 tax credits for hybrids and $100,000 for Hummers?
  23. "Pro abortion" would be the position that the government has the duty/right to step in and force people to have abortions for one reason or another. A pro-choice advocate would disagree with that notion as well.
  24. Sure. Kill the subsidies, make them pay their taxes, and let the people decide how much of their product that they want to buy at the market price. By the way, IMO windfall profits taxes are a stupid idea for numerous reasons. Cutting the subsidy makes perfect sense. If they want to subsidize something let them subsidize our DZ. We need a new plane.
